My 2018 Skincare Discoveries

januar 04, 2019

Hello lovelies! How are you all doing? It's already the 4th of January, but I think I can still wish you a very happy New Year! May it bring you an abundance of love, joy, health and wealth. I didn't really know what to put up as my first post in 2019 so I bite the bullet, listen to one of my wonderful followers on Instagram (hi Anna!) and gathered the products I fell in love with last year. I focused on skincare and really tried to narrow it down to just one product per category, but I completely failed haha. It's always good to have options when it comes to skincare, isn't it? I picked the products I currently have in my collection and those that I tried for the first time last year (with one or two exceptions).
New Discoveries, favourites from 2018. Earthwise Beauty, Ayuna, Lena Wild, Ranavat Botanics, Wabi Sabi Botanicals, Flower and Spice, alteya Organics, One Love Organics, Live Botanical, Isla Apothecary, Leahlani Skincare
Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Face Cleanser, Ayuna Artisan Nourishing Soap
Let's start with cleansers, with cleansers I mainly use in the morning and sometines in the evening. Ayuna Nourishing Artisan Soap* (review) is hands down the best bar of soap I tried for my face. It's truly divine and I adore it. It lathers so well, it has this yummy sweet scent and ingredients that work for all skin types - it's both hydrating and detoxifying. I love using it when I need a little pick me up, a morning refreshment or when I want a super thorough second cleanser in the evening. I got this cute little Ayuna sopa in their AMMA Travel Set* (get it here) or you can get the full sized soap here. Both of these links are from Beauty Heroes where members can take advantage of 15% discount. Ayuna is a Spanish brand so if you live in Europe you can shop their products straight from their website here.

Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Face Cleanser* (review) is a concentrated foaming cleanser for all skin types. This beauty is very calming, soothing and also hydrating. It's perfect for winter mornings when all you want is a gentle cleanser that won't strip your skin. The ingredient list is beautiful and I'm all for all the soothing ingredients it contains, like Marshmallow, Calendula and Chamomile. This cleanser will last ages because you only really need a tiny little bit - two or three pumps are plenty. It has this gel to cream consistency and doesn't really lather all that much and I kinda like that. I feel that makes it even that more gentle and non-stripping. You can get Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Face Cleanser here (you can always use my affiliate code "Loveliness" for 15% off your order). In Europe available at Reina Organics (see here) and Eminessences (see here).
Leahlani Skincare Pamplemousse Tropical Enzyme Cleansing Oil, Inlight Beauty Face Cleanser Beauty Heroes
For my evening cleanse I fell in love with Leahlani Skincare Pamplemousse Tropical Enzyme Cleansing Oil* (review). This cleanser is so beautiful! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea because it does contain a synthetic ingredient that makes this cleanser rinsable with water without the need to use a wash cloth, but personally I'm fine with it. So yeah, Pamplemousse is my go to cleansing oil when I need something quick to remove all my makeup or when I want my bathroom to smell heavenly (which honestly is like every day). It has a sweet citrusy scent of vanilla & grapefruit, which I love. The whole experience of using this cleanser is so nice and who doesn't love a fuss-free routine, especially late at night? Apply, massage, rinse with water, done. You can get Leahlani Pamplemousse Cleansing Oil here. In Europe available at Eminessences, Reina Organics, So Natural Beauty.

Second evening cleanser I fell in love with last year is the Face Cleanser* from Inlight Beauty. Inlight was a brand I wanted to try for literally ages and last year it was featured in November Beauty Heroes Beauty Discovery (see here) and I can easily say that this is not the only Inlight product I love. This cleanser is your standard cleansing balm but also it's much more than just a "standard cleansing balm". It has a grounding scent, is very emollient and beautifully and effectively removes my makeup. To rinse it all off you have to use a warm wash cloth and honestly, that is the best part of my evening skincare routine. I do love a good rinsable cleanser like Pamplemousse but I will be forever in love with using balms and oils that you have to remove with cloths. The feeling of warmth when you put on a cloth is one of the best feelings in the world. It's little things like that that make me happy. This beautiful product is also 100% organic, the whole line is. Inlight is a UK brand and you can get it here or if you're a Beauty Heroes member get it here with your 15% discount.
Earthwise Beauty Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist Wabi Sabi Botanicals Indie Beauty Spotlight Discovery Limited Edition Beauty Heroes The Offering Ageless Ritual Face Mist
Facial mist

Earthwise Beauty Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist* (review) was the first toner/face mist that popped into my mind when thinking about last year's faves. This is not a new product but technically it did go through a slight reformulation and I have to say that it's better than ever. With Cistus Hydrosol, Aloe Vera, gem and flower essences, this is both a facial and an aura mist. Infused under moonlight, this unique mist is great for the skin (hydrating and great for all skin types) and your whole body, your soul, your surroundings. I did have to slightly get used to the scent but now that I did I think it's so beautiful. Indeed, I am impressed. You can get Earthwise Beauty Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist here (use my code "Loveliness" for 15% off your order).

Second mist is The Offering Ageless Ritual Face Mist* from Wabi-Sabi Botanicals (review). This one is also so special to me and that's saying a lot because this one contains only hydrosols and no aloe vera juice, which I always prefer to have in my facial mists because they're more hydrating that way. The Offering contains Frankincense and Orange Blossom hydrosols and is truly ever so beautiful. I have to say that the packaging, the stunning picture on the bottle really speaks to me. The scent is floral, citrusy, woody, warm, grounding. Love. I got it in one of the Indie Beauty Spotlight Discoveries by Beauty Heroes which you can get here (my review of the box here).
Alteya Organics Rose Otto Regenerating Concentrate Love Lula, Live Botanical AER Hyaluronic Acid Serum

2018 was the year of serums so it was terribly hard to choose my fave (here you can check out one of my posts I dedicated to serums). So the first serum discovery was AER Hyaluronic Acid Serum* from Live Botanical (review). This serum is great for all skin types, even very sensitive skin. With Aloe, Green Tea and Hyaluronic Acid, AER gives such a boost of hydration, doesn't have a scent and I love that it doesn't clash with other products. It's super lovely, the packaging is beautiful and it's also affordable. Yes, yes, yes. I got this Live Botanical AER Serum in April Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box (see my review here). You can get it at Live Botanical here. In Europe available at Eminessences (see here).

Alteya Organics Rose Otto Regenerating Concentrate* (review) is this rich-in-roses serum that I honestly didn't expect to love this much. It has a strong scent of roses, it's very hydrating, soothing, doesn't clog my pores and is just so beautiful. Oh goodness, how many times can I say beautiful in this post haha? This serum is designed as an "anti-aging" serum so I recommend it more to those who are over 30. You can get Alteya Organics Rose Otto Regenerating Concentrate here.
Flower and Spice Soothe and Repair Daily Moisturiser, One Love Organics Skin Dew Coconut Water Cream

First half-ish of the year I was all about One Love Organics Skin Dew Coconut Water Cream* (review). I didn't really post about it as much as I loved it but know that I did and still do. This cream is super lightweight but also hydrating and just a wonderful creation. It quickly sinks into the skin and smells like coconut/coconut water. This is one of the products I wish I would use more cause it really is gorgeous. I got Skin Dew Coconut Water Cream in April Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box, the same as the Live Botanical Serum (review here) and it's also available in Art of Organics store here.

The second moisturizer to mention is Soothe and Repair Daily Moisturiser* (review) from Flower and Spice. This is an absolute stunner! This is one of the best products I've tried last year and my love for it keeps on growing. Very moisturizing and hydrating, it's so creamy and luscious and I simply can't get enough of it. With Rose and Coriander this cream is a true gem and I love using it every single morning. I have combination skin and I didn't experience any clogged pores while using it, only super soft, hydrated, soothed skin. Love. You can get Flower and Spice Soothe and Repair Daily Moisturiser here.
Lena Wild Harmony Bloom Oil, African Botanics Fleurs d'Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil Boxwalla, Ranavat Botanics Radiant Rani Illuminating Serum Indie Beauty Spotlight Discovery Beauty Heroes
Facial oil

I had to choose three. First is African Botanics Fleurs d'Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil* (review) which is in my opinion the best oil ever! This oil contains plant based Retinol, Baobab, Marula, Kalahari Seed Oil and much more. It is honestly one of the most potent, active and effective facial oils I've tried. Not every single product works overnight, well this one does. It transforms my skin through the night, making it less inflamed, more calm and even. It does it all and I'm so so impressed. I got this beauty in August Boxwalla Beauty Box (see my review here) which sadly is no longer available but you can get Fleurs d'Afrique here.

Lena Wild Harmony Bloom Oil* (review) is the only facial oil I've tried, used and finished last year. What does that tell you? That I bloody love it! This oil is perfect if you have imbalanced, combination, oily, acne prone skin. It's balancing, doesn't clog the pores or cause breakouts, it actually helps to heal them faster. The oil is lightweight, it is fast absorbing and also has this lovely floral scent of Geranium. I think that this oil will forever be one that I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone but especially to those with problematic skin. You can get Lena Wild Harmony Bloom Oil here.

Ranavat Botanics Radiant Rani Illuminating Serum* (review) is one of those rare facial oils that blew me away upon first application. Ranavat Botanics is a wonderful brand and based on my experience this is one of their hero products (as Jeannie at Beauty Heroes would say). It smells of Roses with a hint of spice, it's quite lightweight and brightening. I actually put it in my previous post where I talked about brightening products (you can check it out here). In general I'm very pleased with Ranavat Botanics products and I think they're a gorgeous brand. I got their Radiant Rani Illuminating Serum in one of the Indie Beauty Spotlight Discoveries by Beauty Heroes here (read my review here).
Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm
Face balm

Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm* (review) is the best facial balm I've tried last year. Oh my goodness, this is truly something else. Yasuni contains only potent plant butters and oils, no beeswax, no essential oils, so it's great even for sensitive skin. This balm is super lightweight, it's featherlight and doesn't really feel like a balm. It's very mildly exfoliating since it contains fruit oils with enzymatic properties that help to resurface the skin. It doesn't clog my pores, it's healing and it doesn't feel heavy or greasy. Really special, like all Earthwise Beauty products. You can get Yasuni Face Balm here ("Loveliness" saves you 15%).
Flower and Spice Instant Glow Claming Exfoliator Lavender and Fennel

I had to choose the stunning Instant Glow Calming Exfoliator* from Flower and Spice (review). This product has a beautiful scent of Fennel with a hint of Lavender that is making me want to use it more often than just once a week. But I don't do that cause really there's no need to. Instant Glow really gives you an instant glow and I love that it works so quickly. All you really need are a few minutes. First you massage it over your skin for a minute and then leave for a minute as a mask. Rinse off, done. It's very effective and sometimes it makes my skin a little red (but only if I don't follow the instructions and leave it on for more than just two minutes) but I always have more radiant and plump skin afterwards. I'm such a fan. You can get Flower and Spice Instant Glow Calming Exfoliator here.
Ayuna Balm Volcanic Revitalizing Face Mask Beauty Heroes Level Up Discovery
Isla Apothecary Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask Love Lula
Face mask

I love, love, love a good face masks and I had more that I wanted to talk about but in the end I went with "just" two. Ayuna Balm - Volcanic Revitalizing Mask* (review) is like Fleurs d'Afrique facial oil from African Botanics, I don't use it every day but when I do I know that the next day my skin will be super happy and radiant. I use it about twice a month or so (I would definitely do it more often but this baby ain't cheap!) and every time I rinse it off I'm thinking to myself "thank you for being here for me" haha. Dramatic but it's true. Based on Activated Charcoal or Active Carbon this mask is not only purifying and detoxifying but also very calming - it always reduces inflammation. That's why I especially love it when my skin is either congested or when I squeezed all the blackheads I found on my skin. It just makes everything more even and oh so nice. What else can I say but that I'm already dreading the day when I run out of it. I got Ayuna Balm Volcanic Revitalizing Mask in Arjun's LEVEL UP Discovery by Beauty Heroes (check it out here).

From expensive to more affordable, here I have the Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask* from Isla Apothecary (review). With Coconut, Sandalwood and Turmeric, this mask is simple in its ingredients but very effective. It's very softening and hydrating because of the coconut powder but also brightening because of the amazing turmeric. This mask can also be used as a cleanser and exfoliator, but I would suggest applying it more in the evenings rather in the mornings, because it can give a slight yellow tint to the skin. Besides a few drops of water you can also add some raw honey and some other powder mask to dilute it a little bit and that way it's more than fine to use in the morning as well. There are a few brands that impressed me last year and Isla Apothecary is definitely one of them. You can get their Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask here.

There are so many other gorgeous products I had the pleasure of trying out last year and you better believe when I say that it wasn't easy to choose. I hope you enjoyed reading my faves/new discoveries from 2018. Spot any of your favourites??

Love you so much,

Jana xx
