Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer SPF30

May 31, 2015

Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Moisturizer SPF 30, Combination, Oily, Blemish Prone Skin
Krema vsebuje mineralna filtra cinkov oksid in titanov dioksid (brez nano, celo mikro delcev), kar je moja prva in edina izbira.

Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Moisturizer SPF 30
Pretiravam, a pod kremo še vseeno uporabim tonik, kremo in olje. Trenutno so to Thayers vrtnični tonik, AlpStories Obrazna krema z alojinim maslom*, Gaia Creams Raw Love, Eye & Face Cream* in S.W. Basics Oil Serum.

Translation
Sunscreen is a product that lots of people use only on their vacation or maybe when they go hiking and stuff like that. But if we're lucky, the sun is shinning on us even in the city, on a walk, when enjoying a nice scoop of ice cream, basically everywhere, even in a car. So the use of sunscreen is really important and it should be a part of our daily routine. Besides the posibility of some serious stuff like skin cancer, the lack of sunscreen can cause the skin to age faster and can lead to hyperpigmentation, like sun spots. And for those of us who suffer with redness caused by spots and acne, sunscreen is even more important because the sun affects these discolored skin marks in a way that they became even more prominent. The skin just gets even more damaged and it heals slower, so I really urge you to put on a sunscreen.

I wasn't always so into sun protection and I only used it on my vacation and also, I wasn't I'm not the biggest fan of that typical sunscreen scent or the heavy and greasy texture, so I didn't really use it regularly. Fortunately I found some great alternatives with light textures that are easily absorbed and aren't greasy. One of these is Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+, but this year I was introduced to an even better sunscreen, the Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Moisturizer with SPF 30. The name says it all, the moisturizer really has a light consistency, which is besides a great ingredient list and a sun block protection, everything that I look for in a facial sunscreen.

Moisturizer contains mineral filters Zinc Oxide and Titanium Doixdie (non-nano, even non-micronized particles), which is my first and only option. If I have one advice for you is to avoide nano partilces. They can penetrate your skin but also the smaller they are, the worse the UVA protection. The mineral filters in the product provide UVA and UVB protection and are actually kettle steamed and then whipped very quickly in to the base of the product so that they bind to the moisturiser. Quite interesting, right? There're also some oils, like Sunflower, Safflower, Jojoba and Coconut, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Juice, Green Tea, Eucalyptus and Lemon Oil. The latter isn't the most desired ingredient in a sunscreen or any other daytime moisturizer, because lemon oil is phototoxic (photosensitive). When left on the skin and then exposed to sunlight, it can cause the sun’s effect to be magnified, causing damage. But according to the comment on the German online organic & natural boutiqe Amazingy, there's just a tiny bit of lemon oil in the cream (less than 1%). Therefore it's not really a cause for concern. I'd prefer if the product wouldn't contain it, but on the other hand lemon oil detoxifies the skin, minimizes oil production and dries up acne and zits. And because of it, the product also has a lovely citrusy scent of lemons.

Okay, enough about ingredients, let's move on to the packaging and my experience with it. Considering everything, certified organic ingredients, gorgeous lightweight formula, great sun protection and a huge amount of product (120ml/4oz), I'd say the price is reasonable (I bought it for 32€ with a discount code). More on the expensive side, but very reasonable for what you get. I love the big ass packaging but it isn't really the perfect choice for travels. But I most definitely wouldn't change that, you can easily transfer it to a smaller jar if you wish. :) The packaging is made out of a quality, clear plastic. I really like the pump, I always love that. And the fact that you can see how many product is left! The only little thing I'm not crazy about is the cap because it can be easily open. I wish it would stick together a bit more, then it would have been perfect.

I use this moisturizer almost every day, if it's rainy I don't really bother with it or I just use one pump. That's another thing I wish to warn you about, only one pump is not enough if you want to achieve a full spf, in this case 30. It is recommended that you use 3-4 pumps of the moisturizer, but I usually use 2-3, depends if I'm outside or not. You can use it by itself, but I always have to slather about ten products on my face before suncreen. I'm exaggerating a bit, but I always use a toner, cream and an oil, and after all that I apply the sunscreen. If you're curious, I'm currently using Thayers Rose Toner, AlpStories Aloe Butter Face Cream*, Gaia Creams Raw Love, Eye and Face Cream* and S.W. Basics Oil Serum. I apply a thin layer of everything and then go in with one pump of Kimberly Sayer moisturizer. I wait for a few seconds and then apply second and third layer. If I use two or three pumps at once there's just too much of it and I find it's better to use one pump at a time. I much prefer that!

This moisturizer has such a lovely and just wonderful texture. Very light, it goes on super smooth, it's absorbed almost immediately and doesn't leave any white cast or heavy, greasy feeling. It's like a regular lightweight moisturizer and I would never have thought that it's actually a sunscreen! It's a great base for makeup too. The moisturizer is most suitable for combination, oily and blemish prone skin. It doesn't clog my pores, but it does contain coconut oil if you have problems with it. For me it's just great!<3 And please don't be alarmed, my friend with dry to normal skin is loving it too! I highly recommend it!<3

I bought it on LoveLula, where I used a discount code LOVE15 (15% off first order). If you're not so sure you can first buy a sample of it on Amazingy. For the end I would just like to say it again, it's a wonderful product and I'm beyond grateful that Theresa and Vanessa introduced it to me!<3 I hope I can make some of you as happy as they made me. :)

Sorry for the extra long post today, hope it wasn't one of those "too long, did not read". :) To sum up, you need to use sunscreen on a regular basis and this KS one is the perfect option. :)

With love,
Jana

  1. Dear Jana, I'm so glad you like it too (: !
I need to apply 2 coats as well to achieve the SPF but it never leaves a white cast which is awesome (: . If it gets a bit greasy after too much product I simply use a tissue to absorb the oil and I'm good to go (: .
Thank you for the link-love! Lots of love <3 .

    1. Hi dear Theresa :) The no-white cast thing is so awesome!! :)) Great advice, but I don't even need to do that, the light texture is really on point and I'm so happy about that! :)
Oh you're very welcome, lots of love to you too!<3 xx

  5. This was a really interesting review - I didn't know about the effects of lemon oil. Please don't think that your readers don't want longer posts - I do! I didn't like the Kimberly Sayer products for the scent, and Japanese Honeysuckle as a preservative, but this review was still really useful. I'd love a light organic sun cream - have you tried Green People? They are perfect for sensitive skin, but quite creamy! xxx

    1. I'm happy you learned something new, there're some more phototoxic essential oils, like lavender and some other citrus scents for example. This product doesn't contain it, as a preservative is used benzyl alcohol :) No, I haven't tried those because if I'm not mistaken they don't use non nano minerals, at least that was the case when I lest checked them, but thanks for your recommendation :) xx

  8. Oi. Kak nasvet oz. tvoja praksa. Hvala! Lep preostanek dneva 😉

I also have the organic pharmacy Spf 25 that is not greasy at all and smells like fruits too. You should try it as well!!!! Has really nice and high quality ingredients.

Thank you for this review ❤️❤️❤️

  10. I've been wanting to try this but the photosensitising lemon always put me off a bit! Now you've mentioned it's less than 1% I might just give it a go anyway :) x
