Nourish & Soothe Dry Skin with Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm

marec 23, 2020

Hi loves! How are you all doing?? I hope you're all well, healthy and staying safe inside your homes. Gosh, 2020 is no joke! It wasn't my intention to write about a product for your hands but alas it happened that way unintentionally. As we are all, hopefully, washing our hands all day every day (we're currently using Rachel's Plan Bee Arnaud Soap - Sweet Love) and as much as this bar of soap usually isn't drying out my hands, this excessive amount of washing is too much for my hands. I love to use moisturizing and hydrating hand creams (I'm currently using Alteya Age Defense Hair Cream* - review here, or Free + True Body Prophet* - review here) in the day time but when it comes evening & nighttime, then I especially like to apply a nourishing balm on top, to seal in all the moisture. And here is where today's product comes in. Meet Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm*.
Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm. Lovelula
Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm. Lovelula
Lyonsleaf Calendula & Marshmallow Balm "softens and repairs dry or damaged skin from top to toe. Suitable for anyone, including those with sensitive skin and babies." As a true balm, this is a nourishing product that contains plant oils and Beeswax. There's not a lot of ingredients in this balm, so let me mention just a few. Babassu & Avocado Oils, Calendula Extract, which is know for its anti-inflammatory and soothing benefits, and among others it also helps to promote healing. Calendula is very beneficial as a tea or added to a soup because it helps to move the lymph. Another plant that's wonderful for the body and skin, that is in the balm is Marshmallow - an amazing emollient, which helps to repair and soften the driest, roughest, cracked or chapped skin. There are no essential oils in this balm which makes it perfect for sensitive skin and babies too.

The balm can be used all over your body and on your face as well - as a moisturizer or a balm cleanser. I haven't tried it on my face (yet) but I love to use it on my hands, elbows and feet. This winter my boyfriend and I went tour skiing quite a lot and one time I got these nasty blisters on my feet. When I healed them with straight up aloe vera (I cut a leaf from my plant and used it directly on my blisters - luckily I work from home so I could walk around barefoot and that sped the healing process), I then started applying this balm to soften the skin. They recommend using it on any dry, cracked, chapped, hard, rough or irritated skin, and that's exactly how I'm using, and loving it. For moms out there, it can also be used to soothe and improve sore nipples when nursing (without needing to wash off before feeding your baby).

Free + True Body Prophet All Over Creamy Serum is this month's Hero product and it is absolutely beautiful! This body lotion is packed with soothing and nourishing ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Sunflower Seed Oil infused with Calendula, German Chamomile, Comfrey, Lavender, Lemon Balm, Plantain, Rose and Yarrow. There's Olive Leaf Extract, Pumpkin Seed Oil and Seabuckthorn Berry Oil, hence the beautiful vibrant pastel yellow colour. It has a gentle sweet scent, really beautiful! I cannot tell you how amazing the bathroom smells after I use it - I for sure got a question "mmm what smells so good?" This sweet, almost candy like aroma also has a citrus undertone. I love it! The consistency is amazing too - it's light as lotions are, it quickly gets absorbed into the skin, leaving the skin softer and moisturized. I haven't tried that many natural & organic body lotions, especially when I think how many body oils I've tried, but I have to say that this one is one of the best I've used. It is just so lovely. I can't get over the scent, which also lasts a couple of hours (it's not as strong as it was upon application but I can still detect it) and the texture is beautiful too. I completely understand why Jeannie & her team chose Body Prophet as their March Hero. You can check out Free + True Body Prophet here.

March Beauty Heroes Beauty Discovery Free + True Mama Pacha Moisture Infusion Cream consistency
Free + True Mama Pacha Moisture Infusion Cream is an "all-weather moisturizer formulated with the same hardy Arctic Peptides that are known to thrive in marine environments, meaning they support skin resilience in harsh conditions, as well." I immediately fell in love with this cream! It feels so lush on the skin, it's a dream to use. Mama Pacha contains Aloe Vera, Mango Seed Butter, Squalane, Avocado Oil, Calendula, Gotu Kola, Nettle. Like Body Prophet, this cream also has a gorgeous scent! To me it has a more feminine scent because of Jasmine, and I can also smell Ylang Ylang. It has lightweight texture but don't let that fool you, because it's more nourishing that the texture looks. I like that it doesn't feel rich or heavy yet it's still properly moisturizing. I have combination skin and I don't have any problems with it being too much, too rich for my skin but I did see a comment somewhere on Instagram, that to them it feels a bit rich (I believe this person has oily skin). I have zero problems with it + it doesn't clog my pores. You could use it on its own but I like to layer it on top of last month's HeroBluh Alchemy Botanic-Retinol Skin Renewal Concentrate* (which btw I adore! Read my review here).

Can be used morning and evening. In the morning I use it with Ayuna The Facial Low* (not every day), Bluh Alchemy Botanic-Retinol*, a small amount of Mama Pacha and a blend of Heart of Gold Northern Lights Oilserum* (which is SO stunning!) & Earthwise Beauty Farizad's VeilSun Reflector (affiliate code Loveliness always saves you 15%). And in the evening my routine is very similar, with the exception that I apply the cream as a last product and I apply more of it than in the morning. You can also use Mama Pacha as a moisture mask, which I haven't tried yet but I bet you wake up with baby soft and smooth skin. You can check out Free + True Mama Pacha Moisture Infusion Cream here.

I have to say that I'm really impressed with this box & would love to try more Free + True products. Really beautiful, I highly recommend March Beauty Heroes Beauty Discovery.

Earthwise Beauty Alchemy

februar 26, 2020

Hello everyone! Hope you're all doing well. Today I want to bring an attention to a post published on Earthwise Beauty Instagram page (check it out here). If you already follow them, then you may have seen they started sharing how some of us EWB fans combine their products to create our own concoctions. I was thrilled when they ask me to share mine and with that I also have a special discount code for you - code JanasEWBCombo saves 20% on four of Earthwise Beauty products, and I wanted to share a little bit of info on those beauties.
Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm, Rosa Rosehip Oil, Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist, On a Swing Among Trees Face Serum in a MistEarthwise Beauty Rosa Whole-Fruit Rosehip Oil
Earthwise Beauty Rosa Whole-Fruit Rosehip Oil
Rosa Whole-Fruit Rosehip Oil* is the best rosehip oil I've tried, and I've tried a few. It has this amazing, vibrant orange colour (that slightly shows up on the skin, especially if you're a bit too generous). This is a lightweight oil that is fast absorbed into the skin and personally I love using it morning (with Farizad's Veil) and evening. Rosehip is known to help reduce hyperpigmentation and post-acne scars & it's such a perfect oil to have if you're dealing with scars. It really helps to soften the skin and makes the scars heal faster. If you have any problems with acne scarring I would highly recommend trying it. Also if you have sensitive skin since it doesn't contain any essential oils which can often irritate skin, depending on how sensitive it is. Rosehip oil also helps to reduce fine lines and overall it helps to make skin looking more radiant and smooth. I thoroughly enjoy this oil, on its own or mixed with other products like for example with Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm. You can check out Rosa Whole-Fruit Rosehip Oil here.
Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm
Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm
Yasuni Face Balm* is a super lightweight, a featherlight face balm that can be used on pretty much all skin types, including sensitive skin, dermatitis, acne-prone skin. Like Rosa it's free of essential oils and therefore a wonderful option if you would like to give your skin some break from essential oils. I sometimes really enjoy that & my skin as well. Yasuni is a special balm and I sometimes wouldn't even describe it as a balm. It has a very solid consistency and feels more like a dry balm (what an oxymoron - a dry balm) but it's true. It's not greasy or very oily and like I said, it feels so, SO lightweight on the skin that it's truly a dream to wear. Yasuni is also unique because it has some enzymatic benefits due to fruit oils alone. It very gently exfoliates the skin (nothing dramatic, I can easily use other exfoliating products as well). It just really nicely exfoliates and renews the skin, and can also help to reduce blackheads. I didn't experience that but perhaps I should use it every single day, twice a day for weeks and weeks. For more info you can check out my review here. You can find Yasuni Face Balm here.

So I love to combine the two products together: a small dollop of Yasuni with a drop or two of Rosa, and massage onto my skin. As a base there are two Earthwise Beauty products I've been really enjoying with: On a Swing Among Trees Face Serum in a Mist and Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist.
Earthwise Beauty On a Swing Among Trees Face Serum in a Mist
On a Swing Among Trees Face Serum in Mist* is another interesting product Ava has created. Described as a "youth-preserving serum in a mist" this is not a hydrating serum/mist and for sure not your typical face mist. This is a dry serum in a liquid format that "strives to deliver a very natural skin feel when you or someone else touches your face: the skin is matte, perfectly soft, well-conditioned, springy and alive, and dry - not oily, coated, or sticky from products." It's most interesting, this feeling of dry mist which I actually really enjoy because sometimes face mists can leave your skin feeling too wet. I cannot say for sure that it delivers on the promises - skin appears firmer, more robust, wrinkled areas appear tauter, but it's strange that I while reading the description to help me write this post I was like yes! when I read this: "there is an overall increased energy in the facial appearance". I can't explain it but I agree with it. On the other hand it does help to subdue inflammation. You know what it is, since it feels dry and so lightweight I think I almost have a feeling that it doesn't do much for my skin but in fact I almost run out of it and yes I did stop using it so I still have some left when a crisis hits haha. Swing's ingredient list doesn't disappoint. First ingredient being Turmeric Hydrosol and you don't need to tell me anything else, cause I love me some turmeric! Even tho it's not super hydrating it still contains some humectants - there's Aloe Vera and an ultra-low-molecular-weight Hyaluronic Acid. There's also Ceramide Complex (you can read Ava's post about Ceramids here) and the fragrant Myrrh & Frankincense. I like! You can check out On a Swing Among Trees Face Serum in Mist here.
Earthwise Beauty Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist
Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist* on the other hand is a hydrating face mist with Aloe Vera, Cistus (Rock Rose) Hydrosol and a few flower & gem essences. "Cistus hydrosol is recommended for reducing signs of aging, from wrinkles to lack of skin firmness, and is pore minimizing, naturally antibacterial (also anti-viral and anti-fungal), anti-acne, and nurturing, yet nondrying and extremely mild." Sign me up! It has this beautiful scent (that I wasn't a fan of initially, when I tried the mist in its previous packaging) but now I love it. It's comforting to me and I love using it before Rosa & Yasuni, after I apply my makeup or as an aura mist. Check out Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist here.

On all these 4 Earthwise Beauty products you can now and until Monday, March 2nd, enjoy 20% off using the code JanasEWBCombo.

On all of their other products you can always use my affiliate code Loveliness to save 15%.

You can shop here.

Thank you so much for reading & for your support.

Much love to you all!

One of my Favourite Hair Oils

januar 31, 2020

This is not the first time I'm mentioning this hair oil but I have to do it again because it is just so gorgeous! Tell me, have you already tried Tabitha James Kraan Scented Organic Hair Oil? If you haven't, then you really should give it a go. I really love it. You can read my "The Gorgeous Tabitha James Kraan Trio" post about my first experience with this oil & the brand, and I also mentioned it in the "Loving at the Moment" post.
Tabitha James Kraan Scented Organic Hair Oil
Tabitha James Kraan is a British brand and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed pretty much all the products I've tried from them, some more than others. In the later category is definitely their Scented Organic Hair Oil*. This precious hair oil contains ingredients that are not only beautiful for the hair and scalp but would also work for the skin. This is not a basic hair oil, far from it. With oils of Safflower, Rosehip, Argan, Sea Buckthorn and Goji Extract, this product is almost too good for the hair, right?! I'm impressed with this blend & as I'm having long hair, I much appreciate a nourishing hair oil that takes care of dry ends in the winter. Not only that, the product smell amazing too! It's a very inviting, beautiful scent with flower oils such as Rose, Rose Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli and Benzoin Resin Extract and Cedar Bark Oil, that make the scent a bit more unisex. It is floral with a woodsy undertone, I love it. Oh and I mustn't forget about the added Amethyst crystal in the bottle. Oh. <3

I use this oil in two ways - as a pre wash hair treatment and as an everyday hair serum. As a pre wash treatment I use it before washing my hair, usually once a week. First I brush my hair and divide it in two sections. Then I warm up some oil in my hands and apply on my hair. I concentrate it on the ends but I apply it all over. Then I massage it on my scalp too. I apply it everywhere but I don't go crazy with it. Yes, my hair look greasy but they're not dripping with oil. I then again brush my hair and put them in a bun. Ideally I would leave it on overnight which I haven't done in ages. A few hours or at least half an hour works too. Then I wash my hair as usual - shampooing twice and I use a conditioner too. Makes my hair really soft, smooth and manageable. Once my hair is dry, I then use it as a hair serum. I use only a tiny amount, that is crucial. Less is more! Instead of using the pump, I unscrew the top of the product and use a drop of oil. Warm it in my hands and apply only on the hair. It depends, but I sometimes do this every day and sometimes only once a week. But I love doing it because it nourishes my hair, smoothes them, makes them less frizzy and more shiny.
Tabitha James Kraan Scented Organic Hair Oil
This is my third or fourth bottle of the Tabitha James Kraan Scented Organic Hair Oil, and is definitely not the last! Currently I don't have any other TJK products in my collection but like I said I tried most of them and I'm impressed. A wonderful haircare line, definitely give it a go if you haven't already. You can check them out at LoveLula.

You can get Tabitha James Kraan Scented Organic Hair Oil here (free worldwide shipping).

Wishing you a great weekend!

Much love,

January Beauty Heroes Beauty Discovery feat. Ranavat Botanics

januar 14, 2020

While the January Beauty Discovery is still available let me share my thoughts and impressions of the box. Spoiler alert, I love it!

January Beauty Heroes Beauty Discovery feat. Ranavat* products: Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser, Radiant Rani Brightening Facial Serum and Jasmine Tonique. You can check out the box here.
January Beauty Discovery Beauty Heroes Ranavat Botanics. Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser, Radiant Rani Brightening Facial Serum, Jasmine Tonique
Ranavat Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser is the Hero of this discovery and I would have to agree that this product is truly beautiful. I don't use cream or gel cleansers regularly and you know, I actually can't even remember when was the last time I used a cream cleanser. As someone with oily and now combination skin I always avoided cream cleansers. Not that stripping gel cleansers did my skin any good but I found cream cleansers to be too heavy and rich for my skin type (teenage oily, acne-prone skin) so I never got around to using them. Then I started using balm and oil cleanser, and mainly water in the morning so if it wasn't for this box, I would probably never gotten around to trying out this beautiful product. First let me mention the whole look of it - I immediately fell in love with the mauve rose colour, the minimalistic yet utterly chic design, and my heart sings when I see a sustainable, recyclable aluminium packaging. Great choice! Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser is really so creamy, luxuriously creamy and so nice to use. The star ingredient is Manjistha, the Ayurvedic herb that is known as the “apex of superfoods” for its ability to cleanse and detoxify. This botanical formula is a cream-slash-balm hybrid. Thanks to its lush texture, it removes makeup, dirt and oil, and leaves skin hydrated and balanced. Let me just quickly address this last sentence and if it really removes makeup. Well it depends on how much make you're wearing. It beautifully removes face makeup but for me it doesn't remove my three coats of mascara, especially if I don't use a wash cloth. Based on my experience if you only rinse it off with water, it won't remove all mascara. I prefer to use it as my second evening cleanser or as an occasional morning cleanser (I often wash my face with water in the morning). I wouldn't really say the skin is left hydrated once you rinse it off but it's certainly not dry, which I enjoy very much. A gorgeous cleanser, highly recommend you trying it out. You can check out Ranavat Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser here.

Ranavat Radiant Rani Brightening Facial Serum is a facial oil I've fallen in love before. It was featured in one of the Indie Beauty Spotlight Discovery by Beauty Heroes and it was actually then and there that I fall in love with Ranavat. Read my review here. An award-winning treatment that packs 18 organic ingredients into an oil-based serum, Radiant Rani has established itself as clean beauty royalty. Based in Oils of Sesame & Rice Bran, the same as cleanser Radiant Rani also contains Manjishta but also there are a bunch of amazing ingredients that I know and love like Turmeric, Saffron, Licorice Root. In my previous review you can check out how impressed I was with some ingredients I never heard of  before (read it here). Radiant Rani has a beautiful scent of Rose with a hint spiciness. The serum help to reduce redness and hyperpigmentation but it's not a one-time miracle. Regular use does the trick. You can check out Ranavat Radiant Rani Brightening Facial Serum here.

Ranavat Jasmine Tonique is for all the Jasmine lovers! As the Radiant Rani it was featured in the Indie Beauty Spotlight Discovery by Beauty Heroes and you can see my review here. This single-ingredient product contains Organic Steam Distilled Jasmine Petals and I'm here for that! I love a good Jasmine scented product and this one definitely is beautiful. Use it in the morning and evening, after applying makeup, love it all day long. You can check out Ranavat Jasmine Tonique here.

Much love to you,

Jana xx

Vegan Cooking #9

januar 08, 2020

Or more like Vegan Baking. :) I was introduced to this dessert by my friend's mom and it's so good! Super easy to make and really delicious. It's fluffy and so yummy, and approved by non-vegans as well. These are not really brownies, perhaps it's more like a sponge "cake".
Easy Delicious Vegan Brownie Dessert, no dairy, no eggs. Biskvit brez mleka in jajc, veganski.
Easy Delicious Vegan Brownie Dessert, no dairy, no eggs. Biskvit brez mleka in jajc, veganski.
Easy Delicious Vegan Brownie Dessert, no dairy, no eggs. Biskvit brez mleka in jajc, veganski.
 "Brownie Sponge Cake"

3 cups* of coconut yogurt (I use the brand My Love My Life)
1,5 cups of brown sugar
half a cup of melted coconut oil

1 cup of coconut flour
2 cups of flour
2-3 tablespoons of cacao
2 teaspoons of baking soda

2-3 tablespoons of jam (rosehip or apricot works well)
dark chocolate

How to:

1. Thoroughly mix together yogurt, sugar and coconut oil. I recommend whisking it with a mixer. Spend some time on this because the more you mix it the fluffier it will be.

2. Then with a wooden spoon mix in cacao and coconut flour, and before everything is incorporated add the flour and baking soda. Also make sure that you sift all the dry ingredients because they will mix and blend together better.

3. Transfer onto a baking tray (20x30 cm).

4. Bake on 180°C for 25 minutes and then let it cool down.

5. Once it's mostly cooled down, spread on marmelade mixed with a bit of water and melt some dark chocolate which you then pour on top. Let that cool down completely and then it's time to enjoy.

Do try out this recipe, you will love the end result, I'm sure!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Much love,

Jana xx

*I use a yogurt cup (180g) to measure the ingredients.
