Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer SPF30

May 31, 2015

Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Moisturizer SPF 30, Combination, Oily, Blemish Prone Skin
Krema vsebuje mineralna filtra cinkov oksid in titanov dioksid (brez nano, celo mikro delcev), kar je moja prva in edina izbira.

Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Moisturizer SPF 30
Pretiravam, a pod kremo še vseeno uporabim tonik, kremo in olje. Trenutno so to Thayers vrtnični tonik, AlpStories Obrazna krema z alojinim maslom*, Gaia Creams Raw Love, Eye & Face Cream* in S.W. Basics Oil Serum.

Translation
Sunscreen is a product that lots of people use only on their vacation or maybe when they go hiking and stuff like that. But if we're lucky, the sun is shinning on us even in the city, on a walk, when enjoying a nice scoop of ice cream, basically everywhere, even in a car. So the use of sunscreen is really important and it should be a part of our daily routine. Besides the posibility of some serious stuff like skin cancer, the lack of sunscreen can cause the skin to age faster and can lead to hyperpigmentation, like sun spots. And for those of us who suffer with redness caused by spots and acne, sunscreen is even more important because the sun affects these discolored skin marks in a way that they became even more prominent. The skin just gets even more damaged and it heals slower, so I really urge you to put on a sunscreen.

I wasn't always so into sun protection and I only used it on my vacation and also, I wasn't I'm not the biggest fan of that typical sunscreen scent or the heavy and greasy texture, so I didn't really use it regularly. Fortunately I found some great alternatives with light textures that are easily absorbed and aren't greasy. One of these is Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+, but this year I was introduced to an even better sunscreen, the Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Moisturizer with SPF 30. The name says it all, the moisturizer really has a light consistency, which is besides a great ingredient list and a sun block protection, everything that I look for in a facial sunscreen.

Moisturizer contains mineral filters Zinc Oxide and Titanium Doixdie (non-nano, even non-micronized particles), which is my first and only option. If I have one advice for you is to avoide nano partilces. They can penetrate your skin but also the smaller they are, the worse the UVA protection. The mineral filters in the product provide UVA and UVB protection and are actually kettle steamed and then whipped very quickly in to the base of the product so that they bind to the moisturiser. Quite interesting, right? There're also some oils, like Sunflower, Safflower, Jojoba and Coconut, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Juice, Green Tea, Eucalyptus and Lemon Oil. The latter isn't the most desired ingredient in a sunscreen or any other daytime moisturizer, because lemon oil is phototoxic (photosensitive). When left on the skin and then exposed to sunlight, it can cause the sun’s effect to be magnified, causing damage. But according to the comment on the German online organic & natural boutiqe Amazingy, there's just a tiny bit of lemon oil in the cream (less than 1%). Therefore it's not really a cause for concern. I'd prefer if the product wouldn't contain it, but on the other hand lemon oil detoxifies the skin, minimizes oil production and dries up acne and zits. And because of it, the product also has a lovely citrusy scent of lemons.

Okay, enough about ingredients, let's move on to the packaging and my experience with it. Considering everything, certified organic ingredients, gorgeous lightweight formula, great sun protection and a huge amount of product (120ml/4oz), I'd say the price is reasonable (I bought it for 32€ with a discount code). More on the expensive side, but very reasonable for what you get. I love the big ass packaging but it isn't really the perfect choice for travels. But I most definitely wouldn't change that, you can easily transfer it to a smaller jar if you wish. :) The packaging is made out of a quality, clear plastic. I really like the pump, I always love that. And the fact that you can see how many product is left! The only little thing I'm not crazy about is the cap because it can be easily open. I wish it would stick together a bit more, then it would have been perfect.

I use this moisturizer almost every day, if it's rainy I don't really bother with it or I just use one pump. That's another thing I wish to warn you about, only one pump is not enough if you want to achieve a full spf, in this case 30. It is recommended that you use 3-4 pumps of the moisturizer, but I usually use 2-3, depends if I'm outside or not. You can use it by itself, but I always have to slather about ten products on my face before suncreen. I'm exaggerating a bit, but I always use a toner, cream and an oil, and after all that I apply the sunscreen. If you're curious, I'm currently using Thayers Rose Toner, AlpStories Aloe Butter Face Cream*, Gaia Creams Raw Love, Eye and Face Cream* and S.W. Basics Oil Serum. I apply a thin layer of everything and then go in with one pump of Kimberly Sayer moisturizer. I wait for a few seconds and then apply second and third layer. If I use two or three pumps at once there's just too much of it and I find it's better to use one pump at a time. I much prefer that!

This moisturizer has such a lovely and just wonderful texture. Very light, it goes on super smooth, it's absorbed almost immediately and doesn't leave any white cast or heavy, greasy feeling. It's like a regular lightweight moisturizer and I would never have thought that it's actually a sunscreen! It's a great base for makeup too. The moisturizer is most suitable for combination, oily and blemish prone skin. It doesn't clog my pores, but it does contain coconut oil if you have problems with it. For me it's just great!<3 And please don't be alarmed, my friend with dry to normal skin is loving it too! I highly recommend it!<3

I bought it on LoveLula, where I used a discount code LOVE15 (15% off first order). If you're not so sure you can first buy a sample of it on Amazingy. For the end I would just like to say it again, it's a wonderful product and I'm beyond grateful that Theresa and Vanessa introduced it to me!<3 I hope I can make some of you as happy as they made me. :)

Sorry for the extra long post today, hope it wasn't one of those "too long, did not read". :) To sum up, you need to use sunscreen on a regular basis and this KS one is the perfect option. :)

With love,
Jana

Cocovít Coconut Oil

May 26, 2015

Cocovit Organic, Raw Coconut Oil
Cocovit Raw Organic Coconut Oil
Cocovit Coconut Oil, Raw & Organic
Dvakrat šamponiram in nato nanesem balzam.

Coconut oil is something I've mentioned a few times already, but that doesn't stop me from writing about it again. If you are a regular reader, then you'll know I love coconut oil! It works so well for me and it's just amazing. I'm saying that for a "normal" coconut oil, the Cocovít Coconut Oil is something completely different, magical even. I didn't think it posibble, but it truly is something special and worth the hype. But to be completely honest with you, at first I wasn't so sure about that. I've read positive and glowing reviews but I didn't expect it to be any different than other organic, extra virgin coconut oil I've tried. Boy I was wrong!

Cocovít Coconut Oil is harvested from fresh, virgin, organic coconuts from South India, and is left raw for optimal nutrient and enzyme potency. Withouth the heat alteration, there's a higher concentration of fatty acids, which have antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. The coconut oil is also free from parabens, GMO, chemicals, preservatives. Free from any other added ingredients, just pure organic and fair trade coconut oil. Read more about it here and do check out Sarita's amazing review.

This coconut oil doesn't have your typical coconuty scent. Perfect for those who don't enjoy that scent, but for those of us who like it, this isn't the best smelling product out there. But I really don't mind that because it works amazing! My favourite ways of using it is as a makeup remover and a hair mask. Fortunately for me, coconut oil doesn't break me out, but some ladies have some serious problems with that. Well, rumors have it that the Cocovít Coconut oil doesn't clog pores and it actually works like a coconut oil should, as an antibacterial. And it should also heal acne. As I said, I can't really test to that, but maybe some of you can share your experiences down in the comments. For me it works like a charm, it doesn't clog my pores, it removes makeup like a dream and leaves my skin super soft. More about my face washing routine here.

I was impressed but what really turned me around into believing in its magical properties, was using it as a hair mask. Oh my! Everytime I use it as an overnight hair treatment my hair is so soft and shiny. Honestly, a "normal" coconut oil can't compare. I'm not saying that all other coconut oils are bad, but this one is truly wonderful. Most of the time I apply it on the lenght of my hair, concentrating on my ends, leave on overnight and wash off in the morning. I shampoo twice and also use a conditioner. Besides the softness and shine, my hair has less tangles and it's just easier to comb through. I'm really impressed with the Cocovít Coconut oil, with the content and the packaging. Without a doubt, this is the prettiest and the most chic coconut oil I've ever had! I highly recommend it!<3

#atthismomenttag

May 20, 2015

Pred nekaj dnevi me je Ruhi aka @ruhimaach taggala za nov tag, ki sem ga poimenovala At This Moment Tag.
Zadnji nakup lepotnega izdelka: S.W.

A couple of days ago I was tagged by the lovely Ruhi aka @ruhimaach to do a new tag which I named At This Moment Tag. Instead of doing it on Instagram I decided to do a short blog post and share with you products I'm wearing right now.

Last beauty purchase: S.W Basics Oil Serum - this serum has been on my wishlist ever since I first saw it. I didn't imagine I would get a chance to try it in the near future but my awesome friend hooked me up. Thanks babe!<3 The ingredient that intrigued me to get this beautiful bottle of goodness was of course Turmeric. I'm obsessed with it, I love eating it and slapping it on my face on a regular basis. :) This American brand is known for its simplicity, they create products that contain only a few ingredients, which are usually organic. The oil serum is made simply with only 4 ingredients and 3 of them are organic - Avocado, Geranium and Turmeric Oil, and there's also Coffee Oil. Presently I'm using and testing out other facial oil but this is the next in line. I can't wait to try it out and I really hope it will meet my (high) expectations!

Sunscreen you're currently wearing : Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 - a wonderful product that protects my skin from harmful sunrays. Like the name suggests, it has a light consistency, very pleasant citrusy scent, it's quickly absorbed into the skin and it doesn't leave any white cast. And yes, it contains non-nano mineral filters. I'm saying that because sunscreen that contain non-nano ingredients usually have a heavy and oily consistency and leave a white cast if you don't massage it into your skin properly. But there's no problems with this one, it's amazing!

On my nails currently: Zoya Malia - I'm cheating a bit, I don't have a nail polish on at the moment, but the last one I had was this beautiful pastel purple shade.<3

Perfume you're wearing right now: Marmozel Wax Perfume Jasmine* - a natural perfume with floral-spicy scent. A sweet blossoming of Jasmines and Mimosas with a subtle spicy note. I really like the description of it on the page, it describes it perfectly - like a something light, but embracing, sweet, but refreshing, cooling, but warm, like a someone familiar, but forgotten, longed. Parfum has a hard, wax consistency - it contains Rose Flower Wax and Beeswax. Application with fingers isn't ideal but because it's a wax perfume it lasts longer on my skin, so I'm good. :) But I'm still curious how they compare with their oil based perfumes.

Now it's time for you to spill the beans! Let me know in the comments your answers or do the tag on your blog. :)

With love,
Jana xx

Vegan Cooking #2

May 15, 2015

- paradižnikovo omako in
- začimbe (sol, poper, kajenski poper, ingver, kumino, kurkumo in curry).

It's time for another recipe post! :) This time I want to share my delicious lentil "curry" with you. Lentils are in my opinion super foods, they're so tasty and have lots of nutrients, protein and fibers.

Like usual I don't have the exact recipe, I'm so sorry but I just can't cook like that. I only follow the recipe if I'm baking. But if you still want to give it a go you'll need:
- lentils, soaked overnight,
- onion,
- garlic,
- milk (usually there's coconut milk in curry recipes but I didn't have the best experience with it so I rather use rice or oat milk),
- tomato sauce and
- spices (salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, ginger, cumin, turmeric and curry).

First you'll need to sautee your onion and garlic. Then add the spices but be careful not to burn them, just lightly roast them and then add tomato sauce and milk. About the same amount of each. Ration between lentils and sauce is about 1:1, it depends on how thick you want your curry to be. You can always add more if you'd like. So, when the mixture of spices and liquid comes to a boil, add the lentils, lower the heat and cook for about 20 minutes. Taste it and see if you need to add some more spices. I love turmeric so I added one teaspoon more than it is on the picture and I also sprinkle some more curry and cumin. You can serve it just as it is or with rice. Or you can cook some bulgur and sautee some swisss chard, if you want it to look like this.

Bon appétit!

With love,
Jana xx

Fun with Samples

May 11, 2015

Zelo!

Parfum ni najbolj obstojen kar sem jih imela, a me to niti najmanj ne moti, ker tako lepo in unikatno diši.

I really like the idea of samples and I'm always so happy when I get them, but honestly, I rarely use them or not as quickly as I should have, especially if they're in sample bags. I much prefer bigger samples that can be used multiple times and I can get a better idea if I actually like the product or not. And today's post is about these products, about generous samples stored in packaging that caught my attention. I guess you could call me a sample snob, but aren't we all more excited about bigger samples?

La Bella Figura Bio Active Healing Mask* - I'm sure you've all heard of LBF, a gorgeous brand that I wanted to try for such a long time and I've never thought I would actually have a chance to test out! This luxury brand isn't really affordable and I'm not sure if I'd splurge on such an expensive product if I wouldn't be sure it suits my skin. So I was beyond ecstatic when the lovely Rayna from Reina Organics contacted me and sent me two LBF testers to try.<3 The product I want to talk about today is the beautiful, dark red facial mask. I have to say it's one of the best face masks I've tried. This regenerative and hydrating mask is a curative treatment for dry, irritated and mature skin conditions. I'd recommend it to everyone, except those with very sensitive skin. The mask contains healing ingredients like Manuka Honey, Aronia Berry Powder, Kaolin, Barbary Fig Seed Oil, Rosehip, Turmeric and more. I apply it on a freshly cleansed face (sometimes I also mix a bit of honey into it) and leave on my face for half an hour. Besides the wonderful hydrating properties, the mask also gently exfoliates and leaves my skin very soft and smooth. Very! Maybe I'll give in some day and buy a whole jar of it. It'd have been nice to own this little jar of goodness, especially in their new packaging. Isn't it stunning?!

Leahlani Skincare Puakini Tuberose Perfume Oil (this is actually an old name, now is called Pua Lei- I've already talked about one of my favourite brands, I love every product I've tried and this little bottle of perfume oil is no exception! I was trying to describe its amazing tropical, flowery scent here, it's just super lovely and I love it more and more every time I use it! Every Leahlani Skincare product just makes me want to go to Hawaii!! :) It isn't the most long lasting perfume I've tried but I don't mind that one bit, because the scent is so nice and unique. I apply it on the usual spots, behind my ears, on my neck, wrists. I would also apply it on my hair but fortunately for me, I have the Coconut Infusion in the same scent, Puakini Tuberose. You guessed it, they go perfectly together and I can't say enough good things about them!

Dr. Alkaitis Organic Soothing Gel (from Travel & Try Kit)* - one of the best products for sensitive, irritated skin! It's also one of the most interesting products and one I wouldn't long for if I'd only read the ingredients. In their base of Organic Aloe Vera Gel and Witch Hazel is Alcohol (organically grown grape alcohol). But hear me out, the product isn't drying and it's actually really soothing, calming, moisturizing and refreshing. I won't go into details but do check out Kim's review to learn more about the product and the alcohol. Gel also contains some pretty amazing organic and wild-crafted herbs like Greater Nettle, Wild Chamomile, Myrrh, European Elder and more. It has a light, herbal scent, which was a bit strange at first, but then it grew on me. The consistency is quite watery and sinks in super quickly. This really is an amazing products and I'm super sad that I've already used it all up.

Have a great week!

Lots of love,
Jana xx

DIY Round Up

May 08, 2015

I haven't posted a new DIY recipe for quite some time now, so I decided to do a little round up of my fave DIY creations. I use all of them constantly, I absolutely adore and highly recommend them!<3
1. Turmeric, Oat and Honey Mask - this one is such a classic! Perfect mask for irritated, sensitive, acne-prone, dry, oily, it's pretty much a mask for all skin types! It works magic on redness and hyperpigmentation. If my skin is acting up I use it every day for a few days and the results are amazing!

2. Powder Cleanser/Exfoliator/Mask - I love a good multi-purpose product and this one is exactly that. Recipe is inspired by Hana Organic's Lavender Grains, but since then I made a few different ones and my latest favourite is with Marshmallow and Hibiscus. It turns pink when you mix it with water, so of course I like it. :) It's amazing what you can mix together, you can go super simple with just Oats, or go all out and mix different herbs, flowers and spices, whatever you like. This stuff is super gentle too, so you can use it everyday or a couple of times a week, like I love to do.

3. Sugar Wax - summer is coming. :) If you want a super cheap, at home waxing then this is the way to go! You can use it anywhere on your body but my fave and actually the only way of using it is as on my bikini area. At home brazilian waxing is my jam. :) Yeah, all right, sometimes it can be painful but you get used to it and the fact that you don't need to do it constantly is awesome! And it's all super natural too, a thing I can't say for different types of wax strips from the drugstore, which I bought twice and never got along with.

4. Facial Steam - of the four, I use this one the least. Not beacause it doesn't work, but because I'm bored and I can't seem to be comfy when I steam my face. :) I try to do it once a week, but to be honest it's more like twice or once a month. But when I do it, I'm always super impressed with how my skin looks, especially the next day. Soft, calm and more radiant. I also have big problems with blackheads on my nose and the steam really helps with opening the pores and I can easily extract the gunk from them. Sounds yuk but it's so satisfying. And it's also the perfect pre-step for a facial mask.

So, have you tried any of these and what do you think about them? What are your favourite DIY creations? :)

With love,
Jana

Before Bed

May 05, 2015

Kožo izjemno navlaži in nahrani, jo naredi mehko in gladko.

Odstavim in pustim 5 do 7 minut. Dober po okusu, dober za um in telo.
Zvočne knjige - moram reči, da sem v zadnjem času postala velika navdušenka nad poslušanjem knjig. Moj fant me je že ne vem koliko časa prepričeval nad tem, a nikoli me ni pritegnilo, ker sem poleg vedno razmišljala o čem drugem in na koncu sploh nisem vedela kaj se dogaja. Prepričala me je prava knjiga ob pravem času - I Hunt Killers (Barry Lyga) in glavobol. :) Od takrat sem poslušala že marsikatero knjigo, trenutno sem navdušena nad The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher).

Lately I've been noticing a lot of the same products in my evening routine so why not do a blog post about them? I skiped my evening skincare routine, because it changes too often to write about it, but some other things are pretty much my current constant. They are all super lovely and realxing.

Devotion Lavender Primal Beauty Balm* - beautiful handmade lavender balm is suitable for combination skin. Lavender is a wonderful antiseptic and is therefore great for combating those annoying spots. Besides this the product is also great for its anti aging properties, it's nourishing and moisturizing. A luxurious rich balm contains balms and oils, like Mango and Shea Butter, Almond Oil and Lavender Infused Jojoba Oil, and two or three ingredients more. These and every other ingredients they use are not overheated, and none of their products are refined, processed or pasteurized. Devotion prouducts don't contain water, chemicals, artificial colours, aromas and preservatives. Balm is super nourishing and rich but at the same time it doesn't clog my pores. It makes my skin smooth and super soft. Yay! And you only need just a tiny amount of it, which is always a big plus. Although I like using it in my evening skincare routine, I rather stay away from it in the daytime, becasue if I'm not mistaken, Lavender can cause the skin to be more sensitive and receptive to sunlight. My favourite way of using it is on my neck and decolletage. It nourishes and moistuirizes my skin and makes it so soft and smooth. It's a gorgeous product, which is actually made on Hvar, a Croatian Island, which is known for its blossoming fields of purple blue lavender. Therefore Hvar is also known as "the island of lavender". And what about that cute sun on the packaging, I find it most appropriate! Hvar, lavender, sun, sea, oh everything I wish for right  now! More about this Slovenian-Croatian brand made with organically produced and certified ingredients here.

Blue Labelle Hand Oil - another beautiful product from an island, this one is from England, from the Isle of Wight, to be exact. A hand oil for mature or dry skin contains a mixture of plant and essential oils - Almond, Jojoba, Rosehip, Rosemary and more. I really like the last one, Rosemary, which improves blood circulation and helps to grow long and healty nails. Thus I really love massaging it into my nails and cuticles. A whole list of ingredients here, where you can also read all of the amazing and healing properties. Naturally, the texture of a hand oil is oily and is therefore great for an evening use. Or for lounging in front of TV. I always use two pumps, which is the perfect amount for hands and nails. Oil makes my skin moistuirized and soft, and I also like the scent of it - smells like Rosemary, Geranium and Palmarosa.

Bohemian Harvest Lavender + Honey Lip Salve - of course I have to have a lavender sceneted lip balm in my evening routine. This balm actually smells really wonderful, like Lavender and Cocoa Butter, yummy! Amongst the ingredients are also Coconut Oil and Honey, so you can just imagine how soft, moistuirized and smooth it makes my lips.

Tea - all day, every day is my mantra for tea. :) In the evenings I really love drinking tea with calming and soothing properties and the next three are my current faves.

*Yogi Bedtime Tea contains Fennel, Chamomile, Peppermint and other herbs, spices and flowers that makes you relax before sleep.

*Hofer Good Night Organic Herbal Tea contains Lemon Balm, detoxifying Nettle Fennel, Elderflowers, Hops and Cornflower, which looks so beautiful in the green-ish mixture, don't you agree?

*DIY tea with Cumin, Black Cumin, Anise (similar to Fennel) and Chamomile. I use about a pinch of each. My perfect calming tea, which is also great if you have an upset stomach. Or for when you just want to drink something soothing and delicious. Interested in how I make it? First I add Cumin, Black Cumin and Anise seeds into a small pot, pour some cold water on top and then leave it boiling for a minute or two. Then I add Chamomile and remove off the stove. Leave for 5 to 7 minutes and that's it. Good for your body and soul.

Audiobooks - I have to say that lately I've been super into audiobooks. My boyfriend was pretty much failing at convincing me to do that, I was always thinking of something else and didn't know what the story was about. But the right book at the right time did the trick. I was having a headache and I felt sorry for myself, so Jaka hooked me up with a book called I Hunt Killers (Barry Lyga) and I didn't look back ever since. :) At the moment I'm listening The Dresden Files (Jim Butcher) and I love it as well. Actually I really recommend both of these and the Red Rissing (Pierce Brown) is also amazing!

Do you use and love any of these products? How does your evening routine look like?

With love,
Jana xx
