Kahina Giving Beauty is a brand I’ve already talked about on this blog. I’ve shared a little bit of the story behind the brand and its philosophy here. It’s an interesting read, so you should definitely check their website to learn even more. Just to sum it up, Kahina Giving Beauty (Kahina is the name for a Berber queen and prophetess who reigned in Morocco circa 700 CE) sources rare, essential ingredients from women’s cooperatives around the world and a percentage of all profits are donated to support the women working there. The brand is certified organic by Ecocert, fair trade, mindful when it comes to sustainability and environmental friendly – their outer packaging is created from 100% post-consumer waste and their bottles are made from high quality recyclable violet glass, which acts as a powerful preservative by blocking out damaging light rays. But like I said, more here.
My first experience with the brand was with their Serum, which is lovely but today’s review is reserved for the Facial Cleanser*. It is said that it removes impurities while gently exfoliating, toning and brightening skin. I really agree with this description and let me just say it here already, I love using this cleanser. It has a wonderful milky consistency that I always use straight from the bottle, no water needed. It doesn’t foam but that is to be expected with cleansing milks. I like to take time with this one. Even though it removes the majority of eye makeup, I normally use it after removing my makeup with an oil based cleanser and warm cloth. Five or six pumps is what you need. I rub my hands together to spread the product and then apply onto my face. I love massaging it with circular movements for around thirty seconds, I’d say. Then I simply wash it off with lukewarm water and dry with clean towel.
Ingredients like Papaya Fruit Extract and Willow Bark Extract gently
exfoliate the skin, while certified Organic Argan Oil and Sunflower Seed
Oil help to cleanse the skin without drying or stripping the skin of
its natural oils. This Aloe Vera based facial cleanser has a mild scent
which I think goes perfectly with the consistency and feel of the
product. Mild and gentle scent for a gentle, non irritating nor drying
cleanser. Scented with bright, sweet and flowery notes of Neroli. Two
ingredients to also mention is Chamomile and we all know how calming and
wonderful it is, and Blue Tansy Flower Oil, which is very popular at
the moment and is actually genetically very similar to Chamomile. At its
core, Blue Tansy is very poisonous, but when rendered right, it’s got
great medicinal range – it’s anti-inflammatory and soothing, to say the
least.
So far as my experience goes, I highly recommend Kahina Giving Beauty Facial Cleanser. It does what it says. It gently cleanses, exfoliates and brightens my skin. I use it in the mornings and evenings and I’m impressed. Not to mention the whole look with its luxurious and divinely gorgeous packaging. Violet glass bottles are amazing and the package design is actually based on signatures of the Berber women, which Katherine (the founder) collected during visits to a cooperative. Love it.
Facial Cleanser comes in a huge, 200 ml bottle with a pump and is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. You can get it at Corpo Natura.
Have you tried this cleanser? What is your favourite cleanser at the moment? 🙂
With love,
Jana xx
