Wash That Face

March 05, 2015

Hoe I wash and cleanse my face, Herbfarmacy, Coconut Oil, Washcloth
Pure Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil
Najprej uporabim kokosovo olje.
Nato z nežnimi krožnimi gibi odstranite olje in ličila in postopek ponovite.
Herbfarmacy Wash-Off Cleansing Mousse
Trenutno je moj najljubši Herbfarmacy Wash-Off Cleansing Mousse*. Prečudovit izdelek s krasno kremno konsistenco in prijetnim, nežno zeliščno-cvetličnim vonjem. :)

Kako pa vi odstranjujete ličila? :)

Translation
Putting on my makeup can be really relaxing. Well, if I'm not in a rush and I can take time to do it, but removing my makeup can be even more relaxing. Washing my face and removing my makeup is sort of like a ritual to me and I never expected to like it so much. I guess great products and a wonderful routine really can make a difference. I used to always use cotton rounds but once I started to be more aware of environment I discovered washcloths. I've been using them for quite some time now and oh my, they're amazing! I don't want to ramble on and on so let's rather talk about my much loved facial cleansing routine. Oh and I only do this routine when I have makeup on, if not I usually use a cleansing balm or just anything I like. :)

I start with coconut oil. Pure, extra virgin, cold-pressed and organic coconut oil. It works perfectly at removing makeup, has a great scent, it makes my skin soft and it's just wonderful! I don't use a whole teaspoon but about a third, even a  quarter of the amount. I melt it between my hands and massage it onto my whole face and eyes, and the oil just melts everything. Of course I look like a raccoon after I'm finished but it's so worth it. :) The only negative thing is that it can clog pores, but at the same time it can work wonders on acne-prone skin. Anyway, if you're worried about clogging your pores you can also use other organic, vegetable oils, like jojoba or almond for example.

Next step is using a wet, warm cotton washcloth or a muslin clothWashcloth thoroughly removes everything and at the same time it also provides a gentle scrub and therefore leaves my skin smooth and soft. And also, the whole process is very simple. First thing you need to do is to wet your cloth with very warm water, wring it out and apply to your face. I like to leave it on for a few seconds to enjoy the warmth of the cloth. But be careful that it's not too hot! Then with circular movement gently remove everything and do it all over again. The only thing I'm careful about is that I use a clean side of the cloth. After all that I rinse it again, leave it to dry and then put it in the laundry basket to wash later.

Just to make sure everything is completely removed I like to use a cleansing gel, cream or any other prodcut I'm loving at that moment. Right now my fave is the Herbfarmacy Wash-Off Cleansing Mousse*. A truly wonderful product with a divine creamy consistency and lovely, delicate, herby, flowery scent. I love this stuff! I will do a review, but let me just tell you that it's not drying, it removes every trace of makeup and it's just oh so nice! It reminds me of the beautiful Pai Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, so if you also like it, then you most certainly need to try this one! :)

How do you remove your makeup and which products are you using and loving? :)

Love,
Jana xx

    1. I will do it soon, but you should just get it, it's lovely!! There's one thing though, it contains phenoxyethanol..I tend to avoid it and I'm not sure I would purchase it myself if I saw that first, but now that I have tried it I think I would repurchase it..I don't know.. :) I just wanted to let you know that :))
As for the serum goes, I have it but I have yet to try it, can't wait, I hear amazing things about it<3 xx

  3. Recently, I've been using raw manuka honey to wash my face. It helps to heal, soften, smooth, and brighten my complexion. I love the sound of the Herbfarmacy Wash-Off Cleansing Mousse. I've never tried a mousse cleanser before!

  4. A mousse cleanser sounds so dreamy! I've never tried cleansing with coconut oil, considering some of the horror stories I've heard, but then again I don't have any problems with rms beauty products. I love OCM and using washcloths, and I make sure to use a new one every time. Some time ago I bought a set of all white washcloths, and they're now yellow/brown from my turmeric and May Lindstrom masks... Do you have any tips on how to remove stains naturally? Or should I just throw them away? lol

    1. Hmm then maybe you wouldn't have problems with it, you should try it :) But I totally understand your fear, it really wouldn't be ideal to wake up with a face full of pimples, yikes! Hmm I did that one time, removed turmeric mask with a cloth and I didn't do it ever since :D The cloth was yellow but after a few washes it became white again so mybe just wait a couple of washes, and don't use it anyomore for removing masks :) In any case I don't think you should throw them away, they're clean, they just don't look that way :) Hope this helps :)

    2. I've washed them a few times now but they're all still bright yellow, lol! My husband noticed them and asked me what happened. ;D Yeah, throwing away is wasteful, I will continue to use them to remove masks only, coz why not, they're already stained!

    3. Hihi I'm guessing that was funny:D I think that's a perfect choice! :)

  5. I love washing my face too, especially in the evenings when I use a different cleanser. My favourites to date have been Aurelia's Miracle Cleanser and deMamiel's balm cleanser. Unfortunately I'm really not loving Pai's...to the point where I don't look forward to my evening cleansing routine since I have to use 'that' product. So I know what you mean about products being able to heighten the experience. I'm alternating with Yoshimomo's creme soap which is nicer but I do miss my cleansing creams and balms...I think I will have to go back to Aurelia or deMamiel soon! I think I must be one of the few to dislike Pai's and I have sensitive skin!

    1. Oh these two are definitely on my wishlist! But do they remove mascara? I find that cleansing balm don't remove it so easily as coconut oil does..Oh my, really?! Oh I'm so sad to hear that! :( Maybe use it as a body wash, that way you'll get rid of it soon hihi :)) Hope you like other Pai products better! :)

  6. Hey Jana!
Great post! My morning cleansing routine is pretty simple and I'm currently using the Pai Cleanser you just mentioned! I started using it after running out of Ren's Clarimatte Gel Cleanser. I, like Nic, am just using it to finish it since I had gotten it during their amazing Black Friday deal. I think it's great at moisturizing but an alright cleanser and given my combination skin type I do prefer other types of cleansers! Then at night I also use the Pai cleanser but remove my makeup with Bioderma Micellar Water (which I know it not completely clean but I checked the ingredients and it isn't awful). I just can't seem to give it up because its so easy to use and is so efficient at taking off makeup!!! I'm definitely in the market for a new cleanser and have been eyeing Oskia's renaissance cleansing gel. This cleanser sounds great though, especially the mousse consistency!

    1. Ooo hey Vanessa! :)
Thank you<3 Ooh no, not you too :( Well, at least you both got it in their amazing deal so it wasn't that expensive :) You know I never used a micellar water! To be honest, I'm not even tempted, but I'm glad to hear it works so well for you :) Yeah, that one is all the rave, hope you'll get the chance to try it! :) Yeah, the Herbfarmacy cleanser is so lovely, I've really been liking it! :)

    1. Yeah I also love balms but not really for removing my makeup, I use them more when I don't have makeup on or at least when I don't have mascara on :) x

  9. Those pics are so beautiful! xx Very tempted to pick up something from Herb Pharmacy. Seems like a great brand, but will wait for your more detailed review. I use Tatcha Camellia Oil cleanser to remove my makeup - the oil is extremely light, and melts away when it comes in contact with water. I do want to pick up OLO's Cleansing Oil next, since I have heard so much about it!

  11. I really like coconut oil for removing make up too (: ...But I love oil cleansing methods in general. At the moment I'm using hempseed oil or the Antipodes grapeseed butter cleanser and after that a second cleansing product to remove the oil, currently the alverde Clear Waschcreme. The hempseed doesn't smell as good as coconut oil but it does the job (: . I definitely need to leave a warm washcloth on my face for a few seconds too (: ...sounds very relaxing! Lots of love, Theresa.
