Earthwise Beauty Ambrosia del Cerrado Liquid Moisturizer

March 29, 2016

A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to receive a beautiful parcel from the American brand Earthwise Beauty. This hard-core organic skincare line was created by the lovely Ava, who btw has the cutest little boys <3 (where is the heart eyes emoji when you need it?). Ava is a sweetheart and a joy to work with. I love her passion and I always learn something new when reading her Instagram captions and product descriptions. You can learn more about her and the brand on their website and you can also check out Ava's interview that Brigid posted a while back.

Ava's products are made from unrefined, unprocessed fair-trade ingredients: unrefined botanical oils and butters, traditionally prepared herbs, and therapeutic-grade essential oils and absolutes. Earthwise Beauty products are "painstakingly handcrafted in small batches to imbue them in that lovingly-handcrafted energy". Ava uses very interesting ingredients and many of them I haven't heard of before, let alone use. I had the absolute pleasure to try some of her products and my first impressions of them were awesome. Ever since the parcel arrived I've been religiously using the mysterious Ambrosia del Cerrado Liquid Moisturizer*. Vegan, cruelty free, organic, cold process, no fillers, no water, handcrafted. Just the good stuff.
This vibrant yellow product is a very interesting cross between a hydrating toner and a moisturizer. Like the name says, it has a liquid, runny and light consistency. And by light, it doesn't mean "effective just a little bit": this moisturizer is highly effective in what it is designed to do; you will be amazed how much and how quickly your skin can absorb in each single application. Which is so very true! Ambrosia del Cerrado is packed with fair-traded, unrefiend, whole-food nutrients from the superfood Buriti, Pequi and Moringa Oils. What are these oils, you say?

Hand-extracted Pequi Fruit Oil from the Cerrado savanna in Brazil is a unique extract-like oil that is rich in vitamin C, betacarotene (which the body converts to vitamin A), and vitamins B1 and B2, all promoting firm, supple, even-toned skin. Buriti Oil, also from Brazil, is highly praised for anti-aging results and for improving the appearance of brown spots and scars. Moringa Pod Oil addition further aids moisturization and delivers an incredible range of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients (too many to list all of them here, but for starters, it contains betacarotenes, several B vitamins, selenium, and zinc). Even though it contains these amazing oils, the product itself is not oily, not even remotely. That is because it also contains whole-leaf cold-press aloe vera juice. There are no fragrances added to this formula, not even essential oils, to allow the unique fruitiness of the pequi fruit to come through. Moringa oil provides a complimentary green note. I don't know how to describe the scent, it is said to have a guava-plus-citrus scent.

If you just look at the name of the product, you think it's a moisturizer. But like I said, it's a mix between a toner and moisturizer. When I first used it I immediately knew what they mean with that. Due to its extra light consistency I've been using it in place of a toner. After I cleanse my face and pat it dry, I apply a few drops of the product. It very quickly sinks into the skin and provides serious hydration. I've always enjoyed toners but I never felt like this about a toner. This one is just so different and surprisingly, it really gives much hydration. I can't even compare it with your standard toner because it's so much more. It's more like a serum. I love it, is that clear?? It's yellow like the sun (which brings me so much joy!), it's packaged in a glass bottle with a unique design on it and it just really works. Oh and it also doesn't break me out. Suitable for all skin types.
Before I end this rave review let me just quickly mention another thing Earthwise Beauty is passionate about. They are looking into putting a spotlight on areas of the world that are overlooked or insufficiently known about by the Western world and in need of our attention to protect the natural environment and biodiversity. They want to support the indigenous populations of these regions by choosing fair trade ingredients extracted sustainably by small cooperatives using their traditional tools of choice, just to name one thing. Therefore the Liquid Moisturizer has a Portuguese name to draw attention to the Cerrado area in Brazil, as this beautiful savanna is considered the biologically richest savanna in the world by the World Wide Fund of Nature.

You can get your own Ambrosia del Ceraddo Liquid Moisturizer here. I'm sure you will love it.

Have a great week.

Much love,

Jana xx

blue labelle replenishing hand oil

March 21, 2016

Hi lovelies! How you've all been doing? I've been quite busy lately so sorry for my lack of posts. Hope I'll soon be back on track but in the meantime I hope you'll bear with me. So, for today's post I'm going to show you a hand care product I've been really liking, the Blue Labelle Replenishing Hand Oil*. This product replaced their Hand Oil with Rosemary, which I've mentioned before in the post where I've talked about my bedtime routine. You can check it out here.
The new and improved version contains 100% certified organic ingredients. Amazing. This hand oil is a blend of beautiful oils such as Camellia (rejuvenates skin), Jojoba (highly penetrative and skin softening), Sweet Almond (promotes healing of chapped skin) and Safflower Oil (fast absorbing and rich in omega 6). These are the base of the product, but there are also some oils that have been extracted with CO2 technology. This extraction process produces extremely pure plant extracts, that are also called supercritial CO2 extracts. One of those is for example Pai's Rosehip Oil, which is btw one of the best facial oils out there. At least in my opinion. The hand oil has Amaranth, Sea Buckthorn and Rosemary CO2 extracts. All ingredients in the hand oil are certified organic and registered by The Vegan Society.
It has quite a nice scent of Rosemary, Geranium and Lavender. It's said that this blend deeply penetrates skin to leave it rejuvenated & fortified. Formulated to absorb with no residue, standing it apart from hand creams which can leave a greasy feel after applying. Okay, first of all, this is an oil so you have to expect a bit of an oily residue. But this oil doesn't have a heavy and thick consistency, not at all. It's very lightweight and it quickly sinks into the skin. Which isn't always the case with oils. Immediately after application it does leave a bit of a residue on my skin. I would say it leaves a silky touch to the skin. You feel it's there but it doesn't feel greasy. It just leaves my skin smooth and quite soft. I can easily use it through the day but usually I only apply one drop on the tops of my hands and leave my fingertips free of oil so I don't mess up my keyboard. But in the evenings I just slather it on and don't worry about a thing.

If your hands are extremely dry, like hard core dry, then maybe this oil wouldn't be enough, but on dry to normal skin it works beautifully.

Have a lovely week everyone!

With love,

Jana xx

keeko. lucky dip

March 14, 2016

Swish now. Slay later. A smile so fine - even the mirror will be jealous; that's the Keeko way.

Have you heard of oil pulling? Have you read my blog post about it? For those of you who haven't, oil pulling is a practice where you take a spoon of oil (coconut or sesame for example) and swish it in your mouth for about 20 minutes. Then you spit it out and brush your teeth normally. This technique is something magical for your teeth, oral health, for your overall body health. It's detoxifying but it also whitens the teeth. For real. You can read all about my experience with oil pulling here. I love it even more than I did when writing the post. But in the last few months I was slacking on the whole thing. That was until Australian brand keeko. reached out to me. They are making the whole oil pulling thing nicer and extra refreshing. How do they do it, you say? Well then just keep on reading.
Keeko. is devoted to Ayurvedic cold pressed coconut oil-pulling practice and it made the experience of it easier and in my opinion also better. Before I start talking like you know how this product looks, let me first describe it. On their website there are a few options to choose from. I went for the so called Lucky Dip*. Naturally, because I wanted to try all three flavours they have. Yes, flavours. Based on coconut oil, each flavour has a blend of essential oils. Each flavour comes in a cute little sachet and in the Lucky Dip you get 14 sachets. They are really handy, super easy to use and yes, they taste nice. Nicer than just you standard coconut oil.

All three flavour have the same base of ingredients - Cold Pressed Coconut Oil and essential oils of Chamomile, Myrrh and Lemon. My favourite of the three is definitely Morning Mint, the blue one. Besides the already mentioned ingredients it also contains Spearmint and Peppermint Oil. Like you would imagine, it is super refreshing and perfect for mornings. Closed second fave is the orange flavour, the Citrus Burst with Lemon Lime and Grapefruit natural flavours. As for the lilac goes, the Sweet Sensation with Vanilla and Cinnamon natural flavours, I have to be honest and say that I wasn't the biggest fan in the beginning. It's sweeter and tastes like cookies. It's safe to say I wouldn't buy the whole "box" of this flavour but funnily enough I got used to it and I quite enjoyed it the more I've used it.
I usually use half a sachet per use. It's easy. Rip off one sachet and simply squish (or pour) the coconut oil into your mouth. In my research into oil pulling a couple of years ago, I've read many times that you can use a tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it in your mouth for 20 minutes, but for me that's just too much. I always go for one teaspoon and half a sachet is more or less that same amount. Like I said, I swish it around for 20 minutes, even though it says on the packaging that you can do it for 5 to 20 minutes. I alaways go for later because my teeth feel cleaner if I do it longer. After that I spit in the bin (not in the sink, because you don't want to clog the drains!) and brush my teeth like I normally do, with a bamboo brush and Auromere toothpaste. Also, the best way to do this is in the morning before eating but I don't usually have the time to do it so I just do it in the evenings.

Now should we talk about the whitening effect? It's strange and I don't know the scientific basis behind it (and I can't be bothered to understand it) but the oil pulling really, really works with that! At first I couldn't believe it but it is magic. I'm very sorry but I don't have any pictures of my teeth before and after. I completely forgot to take them or I remembered when the lightning was bad, and that was also that one time when I was too lazy to take them. You will have to trust me, okay? My friend has been doing oil pulling for a good while now, for a few months, and her teeth are whiter than ever. So yeah, it works. My teeth still need a little bit more oil pulling to be all white and pearly looking, but the difference is most definitely there.
I highly recommend this product. Lucky Dip is the perfect choice if you would like to try all three flavours, but the one I enjoyed the most is the Morning Mint Flavour. I don't think you can go wrong with that. The packaging is also cute and easy to use. Honestly, I wouldn't say you need to use these all the time, but if you would like to start oil pulling or you would like a bit of change in the routine, then I'd say give it a go. I think you won't be disappointed. You can get it here.

Are you a fan of oil pulling?

Have a great week!

With love,

Jana xx

inspired by a celebrity #3

March 07, 2016

I was watching the Oscars last week, as you do. It was alright and just something to watch. But then it came Olivia Munn to the stage and I was like yaaas! Her makeup was on point and she looked stunning! She looks lovely on the pictures but honestly, they don't do her justice, because on camera she was pretty much one of my favourite one. I don't own such vibrant and bright orange lipstick as she wore, but as you know these post are only my interpretation of a makeup look, so I really don't care. But I did choose two lipstick options, one being much more wearable than the other one.
The first option is the Red Apple Lipstick Sunkissed lipsticks.
And the other, more wearable, is the gorgeous Fairy Tales from Nudus.
What do you think about this Olivia's makeup look? Are you a fan of orange lipsticks and blushes? :)

Have a wonderful week!

Much love,

Jana xx

w3ll people narcissist foundation stick

March 04, 2016

Hey lovelies! How are you all on this Friday? I'm having a hard time formulating this intro, so why not just dive right into the review. First tell me something, do you have any experiences with an American brand W3LL PEOPLE? Based on my experience it is a brand that I definitely suggest you look into it. W3LL PEOPLE is a makeup brand with a mission to create super premium quality cosmetics without using the potentially harmful artificial chemicals found in most conventional makeup. Their approach to beauty is built on simplicity, authenticity and performance. State-of-the-art, all-natural formulas effortlessly deliver flawless coverage and soothing protection that's unbelievably light. They said that you'll find their delightfully stylish products unmatched in delivering a natural "no-makeup" look. That is what I like to hear - natural yet effective makeup products. Yas!
I've heard so many great things about the products and I've been really intrigued by them, so you can only imagine how excited I was when the lovely Rayna from Reina Organics asked me if I would like to try their Narcissist Foundation Stick*. Well yes please! But if you've ever ordered foundation online, then you know it can be a pain in the bum to pick the right shade match. We agreed on the second lightest shade, the 01 called Fair Pink. It's not the perfect shade because it is a tad too pink for my skin tone but it is a great match and I can easily make it work. If I'd want a perfect perfect match, then I'd have to mix the 01 and 02. But I can't be bothered with that. The foundation, and all of their products, are 100% natural with an emphasis on organic ingredients. At W3LL PEOPLE are proud that their makeup contains an advanced botanical complex of organic aloe, organic chamomile and organic green tea, which have nourishing and protecting benefits to the skin.
The foundation has a gorgeous creamy consistency which gives a satin finish to the skin. It makes it radiant, fresh and healthy looking. It seamlessly and beautifully melts into my skin, it's not sticky, oily or greasy, just lovely. At the beginning of the application it can feel a little heavy because it's a cream formulation, but after you blend it in, that feeling immediately disappears and it doesnt't really feel like you're wearing a foundation. It has light to medium coverage and it is buildable without looking like you're wearing a ton of foundation. A great thing with its creamy consistency is that can be also used as a concealer. If I have an angry spot to cover up, I also use another concealer but if not, it's perfectly alright to use just the foundation. But I always like to use something else under my eyes. It's quite long lasting, but I always add a little bit of powder on top just to make it last that more longer.

Here is my bare face.
You should apply this foundation with fingertip or brush and not directly to face, but the later is so convenient and quick. I know, I know, it's not hygienic but it is what it is. So, I applied it straight from the bullet and blend with Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. Sometimes I also tap it in with fingers.
Here is one coat...
...and here are two thin coats of foundation. It doesn't look like a massive difference on these photos but in real life you can see a difference. If you apply two layers, it also lasts longer.
Here is another shot. Before and after.
All that is left to say is that I love this foundation. It has a nice buildable coverage, it gives my skin a healthy finish and it's just so nice to wear. It doesn't break me out, it's not greasy and it doesn't contain nasties like Silicones, Phtalates, Mineral Oil and the list goes on. Based on it I would definitely like to try more W3LL PEOPLE products. Love. American ladies are super lucky because the brand is at Target's but we, European ladies, are lucky as well because it's available at the beautiful Reina Organics, the Eco Chic Beauty Paradise (which means no customs fees!).

Much love,

Jana xx

mysalifree eye cream

March 02, 2016

Today is going to be another article in Slovenian, but do scroll down to the bottom of it to see the English translation. :)

Kožo intenzivno vlaži in jo pomirja. Krema vsebuje ekološko olje riževih otrobov, ekološko svetlinovo olje in ekološki izvleček semen borage.
Uporabljam jo skoraj dva meseca, dvakrat dnevno - zjutraj in zvečer. Kožo nežno navlaži in nahrani.

Translation
Remember when I wrote my review of the Mysalifree Body Lotion? Well today is time for another Mysalifree review, their Eye Cream*. Like I've mentioned, the brand is especially created for people with sensitive, irritated skin, skin prone to allergies. Their products don't contain ingredients I like to avoid, such as parabens, silicones, paraffins and more. They also don't contain essential oils. Gorgeous qualities for an eye cream especially because of the thin and gentle skin around the eyes.

This eye cream is said to be intensely hydrating and calming, and rich with organic oils, vitamins and antioxidants. The cream contains Organic Rice Bran Oil, Organic Evening Primrose Oil and Organic Borage Extract. These ingredients are soothing and calming and they contain omega-3 and 6 essential fatty acids that nourish the skin. This cream also contains Pomegranate, which is rich in antioxidants, Shea and Mango Butters and Coffee, which helps to boost the microcirculation and reduces puffiness.

Mysalifree Eye Cream has a very light consistency, even more than their body lotion. It quickly sinks into the skin and doesn't leave any greasy or oily residue. Therefore it's a great option as a makeup base. I've been using this cream for almost two months, in the mornings and evenings. It has been keeping my skin moisturized and gently nourished. I can't say if it would be enough for very dry skin because mine is quite normal. But based on the light texture, it gives a better punch of hydration that it would seem at first glance. I wouldn't say it's magical and that I noticed a massive difference using it, but it is a very lovely eye cream that keeps my skin hydrated all day. I like it.

With love,

Jana xx
