DIY Round Up

May 08, 2015

I haven't posted a new DIY recipe for quite some time now, so I decided to do a little round up of my fave DIY creations. I use all of them constantly, I absolutely adore and highly recommend them!<3
1. Turmeric, Oat and Honey Mask - this one is such a classic! Perfect mask for irritated, sensitive, acne-prone, dry, oily, it's pretty much a mask for all skin types! It works magic on redness and hyperpigmentation. If my skin is acting up I use it every day for a few days and the results are amazing!

2. Powder Cleanser/Exfoliator/Mask - I love a good multi-purpose product and this one is exactly that. Recipe is inspired by Hana Organic's Lavender Grains, but since then I made a few different ones and my latest favourite is with Marshmallow and Hibiscus. It turns pink when you mix it with water, so of course I like it. :) It's amazing what you can mix together, you can go super simple with just Oats, or go all out and mix different herbs, flowers and spices, whatever you like. This stuff is super gentle too, so you can use it everyday or a couple of times a week, like I love to do.

3. Sugar Wax - summer is coming. :) If you want a super cheap, at home waxing then this is the way to go! You can use it anywhere on your body but my fave and actually the only way of using it is as on my bikini area. At home brazilian waxing is my jam. :) Yeah, all right, sometimes it can be painful but you get used to it and the fact that you don't need to do it constantly is awesome! And it's all super natural too, a thing I can't say for different types of wax strips from the drugstore, which I bought twice and never got along with.

4. Facial Steam - of the four, I use this one the least. Not beacause it doesn't work, but because I'm bored and I can't seem to be comfy when I steam my face. :) I try to do it once a week, but to be honest it's more like twice or once a month. But when I do it, I'm always super impressed with how my skin looks, especially the next day. Soft, calm and more radiant. I also have big problems with blackheads on my nose and the steam really helps with opening the pores and I can easily extract the gunk from them. Sounds yuk but it's so satisfying. And it's also the perfect pre-step for a facial mask.

So, have you tried any of these and what do you think about them? What are your favourite DIY creations? :)

With love,
Jana

  1. Dear Jana, I love waxing and definitely need to try your DIY! I only used sugaring once but didn't come along as well as with normal wax (avocado). I will give your recipe a go very soon (: .
And I know the satisfying feeling with extracting the blackheads x) ...Lots of love <3

    1. Theresa, what do you mean with normal wax (avocado)? Is this some kind of brand or what..:) And I do hope you'll like the recipe, just make sure to brink it to boil slowly :)

    2. Hihi, the brand is called RICA and it's their brazilian wax with avocado (: . You don't need any strips for that, similar to the sugaring technique (: . But I like the idea of making my own wax! <3

  2. I haven't tried a lot of these, but I definitely want to! The DIY I make the most is always some sort of aloe-based toner with healing herbs (whatever I can get my hands on at the time) and rose water.
