My Latest Mask Obsession

marec 07, 2018

Do you love face masking? I'm obsessed! I have three or four posts in mind to write in the upcoming weeks about masks and I actually already started writing about another mask but then yesterday I really felt the urge to post about my latest obsession. If you love masking and if you love skin brightening products, then this will be the one for you. For this ultimate brightening mask I use three different products and ingredients.

The base of the mask is the Anima Mundi Mangosteen Hibiscus Beauty Superfood. I add a bit of Laurel Whole Plant Organics Brighten Facial Mask and a pinch of Organic Turmeric. All these three are known for their brightening benefits and with regular use, this stuff really helps.

Laurel Whole Plant Organics Brighten Facial Mask
I've reviewed the stunning Laurel Whole Plant Organics Brighten Facial Mask* here and it's hands down THE best mask I've tried for reducing post-acne redness and hyperpigmentation. It really and truly works. I received it in the September Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box and I only have a tiny bit left, which makes me so sad. That's why I've been mixing it with other ingredients, so it will last me just a little bit longer. This precious mask contains a bunch of ingredients with high content of vitamin C, that helps to brighten and firm the skin. There is Camu Camu, Rosehip Fruit, Acerola Berry, Gotu Kola, Calendula, Comfrey, Orange Peel and an essential oil blend. 100% whole plant organic. Do try it out if you haven't already. It's so gorgeous and I can't recommend it enough. Get it here.
Anima Mundi Mangosteen Hibiscus Beauty Tonic Wellness Discovery Beauty Heroes.
The second star product of this "DIY" mask is the Anima Mundi Mangosteen Hibiscus Beauty Superfood*. This product was a part of the first ever Wellness Discovery by Beauty Heroes featuring four Anima Mundi products. Check out my review of the box here. The Mangosteen Hibiscus Beauty Superfood is actually a beauty supplement meant for drinking. I have to say that I don't particularly enjoy the taste so I rather put it on my face. I've already talked about using Hibiscus as a face mask (in this post). Hibiscus is also known as a "botox plant", which means that it's firming and therefore also a wonderful ingredient for mature skin. Hibiscus also contains AHAs so it's naturally exfoliating and brightening. Mangosteen is rich in anti-oxidants and vitamin C so it's also brightening and it can also reduce acne because it has anti-inflammatory properties. As you can see this tonic is very beneficial to drink every day because taking care of your skin internally is always the best thing you can do. I suck it up and drink it occasionally but I much prefer to use it topically. You can get it here.
Organic Turmeric. Antioxidants, brightening, anti-inflammatory
Last but certainly not least is the magnificent Turmeric. Are you already eating turmeric? Do it! Turmeric is rich in antioxidants, it's anti-inflammatory and yes, I will use the same word as I did for the other products, it's brightening. I've been loving it for years and the love just keeps growing and growing. It can turn your skin a bit yellow so don't use a lot and rather use this mask in the evening. You can pretty much get it in every bigger store and health food stores.

I mix and use this mask in the same way as I do the Brighten Face Mask from Laurel Whole Plant Organics. I mix it with a few drops of warm water and add a couple of drops of oil. Here I used the Sensitive Facial Oil by Mono Naturoils. I mix that all together and let it steep for a minute or two and then apply on my face. For this kind of masks I always use my beloved masking bowl & masking brush by Laurel WPO, which were also in the September Art of Organics box. After I apply the mask on my face, I make sure that I have a spray bottle on hand and every now and then I spray some water on my face to keep the mask from drying out. I can easily leave this mask on for half an hour but since it contains a lot of active ingredients I would recommend using it only for 10 minutes at the beginning, even less if your skin is sensitive. Try mixing a little bit of raw honey in it if your skin is more reactive. You may experience some redness but that will go away in no time. With brightening products it's important to use them consistently, so I would recommend using this mask at least once a week. Twice or even three times a week if your skin is fine with it, is even better. Just don't overdo it with other exfoliators, since this mask is also exfoliating. I also highly recommend you use a sunscreen in the morning, especially if you have acne and post-acne red spots. Even in winter and on cloudy days. My fave sunscreen is the Farizad's Veil from Earthwise Beauty (use my affiliate code "Loveliness" for 15% off your order).

What else can I say but happy masking!

Love you lots,

Jana xx
