Holiday Essentials

June 24, 2016

Hello beauties! How have you all been doing? I was away on holidays, which you already know if you follow me on Instagram. Me and my boyfriend went to Corfu, Greece and we had a great time. The island is so beautiful and green, the water is really clear and I have never eaten such juicy and delicious oranges. I rather won't show you how my desk in our room looked like (filled with all green beauty products and some other random bits), but I will show you some of my holiday essentials. Most of them are actually my everyday essentials so you can easily treat this post as my current favourite products post.

Earthwise Beauty Farizad's Veil SPF 30+ Powder* - one of the newest additions to the brand is this amazing SPF powder. Yes, it's in a powder form and is definitely not messy or unpractical like you might think. I've already raved about Earthwise Beauty here, let me just remind you it is a wonderful, wonderful brand indeed. Farizad's Veil is simple yet effective. It contains non-nano and uncoated zinc oxide, which is the healthiest, safest and most reliable sunscreen ingredient. Besides the UV protection it's also anti-inflammatory and anti-acne. Yes, please! It also contains powdered Aloe leaves and some flowers (Rose Absolute, Geranium and Frankincense Oil, to name almost all). But let's leave all that information for a whole post and review. Farizad's Veil has a lovely floral scents, it's light and breathable, non clogging and just a wonderful sun protector. Oh and I almost forgot. The way you use this product is to just mix it in the palm of your hand with a bit of a facial oil of your choice. I've been using Magical Babassu Facial Oil*, also from Earthwise Beauty. Together they work like a charm. It's a great product and it actually replaced my well loved Kimberly Sayer sunscreen (review here). I also have a discount code for you, if you would like to try it. Use "Loveliness" and get 15% off your order.
Luminance Skincare Facial Toner Rosewater* - a refreshing toner is always a must in the summer, might that be at the beach or in the city. Summer or winter, I always love a good toner in a spray bottle. Here we have a 100% Pure Cold Filtered Bulgarian Rosewater. Organic, vegan, no toxins, no synthetics. Yas. Smells beautiful, like roses do and has a great spray dispenser. Yes, it is a beautiful toner. I also want to mention a toner I just used all up before going on holidays, for which I thought it would keep me company on holidays. It's from an Australian brand Mukti, the Neroli Blossom Balancing Toner* for combination and oily skin. It had the best spray dispenser which gave a very fine mist and I thoroughly enjoyed using it. Smells like citrus and contains some gorgeous certified organic ingredients like Lavender, Aloe Vera Juice, Witch Hazel and more. There are also Kakadu Plum, Finger Lime Caviar, Aniseed Myrtle, ingredients I have never heard of before. It's gorgeous on the inside and outside. Mukti Organics is now also available in Europe, in a beautiful German store Savue Beauty. Love both toners. <3

Leahlani Skincare Pua Lei Organic Coco Infusion* - Keri said it well, this product is "vacation in a bottle" and I couldn't agree more! With a blend of pure unrefined Coconut, organic Macadamia, Kukui Nut and Sea Buckthorn Oils you can be certain the product is very moisturizing and makes my skin super smooth and soft. But the scent, oh my the scent! It is out of this world. Smells heavenly, deliciously floral and sweet, with notes of sweet tuberose and exotic puakenini flowers. I love using it in my hair and on my neck, decoletage and arms. Love. In Europe available at Reina Organics.<3

BioSolis Sun Milk SPF 30 - Ecocert certified sunscreen with mineral protection - contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Free from nano particles and coral reef safe. Yas!! For those of you who don't know - chemicals in sunscreens, like oxybenzone, is not only toxic for you but also for coral reefs. Ingredients like that contribute to the destruction of corals and they also exacerbate coral bleaching. We all have a choice as consumers and we have to be mindful of not only keeping our bodies safe but we also have to think about other living beings on our planet and how our choice affect them. Therefore I highly encourage you to use mineral based sunscreens, like the two I mentioned here in this post. Yeah sure you usually have to massage these sunscreens into your skin for a bit longer to avoid the white cast but who cares when you can at least know that you are doing something good for you and the Earth. I bought this cream in Sanolabor but you can also find it on Ecco Verde. It's not as heavy and thick as Badger or Eco Cosmetics sunscreens are, if you tried any of these. It's absorbed into the skin quite quickly and doesn't leave a white cast. It's actually quite easy to spread around, especially if you don't go overboard with it.

Hurraw! Sun Protection Balm SPF 15 - Hurraw has such a lovely selection of vegan lip balms and this one is the perfect choice for summer beach days. Now don't get me wrong, sun is amazing and we all need a good amount of vitamin D but sun protection is crucial for those long exposure times. This lip balm has the best scent of Tangerine, Vanilla and Chamomile. I say it's the best scent because it reminds me of relaxing days at the beach, where I always use it. It contains nourishing and moisturizing ingredients like Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter, to name a few. Last but certainly not least let me mention the active ingredient - non nano uncoated zinc oxide. Natural, broad spectrum (UVA and UVB protection) mineral sunscreen. Lip balm can give your lips a white tint if you apply it too generously, but if you only apply a swipe or two then you'll be perfectly alright.

Lily Lolo Miami Beach Bronzer - I was never a massive bronzer person but then this product came to my life. Oh my goodness, this bronzer has been one of my favourite products of the last few months. First of all it's from Lily Lolo and you all know by now that I love the brand, second of all it's a pressed mineral based bronzer and third, it has a beautiful warm colour which is perfect for my light skin tone. It gives my complexion a beautiful sun kissed look without looking like an umpa lumpa. I apply it the way every tutorial "orders" you to do - to the areas of my face the sun would naturally hit. I apply it in a '3' shape on either side of my face (forehead, top of cheekbones and along the jawline). I also apply it on my chin and down my neck and across the bridge of my nose. Then I just swipe the brush all over my face to blend it all together. Voila.

Modern Minerals Modern Moonstone** - best highlighter ever. Period. I already praised it in my previous post. It's infused with Lotus Wei flower essences, it's ultra silky and smooth and gives an amazing glow. I have so much love for it and I can't stop wearing it. It's creamy and easy to apply, it lasts all day and it's just wonderful. Love.

How are you spending your summer? Have any special plans?

Much love,

Jana xx

Modern Minerals x Lotus Wei Emotive Makeup Collection

June 06, 2016

Would you take a good look at the beautiful Beauty Heroes June's box*? I've been really loving this months selection, it is so pretty! Beauty Heroes has brought us The Emotive Makeup Collection by Modern Minerals, featuring four full sized products worth $96 (which you can get for $39 + shipping cost = Ah-mazing!). June's Beauty Heroes box with a theme Beauty Is As Beauty Feels, is their very first all makeup box and I have to say they have chosen a great brand and lovely products. Like I said, in the box are products from Modern Minerals, but not just any MM products. Three out of four are infused with Lotus Wei flower essences and a touch of rose to awaken positivity and minimize the effects of negative emotions. Yas! Gosh, green beauty products are so amazeballs I can't even handle!<3
Modern Minerals is a brand founded by Diane Read and when she met flower alchemist Katie Hess, founder of Lotus Wei, they together set out to take beauty to a deeper level. With a mutual understanding beauty is interconnected and that our emotions are reflected in our physical features, they created a ground-breaking collection of emotive makeup that evokes a celebration of whole beauty. This month’s theme, Beauty Is As Beauty Feels, is directly inspired by the inner alchemy of the emotions that reflects in our outer beauty.

I will be completely honest and say that when I opened the box I was like hmmm, lip glosses. Like many I'm also more into lipsticks and don't even wear lip glosses. But after a few wears I can easily say that these Modern Minerals lip glosses are really nice. They are very easy to wear, moisturizing, they don't dry out my lips and are not sticky. Well the hair can stick to my lips when the wind blows but when you press your lips together there's none of that yucky sticky feeling that has always annoy me and stop me from wearing lip glosses. My lips are soft and smooth, looking very lovely and juicy.
Citrine Invigorating Lip Gloss is inspired by the beautiful peach, orange Citrine gemstone, a gemstone that I've been wearing for a couple of months and it's safe to say that I've been really loving it. This peachy, nude gloss with a golden shimmer glow has just the right amount of shimmers that don't make you look all glittery and leave glitter all over your face. It gives my lips a beautiful glowy finish, a beautiful shine. It contains Menthol which gives it that tingly and plumping feel and it also tastes sweet, which is always nice in a lip product. Lip gloss Citrine is the only product from the box which is not infused with Lotus Wei flowers essences and I would have to say it's my least favourite product of the bunch. But keep in mind it has a tough competition.

Padparadscha Lotus Wei infused Lip Gloss is a coral red with gold shimmer. Like Citrine, the shimmer is not all over the place and even though I prefer semi-matte finish of my lipsticks, I have to say I don't really mind the shimmer. If you look closely it's noticeable on the lips but the colour itself is just too pretty to even care for some of those shiny golden particles. How could you not love it if its description goes something like this - pink camellia flowers + pink tourmaline are combined with a light floral fragrance naturally composed of lavender, chamomile, rose and neroli. Oh wow. I also have to mention the name of it - Padparadscha is the name given to the color of a rare, pink and orange sapphire, and is the stone in Jeannie's (Beauty Heroes founder) engagement ring. The word padparadscha translates to ‘the color of a lotus flower at sunset’. How fitting for the beautiful infusion of Lotus Wei camellia flower essence into Modern Minerals makeup. So yes, that's why this lip gloss is now known as Padparadscha. How sweet is that?!
Rose Quartz Eye Shadow is a delicate shimmery blend of warm pink and peach hues. The shade is so gorgeous and I think it's a very flattering and universal shade. Everyone can wear it, I think. Rose Quartz packs a real punch with its glitter particles and it looks especially beautiful as an inner corner highlighter. On the picture I'm wearing it all over the lid and oh my does it look pretty. It adds a little something to the eye, a little sparkle and I'm all about that. One thing I have to say is that this eye shadow creases on me. Unfortunately that isn't anything new, so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt. Another thing. As this eye shadow comes in a loose powder form I would love if it would have a lock sifter so it would stop the powder from falling out.

Modern Moonstone Cream Highlighter is an absolutely stunning golden, warm highlighter with ultra-silky texture. It is my definite favourite of the bunch, it is just so perfect and wonderful. I don't even know how to explain it but it's making me all sorts of fuzzy and warm inside and I can't get enough of it. I love applying it on the tops of my cheeks and on the top of the brow bone. It makes my feature pop and oh my god you need it in your life! So flattering and perfect for summer. Moonstone has been exclusively launched to Beauty Heroes members and I'm so happy it was. It's just so stunning, you feel me?
As beautiful and unique this box is, it is bound to be sell through as it was the May Beauty Heroes box.vSo be sure to hop on board as soon as you can. Join Beauty Heroes and get your June's Box here. I love it and I'm sure you will too.

Have a great week!

Much love,

Jana xx
