Flower and Spice Instant Glow Calming Exfoliator

oktober 19, 2018

Hello lovelies! Hope you had a great week. Today let me share with you a new skincare line (it was launched this June) that has been receiving quite a lot of love, and with good reason. I want to talk about a very special brand Flower and Spice Modern Apothecaryfounded by a beautiful woman & fellow Slovenian, Karmen Novak. Karmen moved to the Netherlands a few years ago and that is where she created her products (but they are made in Switzerland). Karmen studied organic skincare science at UK-based Formula Botanica, which is the leading accredited Organic Cosmetic Science School (Lena from Wild Beauty Apothecary, which will soon be known as Lena Wild, also studied there). Karmen's love and passion for natural skincare led her to start experimenting with different botanicals to develop truly natural products that not only transport the senses through scent and texture but powerfully nourish and care for the skin. Her love is shown in her products, which are just so beautiful and effective. I'm very impressed. There is just something so beautiful about them. I love the name of the brand, the products all have such amazing & divine scents and they are just so very lovely. I wanted to write a post dedicated to all three Flower and Spice products but that would take me a little while longer to put together so I opted to write about their exfoliator first.

Flower and Spice Instant Glow Calming Exfoliator* is a very interesting and truly effective exfoliator. First I have to talk about the scent. Oh my, it is so stunning! It smells heavenly of Fennel & Lavender, and I simply can't get enough of it. While I'm writing this review, I'm constantly opening the jar and smelling it. You better believe I'm doing my oohs and aaahs. So beautiful. Fennel and Lavender Flower Waters are actually the first two ingredients in Instant Glow, and it is said that these two ingredients improve circulation and prevent water loss. Plus there are also Lavender and Fennel Fruit Oils. Using spices in products is very unique and I haven't really seen many brands doing that. I'm pretty sure this will become a trend in the upcoming years. I know fennel as a plant that aids and improves digestion but I didn't know that fennel seeds have anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. That is amazing and so beneficial for acne-prone skin. Among the ingredients are also Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Blueberry Extract, and more. The main active ingredients that make this product an exfoliator are Bamboo Buds and AHA Fruit Acids.

Instant Glow is a two-in-one exfoliator, meaning that it works as a mechanical scrub and enyzmatic exfoliator/mask. That's also how you use it. It's really very easy & quick. You only need two minutes to achieve smooth, soft and glowing skin. Instant Glow has this gorgeous creamy but also grainy, and very luscious consistency that you apply on your skin with gentle circular movements. You will feel the small Bamboo buds and this is the first step to get radiant skin. You should do this for about a minute or so. If you have sensitive skin rather start with a shorter massage and see how your skin reacts to it. At Flower and Spice they recommend to avoid this first step, the manual exfoliation, if you have very sensitive skin with rosacea or atopic dermatitis. The second step in this process is leaving the exfoliator on your skin as a mask, for a minute, and here the AHA Fruit Acids will to their job and enzymatically exfoliate dead cells. I love using it once a week or every ten days, it depends on my routine and other products I'm using. The first time I used Instant Glow I filmed my first impression on my IG stories and I left it on for a bit longer and so after I rinsed it off, my skin was flushed and red in some places, especially around the eyes. But that only happened to me that first time, when I didn't follow the instructions to a T (because of course I had to film myself in the process). Also, increased circulation in the skin isn't bad so I'm not complaining.
