A Few Supplements

March 27, 2018

I've always been interested in different superfoods and supplements so I wanted to share some new & repurchased supplements I've been incorporating into my daily routine. I tried to eat as many vegetables (which are superfoods in itself) and other healthy foods as I can, but eating supplements actually makes me happy so why not? I know that not everyone is interested in them or believes they work but when you choose carefully you can get many benefits from them. I tend to go for naturally derived, organic and vegan supplements. I have quite a selection but today I want to share only three.
Nutrex Hawaii Pure Hawaiian Spirulina, Terra Nova Vibrant Synergy, Pure Planet Organic Amla Plus. Superfood, supplements, iHerb, Love Lula.

Terra Nova Vibrant Synergy. Vegan. Chlorella, Spirulina, Reishi, Cordyceps. Love Lula.
Terra Nova Vibrant Synergy* is my newest addition and so far so good. Terra Nova is a new-to-me brand and as their first product I went with this one because I liked the ingredient list. At Terra Nova they utilize whole, unadulterated phytonutrient-rich foods and botanicals, many of which are fresh freeze dried (which is a very good thing!). Vibrant Synergy is recommended for maintaining high energy levels and aiding weight loss. Let me just quickly say that a supplement can only do so much when it comes to weight loss and specifically for that reason I don't recommend or support getting any supplement. Don't get me started on those detox teas full of s*it. Just don't buy products only because it says it will help you lose weight. Anywho, let's quickly go through some ingredients in the Vibrant Synergy. As it says in their description there is an extraordinarily high content of chlorophyll, due to Chlorela. There's also Cordyceps, which is an adaptogenic mushroom that may support endurance, healthy energy metabolism, exercise tolerance and oxygen utilisation. Fyi cordyceps might not always be vegan because they can be grown on caterpillars. In the blend there is also Spirulina, Wheat Grass Juice (so not gluten free), Reishi, Ashwagandha Root, and a few more. No fillers, binders, corn, soy, yeast, dairy, animal ingredients, and the list continues. I can't really say if they work because I've only been eating them for one or two weeks but it's always great to incorporate some of these lovely ingredients into my diet. It may be better to get these ingredients separately so you can really check their source but sometimes these kind of supplements are just the thing you may need/want. Get it here.
Pure Planet Organic Amla Plus. Antioxidants, Vitamin C.
Pure Planet Organic Amla Plus. Amla is the 7th herb on the ORAC value list which means Amla is high in antioxidants. It is a whole food source of true vitamin C and tannins. I've eaten Amla before, not on it's own but in Triphala. Triphala is a mix of three fruits and it's antioxidant value is way higer than just Amla. I really have to buy a new bottle of Triphala! Amla or Indian Gooseberry is an Ayurvedic herb that is often times find in Ayurveda inspired haircare treatments. I bought it because I read that it's a great herb for helping with acid reflux. It do find that a bit strange because Amla is rich in Vitamin C which is acidic. Highly acidic food like citrus fruit and tomatoes are best to avoid if you have acid reflux but I have absolutely no problems with Amla. If you're struggling with acid reflux (or not!) you might like this herb so do check it out. I got it here.
Nutrex Hawaii Pure Hawaiian Spirulina. Vegan, Non-GMO, Gluten Free.
Nutrex Hawaii Pure Hawaiian Spirulina is by some described as the best Spirulina out there. It is certified gluten-free, vegan, kosher, halal, and Non-GMO Project Verified. Spirulina easily absorbs heavy metals from the body but also from its environment where it's growing. Hawaiian Spirulina is the only spirulina cultivated in a Biosecure Zone, certified free of pesticides, herbicides and industrial pollutants in Kona, Hawaii. I haven't done a whole research on it but I like the sound of this Spirulina so I decided to give it a go. Spirulina is rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients, it's a complete protein, it strengthens the immune system, supports cardiovascular health, and boosts energy levels. You can get it here.

Here you have it, my three current green supplements all packaged nicely in dark glass bottles. Yes!

Do you also take any supplements and superfoods? How do you feel about them?

With love,

Jana xx
