No Fuss, At Home Pedicure

June 03, 2015

Kakšen je vaš junij zaenkrat? Ste že v balerinkah in sandalih?
Zmešajte žličko morske soli, žličko bentonit gline in posušene sivke, vrzite v toplo vodo in namočite svoje nogice.

S.W. Basics Body Scrub
Piling s tremi ekološko pridelanimi sestavinami, sladkorjem, ekstra deviškim kokosovim oljem in drobci kokosa.

Gaia Creams Optimistic Body and Soul Balm
Bogato razkošna krema oziroma maslo za telo iz ekološko pridelanih sestavin, kot so karitejevo in kakavovo maslo in različna rastlinska olja. Vegan.

Translation
Is June treating you well? Are you already in your sandals? Then maybe you'll like this post, a quick and easy at home pedicure. I actually already wrote a post about my pedicure essentials here, but I think it's time to share some new products.

DIY Foot Bath
Mix a teaspoon of sea salt, teaspoon of bentonite clay and some dried lavender. Toss into warm water and soak up those feet. Salt bath is one of the oldest baths out there. It helps to pull toxins out of the body and some have even reported having more energy at the start of the day and feeling better throughout the day, especially when having a whole body salt baths. Bentonite clay is a great detoxifying ingredient. It takes care of those heavy metals that can build up in your body through dental work and eating foods that have been treated with certain chemicals. Lavender is in this bath mostly because of its wonderful calming and soothing properties. So, after soaking your feet for about 15-20 minutes, your skin will become nice and soft and then you have two option. You can use a foot file or go straight to a scrub, like I usually do.

S.W. Basics Body Scrub
Scrub with only three organic ingredients, sugar, extra-virgin coconut oil and shredded coconut. The scrub works good, it removes dry and dead skin cells and leaves my skin soft, but it's not my favourite scrub I've used. The scent is yummy though, smells like coconut cookies. The thing that bothers me are sugar crystals, they are just too big and often times there's more left in the bath that on me. The coconut oil also doesn't agree with me in this scrub, but only because it's solid and therefore it's harder to get the scrub out of the jar. I need to put a spoon in my bathroom to make things easier. I do like the scrub, but honestly, my homemade scrub works better for me.

Gaia Creams Optimistic Body and Soul Balm
A wonderful, super rich body balm made with 100% organic, vegan and ethical ingredients like shea and cacao butter, and different plant oils. Even though the scrub contains coconut oil, at the end my skin still isn't feeling as nourished as I'd like, so a lovely cream or butter is essential for me. I put a nice layer of the balm, massage my feet and then put on some cozy socks and leave the balm to do its magic. It makes my skin soft, it's moisturizing and nourishing. Just lovely!

Much love,
Jana xx
