Art of Organics x Laurel Whole Plant Organics

September 06, 2017

Hi lovelies! How is your September going? Hopefully good! We're currently back in Croatia, enjoying our last summer holidays so September started out great for me. Today I wanted to share with you a new subscription box. Well it's not new but I've never talked about it on my blog so it may be new to you. I'm talking about the beautiful Art of Organics with its gorgeous selection of brands and products, and the ever stunning prints that embrace each box. The creation of Art of Organics has been a long-time personal project for Claire Molyneaux, who's always been drawn to beautiful packaging and claims of efficacy. After suffering from allergies, skin sensitivity and an autoimmune disorder for years, Claire started to research the ingredients in the beauty products she was using and was shocked by her discoveries. That's why she created The Clean Beauty Box by Art of Organics, a monthly, luxury subscription box filled with organic, natural, non-toxic and cruelty-free products, carefully chosen with the intent to create a meaningful experience with every luxe detail. And boy is it luxe! Clare manages to find really exciting and gorgeous products to share in her boxes and those beautiful prints are killing me with their prettiness every time! The lovely floral print on this month's box was created by Jess Bruggink.

The Clean Beauty Box is one that I wanted to try since the beginning and it really is such a privilege and an honour to be able to try this particular one. I don't think I could have received a better one since September box* features the ever amazing Laurel Whole Plant Organics, in my opinion one of the most beautiful brands out there. It's a flower and herb based facial care line using 100% organic, raw, unrefined whole plants, sourced directly from bio-dynamic farms. Completely in love! I also adore their Instagram account where Laurel and her team are showing us snippets behind the brand. It's so nice to see all the flowers and potent ingredients cared for with such love and integrity.
Art of Organics boxes always have a theme and this month's theme is Bright. Being someone who has struggled with spots and hyperpigmentation since like forever, I always love trying out new products that promise to brighten my skin. Enter Laurel Whole Plant Organics Brighten Mask, a repairing, firming + brightening mask, which is the IT product in this month's box. This is a powdered facial mask literally filled to the brim. I almost spilled some out when I opened the jar for the first time! This special mask works to noticeably brighten, repair and firm tired skin. Organic and sustainably farmed Camu Camu, Acerola Berry and Rosehip Fruit are known for their high amounts of high vitamims A, C and E, and these vitamins are recognized and used in many skincare products. Camu Camu is a superfruit rich in Vitamin C, which is shown to repair damaged DNA and sun damage, and can reduce hyprepigmentation over time, restore collagen and increase firmness. Therefore the mask is perfect for mature, sun damaged and scarred skin. Perfect for any kind of hyperpigmentation, also for those post-acne red spots, the one that are quite a regular occurrence on my skin.

Before I move onto my thoughts and experience using this mask, I have to share other Laurel goodies that are in this Clean Beauty Box. Since this month is all about the Brighten Challenge using this Brighten mask, the addition of the Handcrafted Mask Bowl and The Brush couldn't have been nicer! I've been on a hunt for this kind of a ceramic bowl for a while and this one is just perfect. And the brush, oh it is just stunning! Fan treatment brushes are specifically crafted to make application of the delicate, powdered mask even easier. It's vegan, of course, and the unique handle is made from dark walnut from reforested land. Love all these little things that the founder Laruel is so passionate about.

As I said, the theme of this box is Bright and that comes with its own challenge - The Brighten Challenge. You can use this mask in a few different ways and I'm all about developing customize rituals that work best for me and my skin. There are some suggestions on the card that comes in the box but in the end it all comes down to your skin type and the time that you have for masking. After I first tried the mask and didn't have any bad reaction to it (only good), I decided to use it every other night for about 15 minutes. Well I tried to be consistent and even tho I wasn't, the results were really noticeable in a matter of days. I took a few photos of before and then after six days and let me tell you that my red spots were noticeably reduced. I would share the photos with you but they don't make the mask justice + they are not as crisps as I would like them to be.

How to use the mask? Mix about half a teaspoon of the mask with water. No fancy stuff, just water. Preferably a fairly hot water and simply trickle the water with fingers and mix together with the brush. I love that it's a fan brush so you don't really waste any mask by absorbing it into the bristles, like it can happen sometimes with brushes that have denser bristles. I also add a few drops of facial oil and then you let the mask sit for a few minutes. As Laurel says, you let it steep like you would a tea. Which is very logical if you think about it. Then apply on full face, neck and decolletage. I don't do decolletage because it's not that convenient, but it is recommended. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and keep the mask active by keeping your mask hydrated. How do you do that? It's super easy! You don't need to be fancy and use up your fave facial mist. You simply mist your face & mask with water. I'm misting away like there's no tomorrow haha. After 15 minutes simply wash the mask off and apply your evening skincare products. I have to share with you that when I have the mask on, I feel a slight tingly sensation. I wouldn't say it's itchy but I do feel like there's something going on. I get the feeling that this mask is really potent and effective. I don't experience any redness after I wash it off, just clean, brighter and happier skin. I'm not sure if it would be too potent for sensitive skin so perhaps start with 5 minutes and see how it goes. For more tips and tricks, watch Laurel's "how to" video here. I loved it and it's definitely worth a watch.

From the minute I started using this mask I completely feel in love with it and I highly recommend it, especially if you have scarred, sun damaged skin, skin with hyperpigmenation spots (like post-acne redness). As I said, I really noticed a huge difference in my skin and in reducing the redness in my skin, which went away in a few days. It works so well at reducing post-acne marks but I think it works best if you are consistent and use it on a regular. It's not like an instant eraser, so don't expect that, but in my experience it ticks all the boxes and I really recommend it.

What is there left to say? If you love masking, then you will love this box! The box is valued at $116 but you can get all these products for $39! You can subscribe here. Members also receive 15% off of all store purchases. Oh and you can also check out some of their previous boxes that are on sale. If you have any questions, do let me know.

Happy masking!

With love,

Jana
