My Current Cleansers

March 29, 2017

I have to say that my current face cleansing routine is on point. I always loved removing my makeup in the evening, it is such a nice ritual to end the day. A beautiful cleanser definitely makes the whole ritual even nicer and I have to say I've been really enjoying the products I've been using lately. I will start with cleansers I'm using in the evenings.

First product is a balm cleanser, the one and only Bless Beauty Balm by Leahlani Skincare. This is a delicate, silken moisture melt for your skin. A blend of organic and cold pressed oils and butters such as Shea and Cocoa Butter, Argan, Camellia, Maracuja Passionflower, Moringa and Marula Oils nurture and bless the skin. They create a beautiful soft and smooth as silk consistency that is just a dream to use. The scent is equally beautiful. At first it reminded me of lilies of the valley but at a close inspection I detected mostly Neroli. This sweet, grounding scent of orange blossom is infused with soft and tranquil Blue Tansy, which calms the mind and uplifts the spirit. And you know what else? As you can see, Bless is pastel pink! Oh how pretty. The balm wonderfully removes all my makeup and leaves my skin soft and nourished. I noticed I have to thoroughly remove all the balm from my skin with a warm wash cloth so it doesn't leave any residue. It is a slightly heavier balm so for some skin types I would recommend following with a second cleanse using some other cleanser. I will also say that if you have oily, acne prone skin do get a sample first because it contains Cocoa Butter which can clog pores. All in all it's a beautiful balm and I really do love it. The thought of using it in the evening excites me and that's when I know I love a product. Oh and it also feels soothing on my skin which is a big plus in my book!

I follow up with a second cleanser, the beautiful Mallow + White Soothe Cleansing Oil*. This oil is super lightweight, has such a lovely calming scent of cucumbers and does such a great job at removing the makeup. The product is great for all skin types, even and especially for sensitive skin. It's 100% natural and made with only 5 ingredients. It's a beautiful product and I highly recommend it. You can read my review if you want to take a closer look. Okay so that's that for my evening cleansing routine. The only thing left to mention is that I always use a clean, warm wash cloth (cotton or muslin), an essential thing to remove balm and oil cleansers. For my first cleanse I use one side of the cloth and for the second I use the other side. Therefore I always have a clean side to work with. You could just use one product and perhaps use it twice (or follow with a gel or cream cleanser), all you really have to do is to get that makeup off!
Now for the cleanser I'm using in the morning. I have another Leahlani Skincare product. What can I say, Leah's products are so magical, beautiful and effective. Kalima Coconut Cream Cleansing Powder (or should I rather say Dream instead of Cream?!). This has to be my favourite Leahlani product. Kalima is the Hawaiian word for cream and you better believe that your cleansing ritual will never be the same using this product. I've already proclaimed my love for it on my Instagram and every time I use it I fall more in love with it. Kalima contains a bunch of beautiful ingredients like silken Coconut Milk, soothing Oatmeal, vitamin and antioxidant rich tropical fruits, softening Clays, organic Vanilla Beans. Check out the whole ingredient list here. I love that it contains a powerhouse trio of organic Hibiscus Flower, wildcrafted Camu Camu fruit and water activated vitamin C. Vitamin C is brightening and really helps to fade post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. It evens out my skin tone and I couldn't be more pleased with it. But enough about these gorgeous ingredients. As Kalima is a powder, you have to mix it with water in the palm of your hand. Activated with water, the powder transforms into this lovely pink potion with a mousse texture that gently exfoliates and thoroughly cleanses my skin. It leaves my skin smooth and soft. It truly works wonderfully and the thing that makes Kalima even more magical is its scent. As mentioned, it contains Vanilla and Citrus notes (Tangerine & Mandarin) and I have to say my nose really agrees with it. The scent is so SO good and I adore it deeply. Kalima is an absolute stunner! Oh and it also doubles as a beautiful mask and do I dare say it's slightly better than the magnificent Mermaid Mask? I know it's hard to pick and choose products to try first if you're just starting on your green beauty journey, but Leahlani Skincare is definitely a brand you should try as soon as possible because it really is magical. I get my fix at Reina Organics so I don't have to pay any additional charges. Love.
Last but certainly not least is a brand I've been a fan of almost since the beginning of my blog. It's the lovely UK based brand MuLondon. The range is certified organic by The Soil Association, cruelty-free by The Leaping Bunny and registered vegan by The Vegan Society. MuLondon is a member of 1% For The Planet and is a Certified B Corporation. The brand was founded by Boris, who lives in the UK but is originally from Serbia. Boris is so kind and friendly and I always love chatting with him. Boris created one of the most delicious cream I have ever tried, the amazing White Chocolate Truffle Moisturizer. I can't even fathom how is it possible to create such a beautiful chocolate scent with only natural and organic ingredients. Mind blown! The product I wanted to quickly mention here is the Lavender Foaming Cleanser*. This cleanser contains less than 10 ingredients and smells exactly like Lavender. So beautiful. I'm not always a fan of lavender scents but when it smells like this than I'm all up for it. This cleanser is concentrated and you really don't need a lot. A pump or two is more than enough to wash your whole face. I really like using it when I'm in a rush, after a workout or just sometimes in the morning when I feel like lavender. I love that it comes out as foam, it's so fluffy and soft, and you really don't need to add it any water. While removing it you do get that squeaky clean feeling but you don't end up with super tight and dry skin. It doesn't leave any residue on the skin but your skin does feel happy when you apply a toner & moisturizer on top. I agree with their recommendation, I'd say it'd be a great cleanser for oily, young and problematic skin. I think it will be a great cleanser in the upcoming warmer months.
Now it's time for you to spill the beans. Which cleanser(s) are you using at the moment?

Much love to you all,

Jana xx

Lyonsleaf Body Butter

March 24, 2017

I've been really into balms lately. Face balms, body balms, gimme all the balms. Or butters. Funny because it's spring and I'm obsessed with rich and very nourishing products. But since I loved the Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm so much I decided to try another Lyonsleaf product, this time their Body Butter*, which was recently awarded a gold medal at the Skinsmatter FreeFrom Skincare Awards.
Lyonsleaf Body Butter is an intensive moisturizing treatment that hydrates the body for beautifully soft, smooth and healthy skin. This remarkable water-free product uses only natural oils that are absorbed easily into every layer of the epidermis, with no greasy residue. Body butter contains an array of beautiful 100% natural ingredients, 95% of them are organic. The blend of Shea Butter, Coconut, Avocado and Sweet Almond Oils (all cold pressed) create a wonderful butter that glides onto the skin and is nicely absorbed. I love the consistency of this butter. It's not crumbly but soft and almost mousse-like. I'd say it's gently whipped. It's really lovely. The scent is quite nice too. It's a mix of Benzoin Resin (soft, sweet, warm aroma), Clary Sage (woody, herbal), Geranium (floral) and Calendula (warm, subtle). The unique blend of essential oils also helps to balance sebum, while the addition of calendula penetrates deep into the dermis to promote collagen cell regeneration and speed healing of any minor inflammations. It's quite a relaxing scent. The only thing I have to mention here is that Lyonsleaf doesn't recommend using this product regularly during pregnancy. They do feel it is safe for occasional use.
Lyonsleaf Body Butter is cruelty free and vegan, and suitable for all skin types. It works beautifully at moisturizing the skin and makes it soft, smooth and healthy. It's a very lovely product and I'm yet again impressed with Lyonsleaf. Get it at Love Lula.

Much love,

Jana xx

Long Time No Empty Products

March 22, 2017

I haven't done an empties post in a long while. I can't be bothered with collecting my empty products and storing them in a corner. I have too much clutter as it is. It just so happened I finished three products at the same time so why not do a quick empties post today. Let's start with a fave.
Josh Rosebrook Cacao Antioxidant Mask** - this beauty is one of my favourite mask. It is just so damn good! I did a review on it with my beautiful friend and fellow green beauty blogger Nic. You can read it here. The mask is very indulging and has a gorgeous list of ingredients. It makes a real difference, it's very brightening and calming which I especially notice the next morning. The mask is also rich in antioxidants and yes, it's just wonderful. I adore it and I will definitely get a new jar of it.

Annmarie Gianni Citrus Stem Cell Serum* - this is an Energizing Facial Serum, suitable for all skin types, including dry or mature skin. The serum is supposed to increase the appearance of firmness and elasticity with its special citrus stem cell complex. This serum brightens the look of dull, lackluster skin. This was a lovely serum to use, it hydrated my skin nicely but I just didn't notice any huge difference when I've used it. Okay maybe it did slightly helped with my hyperpigmentation marks but I had better results with some other products.

Trevarno Rosewater & Camomile Skin Toner* - I've tried Trevarno in the past and I liked their products, especially their Day Cream. This is a light, refreshing facial spray that helps tighten pores & freshen the skin. Contains Rose and Chamomile Flowers Water mixed with Lavender Essenital Oils and Grapefruit Seed Extract. All ingredients are organic. The toner is nice and I feel it does tighten the pores, but at the same time that means it also tightens the skin. So yeah, it does what it says it would but I wouldn't recommend it for dry, even normal skin. I will also say that I didn't really enjoy the scent all that much. I've gotten used to it but if you are really into scents then I would say skip this one. There is also this thing with Grapefruit Seed Extract. I didn't do any research on the ingredient (and I also didn't ask Trevarno about it), but do check out Janny's post to learn more.

Which product have you used up recently?

With love,

Jana xx

Rachel's Plan Bee Cocoa Cream

March 19, 2017

Before spring officially starts (I'm so grateful spring already arrived here in Slovenia - check out my Instagram to see some flower photos), I have to quickly review the absolutely gorgeous Cocoa Cream by the one and only Rachel's Plan Bee. Why quickly, you ask? Well because this product is super nourishing and rich and a perfect product for colder months. Not that that is stopping me from using it, not at all!
You may already know I'm a massive fan of Rachel's blends. I truly adore her body products so much! They are just so moisturizing and effective + they have lovely scents. I have so much love for Rachel, she is so friendly and kind and always up for a chat. Rachel, you the woman!

Cocoa Cream is a deeply moisturizing and a beautiful body cream handmade with less than 10 ingredients. Rachel doesn't complicate with her products, simplicity is key and I like that. If you check the ingredients she uses in her products, you will see that she most definitely has a few favorites. The great thing is that she can create different products with almost the same ingredients, and each one is unique in its own way. Love. Shea Butter, Sunflower Seed and Grapessed Oil are some of those ingredients, Vanilla is also widely used ingredient in her products (at least in her Body Oils and Body Butters - which I love them too!). The Cocoa Cream also contains the wonderfully rich and extra nourishing Cocoa Butter. I loved the mix of organic Shea and Cocoa Butter ever since the beginning of my green beauty journey and this product reminded me of how amazing the combination really is. You know what it is with this product? It makes me smile. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. The cream is a dream for my skin, not only because it's softening and nourishing but also because of the scent. Of the scent! It smells like chocolate, literally smells like chocolate. Mmm it's so good. I find myself sniffing the cream more than once a day and yeah, it really does make me smile. The chocolate-y scent is brought to us by the mix of Coca Butter, Vanilla and Cocoa Absolute.
A very rich, concentrated body cream is only available during the colder months, which is unfortunate but then again you don't really need such deeply moisturizing cream in the summer time. It's like I said for Rachel's Plan Bee Body Butters, there really is no need to apply the Cocoa Cream every day because it is just so darn nourishing. But I do it anyways because I love the scent. Cocoa Cream is yet another gorgeous product from Rachel's Plan Bee and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I got this cream straight from their store but you can also get it from So Natural Beauty, if you live in Europe.

Much love to you all,

Jana xx

Inspired by a Celebrity #4

March 14, 2017

I'm finally posting a new makeup look and this one was inspired by Ruth Negga's makeup look she wore at the Oscars. I was very inspired by the gorgeous berry reds she wore, beautiful. I also have this stunning brownish-red RMS Beauty eye shadow and I thought it would look perfect for this look. After I applied all my makeup, especially the lipstick, I realized the makeup look isn't very spring-like. It's more autumn appropriate but it is what it is, I followed my inspiration and this is what I created.

I mostly used Lily Lolo products but I decided to only mention a few special products that bring the whole look together. Even though I'm wearing a darkish lipstick, to me the IT product of the makeup look is the already mentioned RMS Beuty Swift Shadow in the shade Garden Rose GR-13*. This is such a beautiful eye shadow, one of the best I've tried from natural makeup brands. It has a lovely buildable pigmentation, a soft and buttery texture, and it blends evenly. I always struggle with the longevity of eye shadows but this one is one of the more long lasting ones and it also doesn't crease on me as easily as some other do. For this makeup look I applied it all over the lid and I also applied a bit of the Lily Lolo's Pressed Blush in Tawnylicious*, which I also applied it on my cheeks. As for the lips go I mixed two shades, Just Like Jade* and Revenge* from Nudus (review here). I didn't took a photo of it but I also have to mention the most stunning highlighter and my definite favourite, the Modern Minerals Modern Moonstone Cream Highlighter** (review here). It's amazing.
Yeah, so this is pretty much everything I wanted to write for this post. If you have any questions do let me know. Hope you liked it and have a beautiful day!

With love,

Jana xx

Wabi-Sabi Botanicals BUDHI Sacha Inchi Eye Nectar

March 10, 2017

I'm excited to share with you a gorgeous brand that I was introduced to through the stunning Boxwalla Beauty Box. I'm sure you all know by now what Boxwalla is but if you don't, I suggest you read my post about it. It's hands down one of the best beauty subscription boxes I've tried (along with the Beauty Heroes of course). I love both of them so much and I'm so grateful I'm able to try them out and the featured products. Today's product was a part of the December's Boxwalla Beauty Box Let it Glow! Let it Glow! Let it Glow!. If you follow me on Instagram then you know there were three products in this box, and one I also gave away since I already have it. I'm talking about the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer, a beautiful highlighter that gives a natural glow to the skin. Hopefully the lucky lady who got it loves wearing it. The other product in the box is from a brand I had my eyes on for a long time - Lina Hanson's Global Face Trio. A nice mask, a beautiful highlighter and a lovely eye serum.
BUDHI Sacha Inchi Eye Nectar* is a velvety creation that targets dark circles, inflammation, dullness, puffiness, dryness, discoloration, and visible signs of aging around the eyes. Now that's a whole lot of claims! The main active ingredients are:

- antioxidant-rich Coffee Fruit Oil, made by roasting and cold-pressing Organic Venezuelan coffee beans, resulting in a full-bodied, intensely aromatic and caffeinated oil that infuses the skin with potent antioxidants. This rich brown oil effectively firms and brightens under eye skin, while reducing inflammation and puffiness;

- carotene-packed Seabuckthorn Fruit Supercritical CO2, which possesses remarkable nourishing, revitalizing, and restorative properties as it has the ability to stimulate tissue regeneration, reduce the damaging effects of sun radiation, and effectively combat wrinkles and dryness;

- and high Gamma Linolenic Acis content Evening Primrose blossoms, which soothes and renews fatigued skin, reduces inflammation, diminishes wrinkles and fine lines, and is scientifically proven to reduce symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, and other skin disorders.

These absolutely stunning 100% natural and 93% certified organic ingredients are blended in a base of Peruvian Sacha Inchi Oil, which is scientifically verified to neutralize damaging free radicals, while effectively reducing inflammation and discoloration. I have never tried a product containing this oil and I have to say that my skin agrees with it. It also likes Guava and Prickly Pear Seed Oils (with the highest Vitamin E content of all plant oils), and that's pretty much the whole list of ingredients in this eye serum. Btw, Guava Seed Oil supposedly also has an impressive acne-fighting Linoleic acid content. I love that the ingredients used are either Certified Organic, Wildcrafted or Ethically Grown/Sourced, or non-GMO. They also support Conflict-free, Fair Trade and their products are also 100% free of Palm Oil or Palm Oil derivatives. More about palm oil in the post "Say No to Palm Oil". My heart is bursting with joy seeing ingredient lists like that.

The Eye Nectar has such a gorgeous dark yellow/orange/red colour, courtesy of Seabucktorn fruits and Coffee fruit oil, and a rich and decadent scent of roasted coffee, chocolate-y cacao and sweet vanilla. It goes perfectly with the colour and consistency of the product. Truly a beaut! Not to mention the aromatherapy benefits of both, Cacao and Tonka (vanilla) - both chase away negative thoughts, decrease anxiety, increase clarity, and relax the mind and body. I don't know if it's just me or my whole evening skincare routine but I actually do feel calmer after I use this serum. I say evening because even one drop of this gorgeous yellow-coloured Nectar leaves skin around my eyes yellow. Which I really don't mind. I love that I don't feel the need to apply any other oil or top like I sometimes have to with other eye serums. This one perfectly hydrates the skin, leaving it soft and supple. With a constant use I find that my skin really is less dry and dull, and more nourished, but I can't say it helped with my under eye circles. I will continue to use it and if I do see a difference I will let you know. I haven't found a product that would work with dark under eyes and I don't even expect that from a product. I will say that the skin does look a bit brighter and that is also something worth mentioning. Oh and Budhi is actually a Buddhist term meaning ‘awaken’, so the name is pretty appropriate.

This eye serum is also vegan and cruelty free. You can get it straight from the Wabi-Sabi Botanicals or through an European stockist, the beautiful Divine Green Beauty shop.

With love,

Jana xx

Lani Tropical Cacao Detox Mask

March 03, 2017

The other day I was masking with the Lani Tropical Cacao Detox Mask* and I remembered I haven't properly reviewed it yet. I did mention it already in this post but since it's such a lovely mask, I wanted to dedicate a whole post to it. Lani is a UK based company that specialises in tropical, natural, vegan & cruelty-free skin and hair care. They hand-make their products in small batches every week to maximize freshness, use high quality and food grade ingredients, and stay clear of using artificial preservatives, fragrances or chemicals.
100% tropical, 100% natural, 100% vegan Lani Tropical Cacao Detox Mask will transform your complexion in just 20 minutes. Since this is quite a bold statement let's see what kind of ingredients are in this mask for it to work so fast. First two ingredients are clays, and clays work great at detoxifying and purifying the skin. There is Kaolin (Pastel Pink Australian Clay) and Smectite (Beige Australian Clay). They deeply clean the pores, absorb excess oil and draw out toxins. The mask is rich in antioxidants due to the beautiful and yummy raw CacaoCacao nourishes the skin, aids in regeneration of new skin cells and is a true anti-ageing miracle. It increases the production of collagen, blood flow and lightens blemishes and acne scars. The mask actually has a wonderful scent of sweet cacao, I  love it. It also contains creamy Coconut Milk which improves skin elasticity and suppleness, and its nutrients help to slow down the ageing process of your skin by maintaining flexibility and elasticity of the skin and blood vessels, and hydrating Coconut Water, full of electrolytes and natural sugars coconut water adds a luminous glow and radiance to tired complexions. Coconut water is anti-viral, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal and helps to heal inflammations and scarring of the skin. Not to mention the powerful anti-inflammatory properties of Aloe Vera, healing Turmeric and Vitamin C that tone and brighten the skin.
This mask comes in a powder form. Looks like cacao, smells like cacao and feels good like cacao. I forget to mention one other ingredient. The ingredient I'm allergic to in some natural deodorant but it doesn't faze me here. I'm talking about baking soda. Soda makes this mask a very special one. In contact with water this mask transforms from powder to a delicious fluffy mousse. Yes, mousse. It's so fluffy!! Love. My favourite way of using this mask is with a few drops of water and some Eucalyptus Honey. Sometimes I also mix in some other powder ingredients and masks, like turmeric and Odacite's Synergie Mask. The mask detoxifies my skin, helps to calm blemishes, revitalizes tired complexion. Supposedly it also increases the production of collagen and improves skin elasticity. It's a very lovely and yummy mask. It's also not that expensive (especially if you compare it with some other cacao-based facial masks) and Lani also regularly donates a percentage of their profits to animal charities such as Sea Shepherd and Rescued Farm Animal Sanctuaries.
To sum up what you get with this mask - nice scent, fluffy texture, antioxidants and detoxifying benefits. Love. You can get it here. It's currently on sale at The Green Jungle Beauty Shop, where you can also use my code "Jana" for 10% off your order.

 Much love to you all,

Jana xx

Your Happy Period + Giveaway

March 01, 2017

I have a special post for all you ladies out there. Let's talk periods. I've already briefly shared my love for menstrual cups in this post. After the post and talking with some ladies, I got myself a new cup, the Fleurcup, and I'm even more in love with the whole concept. No waste, super comfortable and way cheaper that buying tampons or pads every month. I only have positive things to say about it! If you have any questions feel free to ask me. But before I dived into menstrual cups I was using tampons. More specifically, 100% organic cotton tampons. I do believe that menstrual cups are the way to go, but 100% organic cotton tampons are close second (and reusable cloth pads). If you are using tampons or pads I highly urge you to look into the organic cotton options, free from synthetic materials like rayon (highly absorbent, restricting air flow and trapping heat and dampness, which can promote yeast and bacteria growth) and chemicals. There is a whole lot of nasties in conventional feminine products, like dioxine, a by-product from the bleaching using chlorine, phthalates, plasticising chemicals like BPA, regular cotton crops are also heavily sprayed with pesticides and fertilisers. Amm yuck?!! Even if you don't have any problems using conventional tampons or pads, I'd still highly recommend using organic cotton products. You can easily found them in health stores and even in some drugstores. Not only are they better for you, they are also better for the environment because they are biodegradable. Just think of all the plastic pads and tampons out there. And baby diapers, but that's a concern for another blog post. To make a transition from regular to organic cotton tampons even smoother, I have a wonderful giveaway for you ladies, featuring a new-to-me company Your Happy Period
Your Happy Period is a subscription box* with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton tampons, produced and packed in Europe. The box is delivered to your mailbox every month in time for your period. You choose your selection of 18 tampons in sizes Mini, Regular and Super. You can mix them however you like. You’ll also receive a BPA-free tampon case made out of recycled plastic. Sounds pretty perfect doesn't it? Well the Your Happy Period is even more perfect and inspiring than you can imagine. For every month you use this subscription box, a girl in need will be provided with a month’s supply of sanitary protection through their partnership with GlobalGiving. Yas! The reason why they donate sanitary protection is because over 100 million girls worldwide can’t manage their periods due to lack of sanitary protection. It leads to missed school classes and drop-outs. If a girl could finish school (gender equality for the win!), her chance of getting a job would increase and with that also the opportunity to support themselves and their family. They will also be safer and child marriages and births will decrease. They will also get confidence to do what ever they want!

The donated money is not only used to supply girls with sanitary protection but in some projects also health education. Instead of tampons, they donate pads, which is the most common type of sanitary protection that girls and women use in large parts of the world. That is because of both religious and health reasons.
Based on all this, don't you think it's worth to support this company? You know what they say - by becoming a Yoppie (a member of Your Happy Period) you will empower women and fight for gender equality. Oh yeah! I always love to support brands that give back and this one certainly does, so why not introduce a few of you to the brand as well?
So a giveaway it is!

There will be 3 winners and each will receive 2 boxes with tampons of their own choosing + a tampon case. For each box, Your Happy Period will also make a donation that will go to the girls in need. <3 The giveaway will run on my Instagram account so make sure to visit me there so you can enter.

The rules are:

1. Follow @yourhappyperiod and @smallbitsofloveliness on Instagram.
2. Like the photo I will post of the giveaway.
3. Tag two friends.

Your Happy Period currently only ships within Europe, so you can only enter if you live in Europe. This giveaway will be open for one week, till the 8th of March.

Wishing you the best of luck!

With love,

Jana xx
