Nourish & Soothe Dry Skin with Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm

marec 23, 2020

Hi loves! How are you all doing?? I hope you're all well, healthy and staying safe inside your homes. Gosh, 2020 is no joke! It wasn't my intention to write about a product for your hands but alas it happened that way unintentionally. As we are all, hopefully, washing our hands all day every day (we're currently using Rachel's Plan Bee Arnaud Soap - Sweet Love) and as much as this bar of soap usually isn't drying out my hands, this excessive amount of washing is too much for my hands. I love to use moisturizing and hydrating hand creams (I'm currently using Alteya Age Defense Hair Cream* - review here, or Free + True Body Prophet* - review here) in the day time but when it comes evening & nighttime, then I especially like to apply a nourishing balm on top, to seal in all the moisture. And here is where today's product comes in. Meet Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm*.

Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm "softens and repairs dry or damaged skin from top to toe. Suitable for anyone, including those with sensitive skin and babies." As a true balm, this is a nourishing product that contains plant oils and Beeswax. There's not a lot of ingredients in this balm, so let me mention just a few. Babassu & Avocado Oils, Calendula Extract, which is know for its anti-inflammatory and soothing benefits, and among others it also helps to promote healing. Calendula is very beneficial as a tea or added to a soup because it helps to move the lymph. Another plant that's wonderful for the body and skin, that is in the balm is Marshmallow - an amazing emollient, which helps to repair and soften the driest, roughest, cracked or chapped skin. There are no essential oils in this balm which makes it perfect for sensitive skin and babies too.

The balm can be used all over your body and on your face as well - as a moisturizer or a balm cleanser. I haven't tried it on my face (yet) but I love to use it on my hands, elbows and feet. This winter my boyfriend and I went tour skiing quite a lot and one time I got these nasty blisters on my feet. When I healed them with straight up aloe vera (I cut a leaf from my plant and used it directly on my blisters - luckily I work from home so I could walk around barefoot and that sped the healing process), I then started applying this balm to soften the skin. They recommend using it on any dry, cracked, chapped, hard, rough or irritated skin, and that's exactly how I'm using, and loving it. For moms out there, it can also be used to soothe and improve sore nipples when nursing (without needing to wash off before feeding your baby).
