Back in January I’ve received some new EcoTools makeup brushes from Love Lula so I’m more than ready to review them. I immediately incorporated them into my everyday routine so I kinda forgot that they are new and that I haven’t mentioned them on here. I wanted to upgrade from brushes with plastic handles to more eco-friendly version so I went with bamboo handles instead. I ordered three brushes, all for applying face makeup.
First is the EcoTools Bamboo Sheer Powder Brush* made from cruelty free taklon bristles, bamboo and recycled aluminium. I know that taklon isn’t a natural ingredient but I don’t support aka don’t want to use brushes made with bristles that come from animals. The bristles on this brush are extremely soft and the brush is so wonderful to use. “The Sheer Powder Brush is best used with loose and finishing powders for lightweight application, creating a great base for your look.” It is ideal for applying and setting your face makeup, delivering an even, all-over dusting of powder. I love to use it with my Lily Lolo Flawless Silk Finishing Powder and INIKA Mineral Mattifying Powder* (which fyi actually isn’t that mattifying). I like it a lot! You can get it here.
Next is the EcoTools Bamboo Blending & Bronzing Brush* which I thought would be my favourite when I first ordered them. It is nice but I would prefer the bristles wouldn’t be packed so tightly together. You know what it is, even though it is made with duo-fiber bristles I think it would be better if there were less of them. There’s quite a lot and you have to get used to it to make it truly work. It can pack on quite a lot of product so you have to be careful with that but once you get used to it, it’s lovely! I like to start with a tiny amount of bronzer (my fave is still Miami Beach Pressed Bronzer from Lily Lolo) and then go back in with some more if I want to. I love to tap it on my skin first and then gently swipe it on with circular movements. It does blend the product nicely and even though I would prefer less densely packed bristles, I still enjoy using this brush. You can get it here.
The third brush I got is the EcoTools Bamboo Precision Blush Brush*. I was slightly confused when I received this brush because I thought it would be a bit bigger. This brush also has super soft bristles which are densely packed together and the first time I used it I didn’t like it at all. I was used to a brush that was bigger and with bristles that weren’t so densely packed together. As you can see and as the name says – this brush is very precise, which can be a good or a bad thing when it comes to applying blush. At first I ended up with a blotch of blush on a part of my cheek but after a quick blending action my blush was blended very nicely. I learned that this brush works best if I use it like the Blending & Bronzing Brush: first apply the blush with tapping movements and place it where you want it to be and then swirl the brush around with circular movements. As it is densely packed I also much prefer using less than more. I never did like to go in with a whole lot of product so that really isn’t a new thing to me but I think it’s good to mention it for all of you. You can get this brush here.
This review doesn’t read like my previous review of the two H IS FOR LOVE products (see here) but nevertheless I still very much enjoy these three brushes. They look nice, especially the ones with recycled aluminium, they are very soft and they work lovely (when you get used to the density of the bristles haha – mind you that the brushes I used prior to these weren’t as dense as the two brushes are).
Have you tried EcoTools brushes? What do you think about them?
Much love,
Jana xx
