A Very Effective Detoxifying Mask

May 02, 2017

My skin always loves a good detoxifying mask, especially lately when I've been experiencing some minor bumps and clogged pores after trying out this heavy duty moisturizing mask as a night time moisturizer for a couple of days. The mask is actually gorgeous but not for me as an everyday night moisturizer. And here comes my beautiful detoxifying concoction. I use three different powdered masks + honey and that seems to be working amazingly well. That's why I really like powdered masks, you can mix and match them together and create an ultimate potion for your skin concern. Now all the masks I will mention work very well on their own but I do love me some customization.

First is the gorgeous Odacité Synergie[4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque* (review here). This mask works in four different ways - it's detoxifying, brightening, firming and exfoliating. I find it deeply exfoliating and anti-inflammatory. It really suits my skin and I love using it. I mean how could I not since it contains ingredients like Kaolin, Bentonite Clay, Charcoal, Papaya Enyzmes, Vitamin C, only the good stuff. This mask creates the perfect base for this detoxifying mask.
Next is the Plant Apothecary Not a Spot Acne Treatment Mask* (previosuly known as Zit Zap Spot Treatment Mask). This is one seriously good mask! It's made with three potent ingredients - White Clay, Activated Charcoal, which draws impurities from deep within the skin's surface and organic Essential Oil of Basil, which is a powerful anti-bacterial acne fighter. It's actually supposed to be used as a blemish treatment hence the name, but in the concoction with the other two masks I find it works really well all over my face. If you mix it only with water it can be a bit drying but I always mix my powder masks with honey so that I also get some hydration back into my skin + additional anti-bacterial benefits. I have to say it's a very lovely zit zapping mask.
Last but most certainly not least is the wonderful Neem, which is a tree with white flowers and fruits, discovered in India more than 2000 years ago. It's also known as "Sacred Tree" and due to its exceptional healing properties is one of the most common ingredients in Ayurvedic medicine. Neem is most know for its antiseptic & antibacterial benefits. It's perfect for oily, acne-prone skin, it treats skin rashes, redness, itching, diminishes the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation, it soothes and moisturizes dry skin. Neem is great for all skin types, even for eczema. It's a very lovely ingredient and since it's also one that is most readily available of the three, and it's affordable, I would highly suggest you getting some Neem and start using it as a mask.

Now these three powdered masks/ingredients go perfectly together but to create the right texture I like to add a few drops of water first and then follow up with my true love, Eucalyptus Honey. I'm always and forever going on and on about this honey, it is anti-bacterial and hydrating at the same time, and I truly and utterly adore it. I usually apply the mask for half an hour and rinse off with warm water. My skin is more soft, calmer, less irritated and is actually more evened out, which is especially noticeable the next morning. I have to say that I really found something very good here. Love. Oh and I also love mixing a touch of turmeric in the mask, some skin brightening action never hurts.

With love,

Jana xx
