Beauty Heroes Wellness Discovery feat. Anima Mundi

februar 26, 2018

Do you take any supplements? I do but I'm quite particular with the supplements and superfoods I'm eating. I tend to go for organic, cruelty free, possibly without any synthetic ingredients. When it comes to supplements it's pretty much the same as it is with my beauty products. And you know which are some of my fave beauty products? The ones that come in beauty boxes like Beauty Heroes. I'm thrilled to share with you that Beauty Heroes introduced their first ever Wellness Discovery box featuring four superfoods. As their first brand Jeannie and the Beauty Heroes team decided on the beautiful Anima Mundi potions.

Anima Mundi is a medicinal herb line that integrates native traditions and ancient formulations into delicious, food-based remedies that support whole body health. Anima Mundi was founded by Adriana Ayales, who was born in the jungle of Costa Rica and comes from a long lineage of Shamanic-style healers. Through collaborations with farmers, healers and botanist, Adriana procures botanicals that are beyond organic; they are proven, potent and from the most pristine sources on earth. From farm to pharmacy, Anima Mundi helps preserve indigenous lands and their local economies through traditional medicine making. Amazing! Reading this it's no surprise that Beauty Heroes picked this brand to be in their first Wellness Discovery box.

Beauty Heroes Anima Mundi Wellness Discovery. Curam Elixir, Euphoria Spirit Elixir. Vegan, organic, wildcrafted.
There were four Anima Mundi products in this limited edition Beauty Heroes box: all work synergistically to benefit mind, body and inner sage. I can't pick one that I was the most excited to try out but anything and everything with Turmeric always peeks my interest. So Curam it is.

CURAM ELIXIR* is described as anti-inflammatory and anti-aging beauty elixir, bursting with Turmeric, Camu Camu, Amla, Mangosteen, Rama Tulsi, Black Pepper, Ylang Ylang and Lemon Peel, extracted in Vegetable Glycerin and Filtered Water. Turmeric is mostly known for its anti-inflammatory benefits and is in my opinion THE spice or supplement to incorporate into your life. It's also a great antioxidant, the same as Camu Camu which is full of Vitamin C. Amla as well. Black Pepper enhances and boosts Turmeric's healing powers and the two are a true power couple. It's especially recommended to enjoy it before breakfast for its alkalizing effect on the body, but you can use Curam at any time of day. I usually add it to my water or turmeric latte and that works great for me, but you can also add it to your smoothie, juice or tea. Get it here.
Beauty Heroes Anima Mundi Wellness Discovery. Euphoria Spirit Elixir.
Let's continue with another Anima Mundi elixir, the EUPHORIA SPIRIT ELIXIR*. Fortified with botanical aphrodisiacs, Euphoria is a tincture designed to waken feelings of sensuality, loving awareness, and arousal of the spirit. There are some very interesting ingredients in this elixir and I actually have no idea what they are. For example, there is Muira Puama, Catuba and Yohimbe. But I do know Hibiscus, Gogi Berries and Rose Petals, which are also in the Euphoria. This super blend is also used to uplift the spirit with joy while being a tonic for uterus and prostate. I don't know if this elixir works for me as in I can't say anything much really because I haven't been using it long but sometimes I do feel like I get a little boost of energy from it. It tastes quite good so I just mix it with water and drink. Find it here.
Beauty Heroes Anima Mundi Wellness Discovery. Mangosteen Hibiscus Superfood.
Beauty Heroes Anima Mundi Wellness Discovery. Mangosteen Hibiscus Superfood. Beauty Tonic.
MANGOSTEEN HIBISCUS SUPERFOOD* comes in a big glass jar (114 g) and is in powder form. It contains only two ingredients: Mangosteen Peel Powder and Hibiscus Flower Powder. Both are traditional staples in Rainforest Herbalism, abundant in vitamin C, essential minerals and phytonutrients. Okay so I love Hibiscus! Give me some hibiscus tea, hibiscus kombucha, hibiscus in my skincare. Love. But this powder doesn't taste particularly good. I have to figure out how to enjoy it to make it taste better but I kinda don't feel like adding it to my smoothie so I just mix it with some water, hold on my nose and drink it as quickly as I can. But I do love it for something else - as a face mask. I simply mix it with some water, a couple drops of oil and honey. Hibiscus is known as a "Botox plant" so it is firming and it's also a natural source of AHAs which are known to exfoliate the skin. Based on my experience Hibiscus is also brightening so definitely try it if you have problems with post-acne redness and hyperpigmentation. And be consistent with it and use it once or twice per week. You can get it here.
Beauty Heroes Anima Mundi Wellness Discovery. Coconut Cream Powder.
COCONUT CREAM POWDER* is my definite favourite from this Wellness Discovery. It contains only one ingredient - 100% Coconut Meat. Organic, vegan, handcrafted, sustainable and incredibly delicious! This luscious supplemental powders packed with healthy oils and fiber to support a healthy gut, skin and brain. It can be added to anything but my favoruite combinations are with matcha & turmeric lattes, and cacao. See my previous post on how to create the perfect matcha latte with the Coconut Cream Powder here. This powder brings me so much joy and it really is so, So delicious. Get it here.

I've absolutely loved discovering these Anima Mundi products and I'm so thankful to Beauty Heroes for introducing them to me. Unfortunately this Wellness Discovery is no longer available but you can get all these products in the Beauty Heroes shop here. Members get 15% off.

Have you tried Anima Mundi products? What are some of your favourite supplements and superfoods?

Much love,

Art of Organics LUSH Box feat. LILFOX

februar 22, 2018

The February Art of Organics Clean Beauty Box LUSH* featured three LILFOX products: Flowerball Heart Chakra Body Nectar, Gelsomino Luxury Jasmine Lip Butter and Amazon After Dark Melty Jungle Cleansing Balm. I've tried these products a few times so far and my first impression are great, like I would imagine they would be.

LILFOX is a brand that was born in Miami, Florida, founded by Alexis Rose also known as Madame Fox. She creates skincare potions and elixir infused with wild-crafted, organic plant essential oils and delicate hydrosol phytonutrients. Based on my experience with LILFOX products they are very effective, they have quite strong scents, which kind of remind me of a rainforest or jungle. Or perhaps of something more tropical but not Leahlani-like. Will try to describe each product's scent better down below.

FLOWERBALL Heart Chakra Body Nectar was an exclusive release to Art of Organics and I'm so pleased to have it in my live. This body oil has come at a perfect time since we all know February is the month of love. Not sure if you're into chakras but heart chakra is all about love, joy, compassion. We all need more of that in our lives so keep your energy flowing and you chakra(s) in balance. How to incorporate Flowerball in all this? While massaging it into your skin you can think and send kind thoughts to your skin and your body. "I love you and you're beautiful" are great ways to start. It's actually very easy to think like that when you have a body oil with such lovely scent. It has a complex Jasmine scent provided by two different Jasmine essential oils (Jasmine Sambac & Jasmine Grandiflorum), blended together with Violet Leaf, Bergamot and Pink Grapefruit. It's not your typical jasmine scented product. It's an exotic, sensual, strong, "I can do anything" type of scent. I really like using it. You can get it here.

GELSOMINO Luxury Jasmine Lip Butter contains only one Jasmine essential oil, the Jasmine Grandiflorum and I actually prefer the scent of this product to Flowerball. Among other ingredients it also contains Neroli, which I love. At the first sniff I didn't expect to like this product as a lip balm. To me it smells more like a perfume and sometimes I even apply it on my wrists. I thought it would have a heavy floral taste but luckily it doesn't and I've been loving it on my lips. Gelsomino is vegan, made with Candellila Wax, Murumuru and Cupucua Butters, Maracuja Oil and more. Beautiful ingredient list. The lip balm is light, gives a nice hydration boost and is perfect for daytime use. Get it here.

AMAZON AFTER DARK Melty Jungle Cleansing Balm is like Gelsomino, LILFOX's new launch that I've been seeing all over Instagram. Of the three products I was probably the most excited to try this one. Amazon After Dark is a luscious infusion of Amazonian plant butters, collagen-stimulating Hibiscus, White Willow Bark and skin plumping Camellia. It has a strong scent of Rose Geranium, but there's also Petitgrain and Ylang Ylang, to name two more. This cleanser is designed for use as a deep evening cleanser that you remove with warm wash cloth, and as a light morning cleanser you apply on wet skin and rinse off with water. I've only used it three times thus far. I love using it as your standard cleansing balm: apply on dry skin, massage well and remove with a cloth. It removes all my makeup and leaves my skin skin refreshed and cleansed. I also tried using it as a light cleanser but I don't feel like rinsing it with water removes every trace of it so I will just keep using it in conjunction with a cloth. You can get it here.
If you like Jasmine, strong, floral-based scented products, that are effective and gorgeous, then LILFOX is the brand for you. Unfortunately this February Art of Organics box is already sold out but you can get these LILFOX products in the Art of Organics beauty store. Members always have 15% off their order. Check them out here.

Have a beautiful end of the week!

Much love,

Jana xx

Vegan Matcha Latte with Coconut Cream Powder

februar 20, 2018

I've posted this photo on my Instagram the other day and since I know some of you are not following me there, I'm going to share with you my current drink obsession here as well. This will be another post dedicated to matcha tea but this one with a little delicious twist.
Matcha Latte with Matcha Ninja and Anima Mundi Coconut Cream Powder
Matcha Ninja Matcha Tea
First things first, find a good Matcha tea. I've been absolutely loving my Matcha Ninja matcha. It really is as good as everyone says it is. And more. Matcha is a type of green tea which is ground into a powder that you (can) mix with water and drink. This particular matcha, from Matcha Ninja, is 100% raw and organic, it's smooth and light, with no bitterness. Highly recommend. I ordered it directly from their website (they have free shipping and I'm all about that). You can read more about matcha tea and its benefits here.

Next is the product that changed my matcha latte game. Meet the yummiest addition to my matcha tea ever, the Anima Mundi Coconut Cream Powder*. This is straight up 100% coconut meat, blended to smooth perfection. It is seriously amazing and super delicious. If you like coconut, then you will LOVE this. It's handcrafted & sustainable, organic, vegan, there is no added sugar, just pure 100% coconut meat. Silky and nourishing, this supplement powder is packed with healthy oils (which are especially important for women) and fiber to support a healthy gut, skin and brain. It gives sweetness and a touch of creaminess to my matcha late. But it is not just for matcha lattes, you can also add this powder to your coffee, smoothie, chai and more. LOVE.

Now let's move to the "how to" part of the post. I add one teaspoon of matcha to my cup and pour over some warm to hot water. Not a lot but just enough to mix it well. I always use my TEATOX Bamboo Matcha Whisk* which I love using. I pour in a plant milk of choice, either Rice or Oat milk, which I also heat up a little. Final step is one teaspoon of the Coconut Cream Powder and this dreamy matcha latte is finished.

I've received the Anima Mundi supplement in the first Wellness Box by Beauty Hereos, which is now sold out but you can get still get the Coconut Cream Powder here. You can get matcha tea in many stores but not every single matcha is good. You can get Matcha Ninja matcha here. Bamboo whisk is not really essential but honestly, I can't imagine mixing my matcha with anything else. As for the vegan milk goes, you can find it everywhere or make your own at home.

Let me know if you try it out. :)

Lots of love,

Jana xx

Inner Senses SENSUAL Body Oil

februar 14, 2018

Hello lovelies! Hope you're all having a great day. Actually when I'll be posting this it will be Valentine's Day, so have a LOVEly day. I didn't plan this but you wouldn't believe that I have a product that is in the lines of this day. I'm going to be reviewing SENSUAL Body Oil* from Inner Senses. This is a new-to-me brand but it really isn't a new brand, not at all. Their provenance started over 20 years ago on the white shores of Barbados, where they lived closely with nature, attending the Jasmine plants and Aloe Vera that grew on the farm. Their products are hand blended in the UK, they are cruelty free and they source the most innovative and ethical ingredients.
Inner Senses SENSUAL Body Oil with Rose, Jasmine and Sandalwood
Like I said for the first product from them I picked their SENSUAL Body Oil, which marries the King and Queen of flowers – Jasmine & Rose Otto – in combination with Sandalwood to create a luxurious treat for the skin and the senses. These three beautiful ingredients are mixed in a blend of Organic Sunflower Seed and Apricot Kernel Oils. This product is 92.75% organic and 100% natural. First of, this body oil smells wonderful! I've always been a fan of Jasmine, especially in body care products, and perfumes. There is just something about it that I love so much. It's very aromatic and floral. It's a beaut. But the oil doesn't have a strong scent of Jasmine, like some other products in my collection. I don't really have products with Sandalwood but it really goes well with Jasmine and timeless Rose. Talking about Sandalwood, did you know that there are more types of Sandalwood? The Sandalwood used in this oil is Santalum Album or Indian Sandalwood, which is a small tropical tree that takes many years to mature and this fragrant tree has become a target for illegal harvesting of wild crafted sandalwood in India. Due to illegal harvesting and short supply of this plant in its natural habitat, Santalum album is now considered a vulnerable and threatened species of sandalwood tree in India. I'm not sure how they are dealing with this issue in India, but I'm happy to report that in Australia they were aware of this problem and thankfully they planted Santalum Album trees in the early 80s in response to the unsustainable harvesting of Indian sandalwood.

So what's with the Sandalwood oil used in the SENSUAL Body Oil? I reached out to Inner Senses founder Lisa Basso and she kindly and quickly responded. Her answers were thankfully reassuring. At the moment they're still using East Indian Sandalwood (S. Album) sourced fairly and responsibly through a regulated State sponsored auctions in India. That said, they are slowly phasing in two new Sandalwood oils and will be phasing out the use of this particular oil altogether by May/June 2018. They will start using Santalum Album, from a sustainable plantation in Australia, and Santalum Spicatum, also of Australian origin. Both oils have different therapeutic profiles and aroma. With all that being said I'm so happy to support a brand that knows of this issue and is taking steps to find the most ethical and environmentally friendly solutions. Good job Lisa & the Inner Senses team!
Inner Senses SENSUAL Body Oil Inner Senses SENSUAL Body Oil with Rose, Jasmine and Sandalwood
SENSUAL Body Oil has a beautiful scent which lingers on the skin beautifully. I love that this oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin leaving it soft and hydrated. It is a beaut. I love everything about it but I will say that even though I love glass packaging I'm not the biggest fan of the dispenser. The bottle has that typical "essential oil dispenser" packaging which is called orifice reducer. I mean I'm not that fussed about it to remove it and this way you can't spill the whole oil but I would prefer something else. Not sure about you, but I think that the brand deserves a more chic and beautiful design. But what's in the bottle is really beautiful, so if you're on the market for a new body oil, definitely check this one out.

Have a beautiful day!

With love,

Jana xx
