Evening Skincare Products on Rotation (aka I wish I had Three Faces)

september 04, 2018

I've been going back and forth with my evening skincare routine and my skin is kinda hating it. I had a feeling it would but it's so hard to pick and choose a set routine while having all these absolutely stunning products. I do always strive to have a regular routine and I almost always change or add just one product to the already existing routine. That's how I can really notice if and how a particular product works. But at the moment I'm all over the place. And before I go any further with this I know that I'm completely and 100% aware that this is a #firstworldproblem. NOT. I'm so very grateful to all the brands and companies who want to work with me so the least I can do is to give their products a fair chance to try and review them for you. Which I love doing! I do take it seriously cause I know that I share a lot of products with you that are quite expensive so I really want to try them properly and thoroughly. I hope you know that. Anyways, I'm grateful for everything I have so let me share my new(ish)-to-me products that I currently have and would love to use every. single. evening. Not sure where I'm going with this intro but the products I'm going to talk about today I either already reviewed or I'm just going to share my initial, first impressions.

African Botanics Fleurs d'Afrique Boxwalla Beauty Box. Plant based retinol.
African Botanics Fleurs d´Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil* (review). Let's start this post with a bang. This African Botanics oil was featured in the August Boxwalla Beauty Box which btw you can still get as a one-time box here (or if you subscribe for three months: US here and international here). This oil is on a whole different level! I'm always a bit vary (or at least I try to be) of products that are super hyped and raved about, thinking to myself they cannot possibly be that great. Well I was so wrong to think that about this one because it. is. so. incredible. It's bloody amazing, it's what it is! This beauty screams luxury and the effect it gives on my skin is non-comparable to any oil or product I have ever tried before. It contains plant based Retinol, Kalahari Melon and Marula Seed Oils, Rosehip, Rooibos, Honeybush, Jasmine, Rose, Immortelle, Microalgaea. This is one potent oil so I tend to use it more as a treatment, either once a week or more, it really depends. This is one of the products that shows immediate results and it truly transforms my skin through the night. It's brightening, firming, lightweight, it reduces redness and inflammation, it just transform the appearance and texture of my skin. Stunning! First time trying African Botanics and to say that I'm impressed is an understatement. I love pairing Fleurs with Ayuna Cream in Light, both products are incredible on their own but together they are even more beautiful and effective. And to my absolute joy I will receive another African Botanics product - it's going to be in the October Boxwalla Beauty Box. This time it will be all about their Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum and I truly cannot wait!! You can get the Boxwalla box here. Check out African Botanics products here.
Ayuna Less is beauty Cream Light. Beauty Heroes August Beauty box
Ayuna Cream Rejuvenating Treatment (Light)*. Is there really any words left for me to describe how I feel about Ayuna and their unbelievable products? Ayuna was the brand featured in last month's, August Beauty Discover by Beauty Heroes (see my review here) and the Cream Light was their Hero product. Ayuna is known for infusing their products not only with beautiful plants but also with science and I would have to agree with the description "forward thinking green beauty". The Cream is vegan and preserved with natural probiotic. There is Pomegranate Seed, Carrot Root and Cotton Steam Cell Extracts, Shea Butter, Squalane, Turmeric, Gotu Kola. The formula goes perfectly with the name of the product - this cream is lightweight and it beautifully absorbs into the skin, leaving it hydrated, soft and more balanced. Ayuna products always make such a huge difference in my skin and I can't rave about them enough. Even though this cream is light and would be perfect as a daytime moisturizer, I prefer to use moisturizers in the evenings because of the SPF I'm using (Farizad's Veil + an oil serum). For the last few months I've been really enjoying having a fairly minimalist skincare routine, so I can't be bothered with applying five layers of skincare products. Also too much hydrating and moisturizing products together can clog my pores so I tend to keep it more minimal. Anyways, this cream is absolutely gorgeous and it's always a super special treat when I use it. Love it so much. You can find it here (BH members have 15% off) or if you're in Europe you can get it here.
Earthwise Beauty Yasuni Face Balm and Resiliency Face Serum
Earthwise Beauty Yasuni and Resiliency. I have a few new EWB products to try and review for you guys and believe me that I get the most questions about Ava's brand and her products. I completely understand why! (insert heart eyed emoji) I'm really trying to use these two products exclusively to really see how they perform. Resiliency Face Serum* was previously known as Carrot-a-day Serum (review here). Described as firming, depuffing, lifting gel serum, great for reducing acne. There's Aloe Vera, Carrot Seed Essential Oil, Helichrysum. This serum is very lightweight and feels cooling on the skin, and yes, also depuffing, but luckily I don't have a massive problem with that. I really like how it feels on my skin. The second EWB product is their NEW Yasuni Face Balm*, which I've already proclaimed my love for on Instagram (see here). I also love their Tigress Face Balm (review), such a gem for acne-prone skin and by far the best face balm for oily skin. Yasuni is also great if you have problems with acne, blackheads, congestion and also if you have sensitive skin, since it doesn't contain any essential oils. Another difference from Tigress is that Yasuni's star feature is its enzymatic mild exfoliation from fruits (Acai, Buriti). Not to mention its extremely lightweight texture, it is even lighter than Tigress. It's not quickly absorbed into the skin but nonetheless it truly feels like feather and like you're not wearing anything. It's a dream. I cannot wait to test them out some more but in the meantime you can also get the samples, if not the whole jars of them. Get them on EWB's website here (affiliate code "Loveliness" gives you 15% off your order). In Europe available at Eminessences and Reina Organics.
Flower and Spice Midnight Beauty and Soothe and Repair
Flower and Spice Beauty Midnight & Soothe and Repair. I desperately wanted to talk about Flower and Spice products and this post is the perfect opportunity for that. So far I only mentioned them on my Instagram (see here). There are some brands that I instantly connect with and this is one of them. I first heard of them by one of my lovely friends on Instagram, the lovely Sarah (@greendaisy81) AND coincidentally at almost the same time of day, the lovely F&S founder Karmen contacted me if I wanted to try her products. After a quick browse through their website I was like oh yes, please and thank you! Karmen is actually a Slovenian (!!) who lives in the Netherlands where her beautiful brand was created, and the products are made in Switzerland. Karmen currently has three skincare products and they all have gorgeous scents. I just feel good energy from them and it's hard for me to stay away from Karmen's products. Plus I'm only seeing very positive reviews of them. First product to mention is the Midnight Beauty Rich Revitalising Serum*, which has all these stunning ingredients such as Prickly Pear, Argan, Sacha Inchi, Coriander, Rose. The scent, oh the scent. Smells like Coriander, I think. I would describe it as subtly spicy and herbal. Very nice. First word that comes to mind to describe it is nourishing. There's also their Soothe and Repair Daily Moisturiser* which I know should be used in the morning but for me this product is reserved for nighttime use. There's also Prickly Pear, Coriander and Rose, but also Shea Butter, Aloe Vera and Oat Extract. It has the same scent as the serum, a bit stronger. The cream is lightweight and is quickly absorbed into the skin but it is still hydrating. More to come when I use them for longer. Get Flower and Spice products here.
Lani Tropical Night Serum vegan
Lani Tropical Night Serum*. Here I have another serum that has the name "night" in the name and at Lani they say "our silky serum works all night to replenish your skin with much-needed moisture, vitamins and nutrients." I do like the sound of that and you know what I love even more? The ingredient list of course! Night Serum contains Cacay (and I tried pure, 100% Cacay Seed Oil and really loved it), Squalane, Passionfruit, Prickly Pear and Jojoba oils. I love these ingredients! I haven't tried the oil yet but it sounds very hydrating and moisturizing. It also has this super intoxicating scent of Jasmine. It's quite strong but oh so lovely. I like Lani's products and their packaging is so lovely. I haven't tried all of Viola's products but my fave would have to be her Tropical Cacao Detox Mask and Fruit Radiance Mask. Check out Lani's products here.
Moss Skincare Illumina Vitamin C Exfoliating Serum
Moss Skincare Illumina Vitamin C Perfecting Treatment Intensif* (review). Like the African Botanics Fleurs oil, I use this serum as a treatment and not every single evening. This product was also in one of the stunning Boxwalla beauty boxes (in the April box). Illumina is a gorgeous and effective serum, that is both exfoliating and full of vitamin C. Contains Pumpkin Enzyme, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (a stable form of Vitamin C), White Willow Bark, Moth Bean Extract, herbal infusions of Burdock Root, Magnolia Bark, White Tea, and more. This potent serum works magic on hyperpigmentation spots - it reduces and fades them (like Fleurs), it reduces inflammation, smoothes the skin. It's a stunning serum and I love incorporating it into my evening skincare routine. It pairs beautifully with Flower and Spice Midnight Beauty Rich Revitalising Serum and I think the combination with Lani Tropical Night Serum would be gorgeous as well. You can get MOSS Illumina serum here.

Hope you liked this post and have a lovely day!

Much love,

Jana xx
