Face Mists are So Beautiful

november 13, 2018

Hello lovelies! Hope you are having a great start of the new week. I have a question for you - do you love toners and facial mists? For the longest time I didn't really appreciate them in all their glory and always thought about them as an almost unnecessary product in my skincare routine. But now all is changed. I love facial mists so much and I can't get enough of them. I think I know why is that. I used to use toners, like proper toners which in my mind are those products that you have to apply with a cotton pad (I would recommend using washable organic cotton pads, cause you know environment). The ones I used were full of alcohol and conventional ingredients, and they just didn't do anything good for my skin or they even dried it out and irritated it. I then started using facial mists which in my opinion are products that come in spray bottles which you just simply mist on your face. Facial mists can either be flower hydrosols, like rose water hydrosol, which I used to use religiously but to be honest they don't really do much for my skin other than refresh it, or mists that contain different flower hydrosols, plant extracts, aloe vera, glycerin and such. The later are my absolute favourites and those are the mists I deeply fell in love with. Well I still love a good rose water hydrosol to set my makeup or refresh my face throughout the day. So without further ado, here are the face mists I currently have.
Organic natural face mists toners. Amly Botanicals, Sias Seas, Leahlani, Lilfox, Alteya Organics, Earthwise Beauty
Earthwise Beauty Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist
Earthwise Beauty Cistus & Moonlight Face Mist* is described as pore-minimizing and hydrating toner for all skin types. A very special mist which I've really been drawn to it ever since its slight reformulation and EWB's rebranding. This isn't just your plain face mist but a very unique and beautiful mist - as is their sourcing of the main ingredient Cistus hydrosol. They tracked down an artisan distiller of wild cistus in Portugal whose samples were special. The hydrosol is floral, sweet, rich and full, honey-like, and somewhat resinous in a good way; clearly made with love and care. Cistus continuously receives more love & care when it arrives at the EWB's headquarters, because after they receive a new shipment of what they like to call "Portuguese beauty water", they wait for the next full moon to infuse it under the moon overnight. Oh so beautiful. Why Cistus hydrosol? Because it has many skin benefits: it is recommended for reducing signs of aging, from wrinkles to lack of skin firmness, and is pore minimizing, naturally antibacterial (also anti-viral and anti-fungal), anti-acne, and nurturing, yet non-drying and extremely mild. There's also Aloe Vera Juice and the mist is also enriched with a few gorgeous flower and gem essences, including Rainbow Moonstone, Clear Quartz, Pacific Northwest Pink Phlox. Vegan and handcrafted. I'm in love. This face mist smells like Cistus and this for me is a scent that I had to use a couple of times to get used to it but now I really like how grounded it makes me feel. It's hydrating, non-comedogenic and does help to slightly minimize pores. It's so nice and I can't get enough of it. You can get Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist here (code "Loveliness" saves you 15% - one time use only).
Amly Botanicals Beauty Sleep and Digital Detox Silver Rich Face Mists
Amly Botanicals Digital Detox Silver Rich Face Mist* is my newest face mist and I'm obsessed with it to the point I almost used it up completely. I just talked about it in my previous post (see here). Digital Detox is a detoxifying face mist that combats the effects of environmental and digital pollution. Its name says it all - it is indispensable for urban commutes, air travel and when using computers and mobile devices. No wonder I almost used it up completely since I'm spending too much time at my computer and on my phone and so I reach for this mist quite often, not only in the morning and evening but also throughout the day. This mist has a long list of ingredients, which is very typical for Amly Botanicals products, especially their stunning face mists. There is Aloe Vera, Himalayan Pink Salt, Frankincense + Marine Actives, Neroli, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood. It has a very unique scent and like I said in my previous post, I can smell Ylang Ylang in the bottle but once I mist it over my face I don't. The scent is as special as is the mist itself. This is only a 30 ml bottle but now I want a full bottle! I got this beauty in the November Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box*, which you can still get here or you can also get the digital Detox straight from Amly Botanicals' website here.

Amly Botanicals Beauty Sleep Silver Rich Face Mist*. Since we're already talking about the British skincare line Amly, Beauty Sleep is another one of their precious face mists. I'm almost out of this one too and I just can't bring myself to use it up cause it's so lovely! I got it in the February Boxwalla Beauty Box* (read my review here) and I've been loving and savouring it ever since the end of winter. Beauty Sleep is a restorative face mist that was designed especially for use at night to support natural healing sleep. Beauty Sleep has a beautiful array of ingredients, including floral waters of Neroli, Lavender, Geranium, Valerian Root, and more that will soothe and repair the skin. The star ingredient is Snow Algae that grows on glaciers and snow. Studies have shown that the extract of Snow Algae when applied to living cells, extends their longevity & revitalize skin by boosting both the expression of a longevity gene (Klotho) as well as the cellular energy enzyme AMPK. It also strengthens the skin barrier & preserves collagen. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? It smells of Ylang Ylang and Cistus, and it's funny how in my review I said that I prefer this scent to the EWB Cistus and Moonlight Face Mist* (see here). After EWB's reformulation I'm completely fine, well more than fine with EWB's face mist so I'm not gonna do any comparison. I will only say that Amly's mist doesn't have such a strong scent of cistus because it contains a bunch of other ingredients as well, whereas EWB's only contains Cistus hydrosol. Anyways, I really love both. You can get Amly Botanicals Beauty Sleep Silver Rich Face Mist here. Btw their Radiance Boost Silver Rich Face Mist is amazing too (review here) & you can get it here.
Siam Seas YEN Heal and Hydrate Toner
Siam Seas Yen Heal and Hydrate Toner* is a mist I received in the March Beauty Discovery by Beauty Heroes (see my review here). This is hardly a toner or a mist, these two words don't make this product justice - it's a serum, an essence actually, packed in bottle with a spray mister. #TonerNotToner is perfect to describe this amazing product. Like all other mists I've mentioned so far, Yen also contains the soothing and hydrating Aloe Vera, and there are also 27 botanical extracts in this toner (many of them native to Asia). There are hydrosols of Cucumber, Geranium, Lavender and Chamomile and light oils of Raspberry, Cucumber Seed, Prickly Pear and Sacha Inchi. There are also some very interesting ingredients like Tamarind Extract, Terminalia Chebula, Kacip Fatimah. This toner is really something else and even though it has a spray nozzle it's best to apply by misting it in your hand and then tap it on your face. Settling may occur and the mist doesn't dispense the toner evenly so do yourself a favour and mist it in the palm of your hand rather than directly on your face. I use this serum toner when my skin needs hydration because it really beautifully hydrates my skin. Yen is also healing and it just really is an incredible product. More than perfect for this time of year. Love. You can get Siam Seas Yen Heal & Hydrate Toner here (Beauty Heroes members have 15% discount).
Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator Moisturizing Facial Mist
Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator* was one of the sidekicks in the September Beauty Discovery by Beauty Heroes (read my review here). This is my second bottle of it and the first time I liked it but now I really love it. Josh's products are well known & loved and I get why. This facial mist contains vitamin infused Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, a few oils like Jojoba, Marula, Hemp Seed, Almond, and other potent ingredients such as Ashwaganda, Turmeric, Calendula, Dandelion, Chamomile. It has a beautiful scent of Ylang Ylang and has the best spray mister with the finest mist. It's hydrating, radiance boosting and just oh so lovely. This smaller plastic bottle is more than perfect for travel but me being me I have to say that I would prefer glass packaging. Nonethelessit's a truly lovely products. You can get Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator here (Beauty Heroes member have a 15% discount).
Leahlani Citrus + Citrine Regenerating Toning Mist and Hannes Dottir Mineral Mist
Leahlani Citrus + Citrine Regenerating Toning Mist is your girl for a glowing, revitalized, and radiant complexion. This Aloe Vera based mist contains flower waters of Blood Orange, Neroli, Calendula, there's Witch Hazel and Turmeric, and each bottle also houses little Citrine gemstones, that were purified in the Hawaiian sea and sun. Citrine emits a strong vibration of joy, prosperity, energy, and abundance. It's one of my favourite crystals. The mist is hydrating, energizing, has a lovely scent and is simply beautiful, like every other product created by Leah. Get Citrus + Citrine Regenerating Toning Mist here. In Europe available at a few shops, I got mine at Reina Organics here.

Hannes Dóttir Mineral Mist* was in the June Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box (read my review here). I have to say that I really like this mist more than I imagined I would. I didn't really know the brand before it was featured in this AO box and honestly I wasn't really expecting much. Described as supremely calming, a multi-vitamin Icelandic Mineral Mist that tones your skin while infusing the complexion with vital nutrients, this mist is formulated with unique ingredients to balance moisture, calm redness and promote a healthy, luminescent glow. The ingredients are a bit different to the other mists I've mentioned - there are Glycerin, Silica, Choline, Iodine. I'm not really used to ingredients like this, mists usually contain different hydrosols and plant extracts. It's scented with Spearmint Oil and is therefore really refreshing. Like Yen from Siam Seas this one also doesn't work well as a makeup setting spray but is very lovely to apply in the morning to refresh the skin. You can get Hannes Dóttir Mineral Mist here.
Alteya Organics Pure Bulgarian Rose Water and LILFOX Mr. Fox Sandalo Sandalwood Toning Mist
LILFOX Sandalo Sandalwood Toning Mist* is from the first ever Men Discovery Mr. Fox from Beauty Heroes (see my review here) and yes, I kinda stole this product from Jaka. I recently mentioned this mist in a post dedicated to a skincare routine using mainly LILFOX products (see here). This mist contains four ingredients, including sustainably harvested Sandalwood infused with smoky quartz, and Lactic Acid, which gently exfoliates the skin. I would say it has a very manly scent, it's earthy and aromatic. Even though I prefer light floral scent I have to say I'm really enjoying this mist. The one thing I have noticed with this mist that I found very interesting is that it doesn't vibe well with Earthwise Beauty's Resiliency Face Serum* (which you can get in the December Boxwalla Beauty Box*). I'm not sure what it is but the combination of both make my skin flushed and red. Each on its own doesn't give me problems but together the simply don't work. If you have both do try the combination, I'm curious if you will get the same reaction. You can get LILFOX Sandalo Toning Mist here (Beauty Heroes members save 15%).

Alteya Organics 100% Pure Bulgarian Rose Water* is the only mist I have that contains only one ingredient - distilled Rose Water, made from fresh, organic Rosa Damascena blossoms - one of the most valuable and fragrant oil-bearing roses. As this is one Rose Water, without any humectants like aloe vera or glycerin, which helps to attract water to the surface of the skin, and also delivers hydration to the deeper layers, I don't use it as my first layering step in my skincare routine (before serums and oils). I use it as my makeup setting spray and it works absolutely beautiful like that. I believe that applying a face mist after you apply your makeup is quite crucial and I can't imagine not doing it! A mist blends all the powders and creams together with the skin and just makes look everything better + it helps makeup to last longer. Definitely try it if you haven't already. You can get Alteya Organics 100% Pure Bulgarian Rose Water here.

I really do enjoy facial mists so much and you know to be quite honest with you, I just got three new mists today! Very excited about that. :)

Love & light to you all,

Jana xx
