Brand Review: Wild Beauty Apothecary

avgust 28, 2018

I have a brand review for you today. I've never done a brand overview before but I feel like I should do one for Wild Beauty Apothecary, a skincare line made in London. Why? Well the first reason for this is that I have their complete skincare line, which at the moment are two products: an oil serum and a face mask. The second reason is that I feel really close to the brand based on their philosophy and inspiration behind it. Third reason is that I actually had the absolute pleasure of meeting the duo behind the brand, the lovely Yelena, an organic skincare formulator, and her husband Dany, a creative designer. We spent like 5 hours together and do I really need to add anything more?! They are so nice, friendly, funny and just good people. We had a lovely time and I hope we meet again. Oh and did I mention that the products Yelena created are beautiful and that is actually the main reason I'm even writing about Wild Beauty Apothecary.

At Wild Beauty Apothecary they strongly believe that nature and beauty should be within everyone’s heart, mind and home. For them, it all started with the skin. They are using carefully selected natural and organic ingredients from plants, flowers, herbs, nuts and seeds. "More than just protecting and nourishing, their skin-loving products encourage you to take time out and immerse yourself in aromas straight from the natural world." I love the ingredients they use and that they also think about the environment! They use glass bottles and their paper boxes are actually "Tree Free". They are made from 100% cotton, which is a byproduct from the cotton production of the fashion industry. That's amazing, isn't it? I've never seen that before. The packaging can be recycled as paper. Their labels are compostable, they are made out of agricultural waste. Label’s adhesive is made out of sugarcane and it is biodegradable. "To maintain your bottle looking new, please avoid touching the label with wet hands." More info on their website hereWild Beauty Apothecary Harmony Bloom Oil, Rescue Mask. Wild Beauty Apothecary Harmony Rescue Mask for oily, combination, acne-prone skin. Powder mask, detoxifying, brightening
As I said Wild Beauty Apothecary currently has two products, both are from the Harmony collection. First I want to talk about the Rescue Mask*, a "superpowered yet gentle treatment that helps detoxify and remineralise skin." I recently talked about this mask in a post "5 Beautiful & Effective Powder Masks" (see here) so you may have read a little bit about it already. This facial mask combines mineral rich, detoxifying White & Green Clays, antioxidants rich Matcha Tea, White Willow and vitamin C rich Camu Camu. Due to Rice Powder the mask is effective but still gentle and not stripping. It contains oils of Yarrow and Lavender which give the mask its calming scent. This mask won Silver Award in Free From Skincare Awards in ‘Problem Skin’ category, so you better believe it's good. Find more info here.

I usually mix powder masks with warm water and some raw honey, sometimes I also add a bit of oil. I love adding honey because it's hydrating and anti-bacterial at the same time and because I don't need to worry too much that the mask will dry on my skin super quickly. I ALWAYS spray my face with either water or toner when using masks that can dry up on the skin, so there's none of that tight feeling and also because the ingredients are more active and they work better that way. I find this mask to be detoxifying, gently exfoliating, calming and brightening, if you use it regularly. I love that it's a gentle mask and therefore I think it would be great for pretty much all skin types. I think it's a good mask to have if you live in a city and are surrounded by pollution. It's also a great mask to have if you have imbalanced, oily, combination and spot-prone skin. Check out the Harmony Rescue Mask here.

And the next product is the Bloom Oil*, which I have to say is my fave of the two. I love it so much! It's not shown on the photos but I used almost a whole bottle of this oil, it is just so beautiful and I have been using it ever since I got it, which was like a few weeks ago. This oil is suited for most skin types, but like the Rescue Mask, it's especially suitable for imbalanced, oily, spot-prone skin. The Bloom Oil was the first product Yelena created and she says it was "the first seed that planted the idea for creating Wild Beauty Apothecary." She goes one saying that "this precious facial oil is so dear to me. We grew alongside one another, and I lost count of the trials it took to achieve its final formulation." And what a gorgeous formulation it is!

Bloom Oil contains an array of beautiful ingredients, starting with Jojoba, Rosehip, Safflower, Evening Primrose and Hemp Seed Oil. There is Squalane, Sea Buckthorn, Cranberry, Blackcurrant, Carrot, and more. I'm in love with all these natural ingredients, that are mainly organic or wildcrafted. The oil has a few essential oils like Jasmine, Sweet Orange, Rose but I mainly smell Geranium. It's a lovely floral scent which like I said has been accompanying me every morning for the last few weeks. Bloom Oil is lightweight and I find it a gorgeous AM oil. It is balancing and my skin has been really doing well with it. My skin tone is more even, skin is soft and just more balanced aka there's less congestion in my skin. It's also hydrating and pairs beautifully with my beloved Farizad's Veil SPF** from Earthwise BeautyCheck out the Harmony Bloom Oil here.
Wild Beauty Apothecary Harmony Bloom Oil, Rescue Mask. Vegan, organic, natural, handcrafted, glass packaging, eco friendly
I'm very impressed with Wild Beauty Apothecary and I highly recommend their products! The two products are vegan, made with lots of organic and wildcrafted ingredients (and 100% natural), packaged in these beautiful glass bottles with a chic and minimalistic design. Love everything about them. Suitable for all skin types but definitely get a sample of them if you have problematic, spot-prone, oily skin. You will love them, I'm sure.

You can find Wild Beauty Apothecary products on their website (see here) and you can use my code "Jana" to get 15% off. You can also find their products at a few online shops (see stockists here), including The Green Jungle Beauty Shop, where you can also use my code "Jana" for 10% off your order.

Much love,

Jana xx

UPDATE: As of October 2018, the brand changed their name to Lena Wild (see here).

3 Things I'm doing for my Health

avgust 22, 2018

A title like this can almost sound pretentious, like I live a super healthy life and have it all figured out. I don't but I wanted to share with you my journey and hopefully inspire you to live a healthier & more mindful life too.
1. Get outside + meditation. Unfortunately I sit on my ass all day long so I really try to go out for a walk outside as much as possible. If I'm completely honest I should and could do it every single day but sometimes I'm just too lazy or not in the mood. My preferred way of keeping my lymph flowing is by going for walks into forest or by the river. I ALWAYS feel so good when I'm in nature, surrounded by trees and let me tell you that forest bathing is a true thing and I'm pretty sure it's the best thing you can do for yourself. Great for the body and mind. Another very relaxing thing that I also try to do weekly if not daily is meditation. That's just another thing that always gets me in a better mood. Stress is a huge problem in our lives nowadays and these two things really help me to feel more zen and at peace with myself. But don't think I'm perfect, I'm no zen master, I just try to do these two things as often as possible. They make me feel really good. The same as stretching, which I also try to do regularly. Not only to feel better in my body but also because I am at the computer all day and because I can otherwise have problems with my back (hello scoliosis). Seeing as I've now already mention three things, not just one, I will also say that yoga and pilates also do wonders for my body and mind.

2. Eat lots of vegetables + fruit + healthy fats & drink a ton of water. I'm not a nutritionist but we all know that all these things are so very important for our health and when there's all this abundance of veggies in the summer you really can't find any excuse not to eat all the rainbow every day. That's why I love making smoothies and I've been especially into juices lately. They are so delicious and you really can make it all about veggies (+ an apple or two) and they still taste very delicious. I'm curious have you ever looked into drinking straight up celery juice right after you wake up? I tried doing it for longer but I only managed to complete one week. It has quite a strong flavour (I can easily describe it as disgusting) but it has sooo many benefits, including that it's an anti-inflammatory, it aids in proper digestion (which is SO! important for radiant skin + food rich in probiotics and prebiotics), it hydrates the body, it's cleansing, and the list goes on. I also want to mention healthy fats and I mean the essential fatty acids (omega 3, 6 and 9). We have water and fat soluble vitamins so including food that is rich in healthy fats is very important, especially for women. I love seeds, nuts, different plant butters (peanut, tahini), hemp seed oil, black seed oil, coconut oil, avocado. Personally I think that eating fish isn't a great source of these essential fatty acids because firstly I don't think we should eat animals and this actually should end with my first point but to give you one more reason - fish and other beautiful sea animals live in plastic which means they eat the plastic (+ mercury) and at the end of the day I don't want to eat that, thank you very much.

3. Use organic & natural beauty products. Skin is our biggest organ and I believe that some ingredients can be absorbed into the body so I choose to use only natural and organic products. Ever since I started showing interest in using skincare and other beauty products at like age 14, I have to say that my skin never looked as good as it does now and I also think that hugely comes down to the products I'm using. I have a lot of favourite brands and products, as you may know from my reviews and it always makes my day when one of you writes me a message that you love my recommendations. Best feeling ever! So yeah, if you're not already on natural & organic train with me, then definitely hop on because you will love it.

 Bonus: make sleep a priority.

Hope you liked this post. Now tell me what do you do to stay healthy and happy?

Much love to you all,

Jana xx

Ere Perez Rice Powder Bronzer in Tulum

avgust 20, 2018

If there is one makeup product I thought I really don't need it's bronzer. Boy was I wrong! I started using bronzers a few years ago and my ride or die bronzer was Lily Lolo's Pressed Bronzer in the shade Miami Beach, which I still have and love. But there is a new bronzer in my life that I kinda love even more. Well they're different, one is matte & not very pigmented but buildable and the other contains a bit of shimmer and is very pigmented. That is the Ere Perez Rice Powder Bronzer in the shade Tulum*. Oh my word, it's so gorgeous!
Ere Perez Natural Cosmetics Rice Powder Bronzer in the shade Tulum. Love Lula

I talked about this bronzer before (see here) and it really is such a wonderful product. At Ere Perez they say "There is only one ultimate bronzer and this is it!" That's a very bold statement but I have to say that I kinda agree. As you can see this bronzer has two shades and I use both of them. I actually love mixing both shades together, they work very well on my light complexion with yellow undertone. The bronzer has a fine, smooth texture with some gold shimmer but nothing too noticeable. There's no glitter or huge shiny particles, just some shimmery particles that are in fact more prominent in the pan than on the face. I love that, cause I don't like glittery or super shimmery products on my face. It gives that sun-kissed, bronzed look that I like but only when it's achieved with makeup. I always wear face sunscreen (Earthwise Beauty Farizad's Veil is my absolute fave!) and I think everyone should. So yeah I try not to get a lot of tan, especially on my face so using a bronzer like this gives me all the feels and that sun-kissed look, without any sun spots & other hyperpigmentation marks. Did you know that wearing spf is one of the best things you can do to keep your skin healthy & supple? It really works wonders and supports well aging.

This Rice Powder Bronzer in very pigmented so a little goes a long way. I apply it on my cheeks, forehead, on the bridge of my nose and just like all over the face where the sun naturally hits. Sometimes I also apply it as an eyeshadow or more like a crease shadow. I don't apply too much cause I prefer a more natural look (as you may know already) so you should really look closely at the photos to see the difference with and without it. It has a good lasting power but it doesn't last a whole day. Well maybe it would if you would use more but on me it doesn't and because I don't use a lot, my makeup still looks good at the end of the day.

The Ere Perez Rice Powder Bronzer in Tulum is really so beautiful and I highly recommend it. Talking about recommendations, it was actually the gorgeous Nic (@caprinic) who recommended it to me and I cannot thank her enough! The product is cruelty free and vegan.

You can get it here.

Have a wonderful week!

5 Beautiful & Effective Powder Masks

avgust 17, 2018

About a week ago I did a poll on my Instagram stories asking you & my lovely IG followers, if they you use powder masks. Almost 90% of you said yes, which was both surprising and very exciting because firstly, I didn't expect you to love powder masks so much (some say it's too much work) and secondly, I'm going to host a contest with a brand that is very close to my heart and it's all going to be about their powder masks. I love masking and there is just something about powder masks that make the whole routine just that more special. It's an act of self-care and self-love and I'm pretty sure we all need more of that in our lives. Before I share with you 5 gorgeous and unique powder masks I just want to say that I pretty much always mix them with water & raw honey. Sometimes I also add a bit of an oil serum. I love adding honey because that way the mask doesn't dry too quickly and because honey is just amazing - antibacterial, hydrating and softening.

Earthwise Beauty Sungod Face Mask. Brightening, strenghtening
Earthwise Beauty Sungod Face Mask. Brightening, strenghtening
Earthwise Beauty Sungod Face Mask* is described as "a reparative mask for all skin types". The mask was created for those of us who "always crave sun rays, who worship the sun's power, and who, during dark winter months, dream about sun-washed beaches and cliffs". Me, me, me! I'm screaming over here that that's SO me! This mask was made for me. Have you ever read EWB's description of their products? I adore their stories behind the products and all the details about them. Sungod may be for times when we crave sun but I actually love using it in the warmer months. Why? Because it contains ingredients that are skin brightening and they simply make the skin more healthy and radiant. There's Wildflower Pollen, Calendula, Comfrey, Turmeric, Maitake & Shitake Mushrooms. I love the addition of mushrooms, I find that very unique. I find this mask to be very potent so sometimes some redness can occur, but know that it doesn't contain no essential oils so it's not irritating. It's like they say, Sungod is "designed to gradually yet significantly improve the skin over time". It's not a one-time miracle but when used regularly this mask really comes through and makes the skin thicker and overall improved. It's healing and nurturing. Gorgeous after-sun skin treat but also a mask that is so lovely to use all year round.

I have a standing code for you - use "Loveliness" at the checkout and you will get 15% off your Earthwise Beauty order. Get Sungod Face Mask here. In Europe available at Reina Organics and Eminessences.
H is for Love Propolis Regenerative Face Mask. Purifying, detoxifying, brightening, reviving
H is for Love Propolis Regenerative Face Mask. Purifying, detoxifying, brightening, reviving
H is for Love Propolis Regenerative Face Mask* is described as "an absolute miracle; full of rare and precious ingredients that stimulate cell renewal and rid the skin of impurities, leaving your face smooth and radiant". And you know what? I agree with it being an absolute miracle. This mask is just so good! It's everything and more: purifying, stimulating, regenerating, brightening. It evens out my skin tone and it really is the mask to have in your beauty cupboard. Forget about the name Propolis, this mask is vegan and doesn't contain any Propolis. But there are other stunning ingredients in this beauty: Clays (French Green and Kaolin), Camu Camu, White Turmeric, Raw Cacao, Clove and a few more. Like Sungod, Propolis is also very potent so for me mixing it with some raw honey and oil is a must. Sometimes I experience some tingling sensation with this one, but nothing too crazy, you just know it's working. I have a full review of this beauty on my blog (see here) and if you read some other rave reviews know that everything is true. It is that good.

You can get Propolis Regenerative Face Mask here. In Europe available at So Natural Beauty.
Isla Apothecary Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask. Love Lula. Brightening, softening.Isla Apothecary Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask. Love Lula. Brightening, softening.
Isla Apothecary Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask* is a mask that will "soothe, restore moisture, and nurture even the most sensitive skin to greater resiliency". This mask is brightening, softening and moisturizing. It has a very minimal ingredient list but all three ingredients pack a punch and are there for a reason. There is Coconut, which is moisturizing, nourishing and softening, Sandalwood, which is balancing, healing and "provides relief to all skin irritations from acne to sunburn", and Turmeric, which is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, and it also works wonders at reducing hyperpigmentation and redness. Gorgeous trio of ingredients, am I right?! A word of caution with this one: because of the Turmeric it can slightly tint the skin yellow so I recommend mixing it with honey and using it in the evening, rather than in the mornings.

You can get the Refine + Radiate Beautifying Face Mask here.

Leahlani Skincare Kokoleka Ritual Dessert Facial Mask. Detoxifying, rich in antioxidants
Leahlani Skincare Kokoleka Ritual Dessert Facial Mask* is a "luxuriously detoxifying super-food ‘dessert mask’". We are all always talking about Leahlani's Mermaid Mask but you guys, we mustn't forget about the gorgeous Kokoleka! This mask is detoxifying & gently purifying, softening, reviving, rich in antioxidants. Kokoleka definitely needs to get more attention (from as well!) because it's so beautiful. It contains an array of stunning ingredients like Cacao, a few different Clays, Coconut Milk, Acai, Molokai Black Sea Salt, Activated Charcoal. It's as they say "delicious and nutrient-dense indulgence that your skin has ever experienced". And we also mustn't forget about the gorgeous scent of chocolate and orange, so yummy!

Get Kokoleka Ritual Dessert Face Mask here. In Europe available in a few different online shops, like Reina Organics, So Natural Beauty and Eminessences.

Wild Beauty Apothecary Harmony Rescue Mask* is a "superpowered yet gentle treatment, that helps to detoxify and remineralise the skin". This mask is detoxifying, gentle, balancing and also slightly brightening. This beautiful mask contains Green and White Clays, Matcha, White Willow, Camu Camu, and a few more. I'm really impressed with Wild Beauty Apothecary's products and everything about them is just so lovely. The mask comes in glass packaging and in the paper box, which is actually made from 100% cotton, a byproduct from the fashion industry (which you can recycle as paper). Suitable for most skin types with a particular love for the imbalanced, oily, combination and spot-prone.

SULTRY with Prim Botanicals

avgust 12, 2018

Prim Botanicals is a beautiful brand (quite literally!) raised in Philippines and based in New York, founded by Stefanie Walmsley. The brand is known for their fun, fresh vibe and plush, tropical ingredients and packaging. They are crafted in small batches which is always the way to go, so they are as fresh as possible. Also don't you just love their packaging and design?? Prim Botanicals is the brand that is featured in the August Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box*. I've said it before that August has been such a wonderful month for beauty boxes and Art of Organics is no exception.

In the August Art of Organics box you will find two products from Prim Botanicals: The Body Oil and The Hair Oil. Check it out here.

Art of Organics August SULTRY Clean Beauty Box Prim Botanicals The Body Oil
The Body Oil Tone and Glow (review) is from Prim's Botanicals Core Collection and is packed with nutrient-dense oils like Hazelnut, Camellia, Sweet Almond, and oils from Amazon like Andiroba and Pracaxi. The oils is very lightweight and you could say it's a dry oil. I love that it doesn't leave a greasy or oily residue but you still get all the goodness that body oils give - soft, smooth and nourished skin. It's a beaut and I can even use it in this hot weather. I am using it very sparingly though because I'm sweating and I'm sticky as it is haha. Prim Botanicals products have strong scents and more times than not I prefer milder scents. That being said this body oil has a very lovely scent of Jasmine, Rose, Bergamot and Black Pepper. Floral, sweet, strong, sultry, tropical. It's a unique scent and I'm not the only person who is using this body oil as a perfume. It's so nice! You know what? I think I have to go to another beach vacation this summer because this body oil would be a perfect after-beach, after-sun evening body oil/perfume. And the packaging? Oh I love it and I'm so pleased Art of Organics chose Prim Botanicals' print for their box sleeves. Check out The Body Oil here.
Art of Organics August SULTRY Clean Beauty Box Prim Botanicals The Hair Oil
The Hair Oil (review) has the same beautiful packaging (with a pump), beautiful ingredient list and a unique scent. This beautiful creation for silky and soft hair contains Coconut Oil, Camellia, Argan, Moringa, Marula. So much goodness! This hair oil is very moisturizing and I love how it makes my hair feel. And look. Hair are definitely softer, smoother and shinier. You can use it in a few different ways and my favourite is definitely to use it as an overnight hair treatment. I concentrate the oil on the ends of my hair but I also use it everywhere else, even on my scalp. Because you know what? Healthy scalp is happy scalp and that means healthy hair. If you don't use hair oils (and I don't mean "hair oils" that contain one plant oil and the rest are silicons and stuff like that) you should definitely start using them because they really make a difference in the texture and the look of the hair. I haven't been using hair oils as religiously as I had when I was dying my hair blonde. I heard that you either can have long or blond hair and I was like naah, I will have both so I started using hair oils all the time and my hair were indeed long and blond, and also healthy. When I stopped dying them I didn't feel the need to really use hair oils that much because virgin hair are in fact so much healthier and softer. But even then a good hair oil makes such a difference.

The Hair Oil rinses off completely with my shampoo & conditioner solid bar from Natural Wisdom Spa (check it out here) and leaves my hair soft and shiny. I also love to use it as a final grooming step and apply just a tiny little amout of oil on dry hair to add shine and a bit of moisture. Oh and the scent? It's very warm, musky, spicy, kinda sexy and yes, also sultry (the theme of this box is so perfect!). It contains essential oils of Lavender, Rosemary, Bitter Orange and Vanilla but I also think that Tamanu and Black Cumin Seed Oil make the scent what it is. I prefer the scent of The Body Oil but I do find this one quite comforting and I like smelling it on my hair. Check out The Hair Oil here.

Both Prim Botanicals products are gorgeous and if you are in need of some skin and hair nourishment then these are definitely the one for you. As I said, these two Prim Botanicals products are available in the August Art of Organics box. If you would like to get the box you have to subscribe to Art of Organics, two months minimum. Mono Naturoils Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil

avgust 09, 2018

Last cleanser in my "let's review three cleanser in a row" is from a UK brand Mono Naturoils. I'm so in love with this brand and everything they stand for. I wish all brands were like Mono Naturoils, they really stand for so many amazing thing (read here) and they truly align with my philosophy. The brand was founded by a super friendly and warm Tracy & her husband Kevin. I find the most joy when I support small, family businesses. They use ingredients for their therapeutic properties, and working in synergy, these potent, nutrient-rich botanicals and raw ingredients deliver both noticeable results and a truly sensorial and pleasurable experience, helping you to create your own unique self-care rituals every day.

They source their ingredients from around the world with respect for our natural environment and its resources, from only the most trusted sources who share their ethics and values. They are 100% vegan and cruelty free, without any affiliation to brands or companies that engage in animal testing or buying ingredients from companies that do. Their products are handcrafted and made in small batches for optimum freshness and effectiveness. Mono Naturoils products are infused with crystals (yes!) and they only use packaging that is recyclable and often reusable. LOVE. They want their products to not only be skin and animal friendly, but also as earth friendly as possible. Read more about their philosophy on packaging here. Mono Naturoils products are also very unisex and they also give back, donating a portion of sales to projects and causes they feel passionate about. I mean what is not to love about Mono Naturoils?? And I didn't even mention their stunning packaging and beautiful formulations.
Mono Naturoils Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil. Ethical, vegan, organic, natural, infused with crystals, clear quartz
Mono Naturoils Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil. Ethical, vegan, organic, natural, infused with crystals, clear quartz
I mentioned Mono Naturoils a few times before on this blog of mine but this is the first time that I'm dedicating one of their products a standalone post and a full on review. Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil* is a cleanser that I've enjoyed ever since I received it and lately I've really been gravitating towards it. This cleansing oil contains less than 10 botanical oils, like Rice Bran Oil, which is rich in omega 6 and 9 fatty acids and is traditionally used in Japan to cleanse skin, Rose Blossom in Sweet Almond Oil and Pumpkin Seed Oil, which I really love to eat (rich in omega 6). There's also Perilla Seed Oil which boasts one of the highest amounts of Omega 3 in any plant oil, Papaya and Castor Seed Oils. Of course there's also Cucumber Seed Oil, which is soothing, refreshing and anti-inflammatory. The cleansing oil has this beautiful refreshing and clean scent of Cucumber with a hint of Roses. It's such a lovely and soothing scent, perfect after a stressful or relaxing day.
Mono Naturoils Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil colour
This oil is very lightweight and gentle but also effective. I love that it doesn't contain any essential oils so it doesn't irritate my eyes and I can easily use it to gently remove my mascara and other eye makeup. I apply it on dry skin, on top of my makeup and gently massage it all over my face. Since it contains only oils it has to be removed with washcloth which is in fact my prefered way of removing makeup and washing my face in the evenings. I place the warm washcloth on my face, wait for a few seconds for steam to do its thing and then gently rub the oil, makeup and dirt off my face. I then rinse the cloth and repeat with a clean side. I love that it contains Castor Oil so I really get that deep cleanse and the cleansing oil does nicely remove my makeup but sometimes it doesn't completly remove my mascara (which is very normal for me and cleansing oils) so I go in with another cleanser. Especially in the summer I really make sure to properly cleanse my skin in the evening and that's why I use two cleansers. I'm more sparingly in the mornings and sometimes only splash my face with water.

What I love about this oil is that it's so soothing and calming, both to my skin and to my senses, it's balancing and it also doesn't strip my skin. It's lightweight and doesn't leave a greasy residue but a fresh and clean skin. It's a beaut.
Mono Naturoils Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil. Ethical, vegan, organic, natural, infused with crystals, clear quartz
Rose & Cucumber Cleansing Oil is suitable for all skin types, even for sensitive skin because it doesn't contain any essential oils. The oil is infused and amplified with the high vibrational energy of Clear Quartz. This crystal is known as a "master healer" and draws off negative energy. I find it so beautiful and I just love it. The other crystal I used as a prop on the photos is the well known and loved Amethyst.

Another thing to mention with this cleansing oil is that it has won Bronze in The Green Parent Magazine Natural Beauty Awards 2018 Best Cleanser category. Well done! Leahlani Skincare Pamplemousse Tropical Enzyme Cleansing Oil

avgust 06, 2018

It's about time to properly review the amazing Pamplemousse from Leahlani, wouldn't you agree? This is the newest product created by Leah but it's been a few months since its launch so I'm sure you all have seen it by now. I also wrote about it two times before, both times in "current faves": see here and here. I think I should stop calling it my current fave and just say that it's one of my favourite oil cleansers. I don't throw around the word "fave" lightly and so far I have only named one product my fave and that is my beloved Farizad's Veil Sun Reflector* from Earthwise Beauty (review here). But Pamplemousse is definitely one of the top cleansers I have tried and that also says a lot.

Leahlani Skincare Pamplemousse Tropical Enzyme Cleansing Oil* ticks all the boxes for me. It has a lovely ingredient list, gorgeous scent, it truly beautifully removes makeup and leaves skin slightly hydrated and not dry, plus it rinses clean with water. First I want to say that I still have my first impression of it in my highlight stories on Instagram (under "pamplemousse"). My cousin's two year old boy loves to watch my stories where I talk and just the other day we were actually watching them together. A bit cringy for me but they boy loves them. And you should hear him saying the word pamplemousse, it's the cutest thing ever!! Another quick story to share is when he opened up my Fitglow mascara and combed his blond hair with it haha. So I used some Pamplemousse and clean it all out. But enough about that, I'm pretty sure this is only interesting and cute to me.

Pamplemousse (grapefruit in French) contains Macadamia Seed Oil, which is a lightweight and silken smooth oil, and a close match to our own naturally occuring sebum, Sunflower Seed Oil, Pink Grapefruit Peel Oil, which helps to purify, brighten and revitalize the skin. There is Acai Oil, with its impressive amount of antioxidants and strong anti-inflammatory properties, Hibiscus, also known as the "Botox plant", because of its firming and lifting abilities and it also contains natural AHA, and there are also Pineapple & Papaya Enzymes, which help to reduce inflammation on the skin, firm and improve the skins texture. There is also di-ppg-2 myreth-10 adipate, an emulsifier that I've talked about before (see here). At the moment I'm fine with using products that contain this ingredient. The scent of Pamplemousse is divine and just oh so good. I mean Leahlani products ALWAYS smell gorgeous! The cleansing oil smells of Grapefruit and Vanilla, it's warm, inviting, also a bit citrusy. I'm in love.

Pamplemousse has this beautiful rich, orange colour and is packaged in a beautiful frosted glass bottle (+ a paper box). If you follow me on Instagram, then you might see that Leahlani just went through a little rebranding and their packaging now looks even better and more beautiful than it was before (see the photo bellow). Just look at all them colours! I really do love the way it looks now, so stunning.

Pamplemousse is used as every other cleansing oil but it definitely doesn't feel like your typical cleansing oil. It feels velvety, lush and the scent just makes it even that much more pleasant and amazing. About three pumps make the trick for me when it comes to removing my makeup in the evening. It dissolves everything, from my concealer, blush and even mascara. There's no need for tugging the skin, just massage the oil gently onto the skin and it will lift everything, including SPF. After I massage my face for a bit, I love to add some water to my face and the oil turns from clear oil to this whiteish "creamy" cleanser. And then I just rinse it off with water. It's that simple! No need to use a washcloth, just splash your face with water and you're done. Whenever I wear makeup I always like to use another cleanser (like for example the Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Face Cleanser* - review here, or Ayuna Nourishing Artisan Soap* - review here) but in all honesty, you don't even need a second cleanse. The cleanser leaves my skin properly cleansed, fresh and also slightly hydrated (less than the Marshmallow Face Cleanser though - saying this only because I described it in the same way). Leahlani Skincare Pamplemousse Tropical Enzyme Cleansing Oil. Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Face Cleanser

avgust 03, 2018

I have a few cleansers that I would like to review for you and at the moment it seems like that two upcoming posts will also be dedicated to them. So I hope you like washing your face or are in need of a new cleanser. First I want to talk about a cleanser that I've been really enjoying as a morning cleanser, and the other two I'm going to mention in upcoming posts are both oil cleanser, for removing makeup. Now let's have a chat about Earthwise Beauty and their Marshmallow Face Cleanser*.

As you might know already, Earthwise Beauty went through a complete rebranding. They recently revealed their brand new packaging (see my post about it here) and since I got their products in the new packaing (see here), I love their new logo and miron violet glass packaging even more. It looks really grown up, so beautiful and chic. I love the new look and I think they did a very good job with it. They also retired some of their products (for example their Blackstrap Molasses and Frightening Green masks which I loved both so much!) but they also came up with some new product names and new products. They didn't make a big deal of their brand new launches so I will have to make a bit of a buzz when I review them. I've been really into their new Thelma Lip Treatment*, a nourishing and more of a matte lip balm which has been working really well as an overnight lip treatment. The other product is Yasuni Face Balm* which I'm kinda saving for autumn and winter. It doesn't contain any essential oils and was especially created for sensitive, oily, combination skin. I adore their Tigress Face Balm* (read my review here) and I'm sure I will love Yasuni as well. Will keep you posted.

Ok so the Marshmallow Face Cleanser is not a new EWB product but it did have a little re-formulation. I don't have the old bottle of it, only used a sample of that one actually, but as far as I know, the scent is not as strong as it was before. After trying that sample and smelling the product I wasn't really that interested in getting a full bottle of it. The scent really wasn't my fave. But with this new, reformulated bottle, I really don't mind the scent. It is lighter and softer, and not as overpowering as I feel it was before so it doesn't bother me at all. I love a beautiful scent as much as the next person but if a product works and is effective, then I really do get used to a scent quickly, even if I don't like it in the beginning. Anyway, the cleanser does contain a few nicely smelling oils like Chamomile, Blue Tansy, Lemon Balm, Violet Leaf but it smells more like Marshmallow. I think. Or is it the Galbanum oil? I'm not familiar with this "aromatic gum resin". As the EWB founder Ava said under Arjun's photo: "the scent was adjusted a little to make it greener. I added violet leaf and my beloved galbanum. Also the pumpkin oil adds a little to the scent, it is much more fragrant than the previously used apricot kernel oil, with nutty, spicy, and sweet notes." All that being said, I don't even notice the scent anymore because it really isn't strong and also the scent to me isn't the most important thing when it comes to skincare.

Marshmallow Face Cleanser (previously known as Marshmallow Suds Face Cleanser) is described as a "soothing unisex cleanser" and I couldn't agree with more. There are some gorgeous ingredients in this cleanser, like it's always the case with Earthwise Beauty products. There's a herbal infusion of Marshmallow Root, Calendula Flowers and Chamomile Buds, Coconut, Pumpkin Seed, Jojoba and Hemp Seed Oils. There's also Aloe Vera and Glycerin. I've mentioned Blue Tansy and German Blue Chamomile before and these two are super anti-inflammatory, calming, soothing, repairing. The cleanser is all that for sure. Even though they say it "will remove light to moderate makeup" I really haven't been using as my first evening cleanser. I always use an oil or balm cleanser to remove my makeup and then I often use it as a second cleanser. Sometimes I end up with a little mascara left after my first cleanse and this one beautifully removes the last few traces of it. I really like it as a second cleanser in the evenings but when it really shines is in the mornings. I don't always like to use a cleanser in the morning but there is just something about this one that I always gravitate to. Oh you Marshmallow cleanser, you sure are beautiful.

Cleanser feels very concentrated so I like to shake it up before using it. A little goes a long way so two or three pumps are plenty. It's always good to shake product emulsions like this (when there are water and oil components). The product comes out as a mix of oil and lotion and it has quite a unique texture which I would would probably describe as a gel. This cleanser feels very silky, it is mildly-foaming and unlike many gel cleansers, this one isn't drying or tightening on the skin. It actually feels a little bit hydrating & softening and I love that about it so much. It just feels very nice on the skin and I adore that it contains soothing and calming ingredients.

Marshmallow Face Cleanser is vegan, cruelty free and handcrafted. It's very gentle and is therefore recommended for all skin types, even the most sensitive skin. It doesn't clog pores and it also shouldn't aggravate acne. It can also be enjoyed as a body wash, which is especially recommended for people with sensitive or dry skin or skin prone to allergies or eczema.
Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow Face Cleanser for all skin types, very sensitive skin. Code Loveliness 15% off
Marshmallow Face Cleanser is the only liquid cleanser Earthwise Beauty has and in my opinion they don't need another one because this one is stunning. It comes in this gorgeous 100 ml bottle which will really lasts you for ages (the same as Farizad's Veil SPF, read my review of it here). I fell quickly in love with it and I highly recommend it. Love.
